I'm hearing/seeing two different stories here. The PM's are saying that they'll try to get the DVDs out to everyone, while the entry on Dana's blog says they're only for those who are on the list of trusted allies. So which is it? Confused

Do you reckon they'll send one to Australia?

To those who would rip/distribute the disc, heed the text on very front of it:

"Copyright blah blah NOT FOR RESALE OR TRADE."

Sale = nobody will.
Trade = nobody will trade the cd for another thing.

Damn you're a pain, you may be able to get the cd easely but we euro's don''t.Bad enough we didn't get an 'event'now you aren't willing to share the last chapter?Really sad.

This DVD is a freebie, the only thing you can't do are summed up above and nobody is doing that.

Nice way to give us the finger.

Not true. Plenty of players are picking up any and all leftover DVDs and stockpiling them for those who can't pick them up (including those outside the US).

I'm sure if you are willing to pay someone who has an extra CD for the overseas shipping, they will be MORE than happy to mail it you.

You people need to calm down. Copying this DVD will not violate the DMCA because it is not encrypted, and therefore you are not circumventing copyright antitheft technology by ripping it. Secondly, no one is obviously going to sell this or trade it for any other item, they want to give it away freely. Also, even though it is copywritten material, people simply want to redistribute a FREE work without changing the material. This is well within the bounds of fair use, as it is not disrupting the commercial value of the disk (as it has none) and no one is trying to profit from the sharing.

Now, I am not saying that I am sharing this DVD (I don't even have it), but some of you need to chillax, before you say "OMG! You are pirating teh DVD! I will sick teh M$ piracy police on youzz!" It is ridiculous that people do not think that they can redistribute completely free material.

I'm sorry Mazian, but I agree with the people telling you to CALM DOWN. And I'd like to add a BE QUIET. You are not a designated spokeperson for this ARG, or the PM's. And frankly, it insults me to sit here and watch you trample your high horse over people who love this game just as much as you. I think the fact that I've finally pulled out of lurking is proof enough of that.

I'm not sure you know what it has been like for people overseas. Having to watch everything from the sidelines, but still riding the same emotional rollercoaster as everyone else. Having nothing configured to your own timezone, EVER. Having to feel that same sinking feeling of inevitability as a Training Exercise was announced that we'll never be a part of.

The very first thing the PM's did on that DVD was thank the audience. "Without the audience, I Love Bees would have been nothing", or something to that effect. And guess what? We are part of that audience. We are as much a part of this as you.

You speak like we have no respect for the property of Bungie, or 4orty2wo, or Microsoft. Don't you get it? We are not trying to be malicious here. We love the game as much as the people who got their DVD's from a theatre (for free, I may add).

Maybe Dana will respond to my request for a DVD. But in all probability, she won't. And so how do you reason that I deserve one more or less than you? Hmm? If I can't get one through the official channels, then I'm damn well going to get it somewhere else. I love this game too much not to try.

And don't you dare say that I'm wrong for that. Don't. You. Dare.

W0RD Smile

I seriously doubt that they'd give a flying *bleep* about this. Besides, even if the DVD was shared online, we'd only be getting digital copies of this particular swag, and not the actual swag itself... Err...

... woulda loved to hold the DVD in my hands... *snif* Crying or Very sad

I don't know whether the PMs want us to distribute the DVD. Frankly, I don't care.

However, arguing that because some people had the chance to get the DVD everyone should, isn't exactly valid. Not everyone got a chance to go to a training event. Not everyone got a live call. While I understand that this is different, I can understand if the PMs don't want us to take DVD distribution into our own hands.

EDIT: Oh, concerning legality. I don't know if it's legal to distribute it or not. It says it's copyrighted, which would imply that it isn't, but who knows? In any case, I personally wouldn't distribute it if it were legal, but the PMs didn't want it to happen. I'm not trying to kiss ass or anything (what's the point, especially now?), but I'd just like to respect their wishes.

So if you forget to lock your car can I stolen it?

You are pretty strange! Only the creator of Ilovebees can say what we can do.

They could put that of the site, that will be a correct thing

He didnt say stealing becomes legal when the door isnt locked.
He put forth that copying somethind that is unencrypted does not violate the DMCA.

Difference.

The truth value of that statement, I cant pretend to know, its been a while since I studied copyright law. But I'd rather not see this...discussion...go too far in radical, pointless hyperbole land.

I wish I knew what to do. I'm desperate to get the DVD, but I'm probably not on the list of "trusted allies", and I live on the wrong side of the Atlantic to pick one up IRL.
I just mailed Dana, so I'll see what happens. Just hoping...
