I doubt there's anything ILB related in the game.

IF there is, I believe it will be the artifact. And if the artifact is there, they might mention it was found by a ship called Apocalypso. And if that's in there, that's where it'll end. For non-ILB folks it'll mean nothing, for ILB folks it'll put a little smile on the face.

I can imagine the ARG creators taking this ship that's mentioned in one line of the Halo story and putting this grand story around it, thereby making it appear that there is an ILB reference in the game where, in reality, it is the other way around.

If there is any mention of ILB in there, I believe that's what it'll be. But I doubt there'll even be that much mentioned in there. We might not even get to find out about the artifact at all.

We had confirmation from Chuck last night: no ILB in Halo 2.

I'm not trying to be a fanboy or anything... but the above statement is a clever way to put it. I'm sure there won't be any reference to I Love Bees in the game... but that doesn't mean that characters/events featured in ILB's won't be featured in the Game.

For instance, they made reference to attending a ceremony for John 117. Who can say this ceremony is not a cutscene in the game? Who can say that Durga doesn't show her face somewhere in the game? Or Jan? Or Kevin Morales and his stashes of weapons? At the very least, they'll give some explanation of how the Covenant found earth, and we already know what it is.

So there can be items in the game that we would know about and recognize because of ILB's, without having to mention ILB's at all.

Let me clear that up then. There was no clever wording there.

From Denny's last night:

Me: "Are there any easter eggs from ILB in Halo 2 at all?"
Chuck: "No."
Me: "Oh, here's another one. Is GS_343 in Halo2 at all?"
Everyone: "DON'T ANSWER THAT!"

Okay, I read in a magazine with a review of Halo 2, in a "True or False" section, that the Master Chief has a 'sidekick' in the game that is female, dresses in some of the worst ways given some of the situations they get in together, and is a Spartan. Now, the whole idea of the True/False section is to keep you guessing until Halo 2 comes out. However, this one... it stood out to me. Female, dresses in the worst ways given the situation... Jan. Without a doubt, Jan and the other Spartans will be fighting off the covenant, and Jan could possibly be going into covenant space with other 1.1's and Durga... who is to say that Jan and the MC meet up on the battlefield, and they go into covenant space TOGETHER, with the other 1.1s?

I really have no doubt that we will see some characters from ILB in Halo 2. If even only for a split second. ESPECIALLY Durga. A rogue AI is going to be a huge aid on the battlefield, and I can really see the MC getting a mysterious message from an AI we all know and love so very much. Besides, there are going to be a lot of questions, and I bet the MC is going to be able to answer a lot of Durgas, an Durga is going to be able to answer a lot of the MC's.

I know the nature of the ARG beast is usually to leave the characters featured out of whatever the ARG was leading up to-if anything. However, I consider everything that has happened all too convenient, and I really do expect to see the MC fighting alongside Durga, Jan, and possibly the other characters in ILB as well. Hell, god knows I would so love to see Jersey out on the battlefield in his tank, saying 'DAAAAAAMN' when he comes face to face with one of those huge robotic crab things. Wink

Mat Noguchi was being extremely sarcastic durng that Q and A session. The rest of his answers in that section also contained a whole bunch of sarcastic responses.

Here is the article:

EDIT: or at least I SWORE it was in there. Now I can't seem to find the interview. I do remember that it was very sarcastic, whoever said it.

I think that in general there won't be much ILB, but I do wonder why they made a point to call out the weapons cache in New Mombassa in the WAVs. I don't know if that means the Master Chief will find the weapons cache or what, but that would be pretty cool for us ILBers. I know people have said there's no ILB easter eggs but, as much as I like the game, dropping references like the weapons cache in a known game location and then not having anything like that in the game just seems kind of mean. To me, anyway ...

In a way, ILB is nothing but a spin-off of Halo. But at the same time in intertwines just as much.

I know so many people that love Halo only for the FPS. I ask people if they've read the books and they don't even know that there -are- books.

This game is almost -the- perfect game just because the Haloverse is open to all different types of gamers; whether you love a good storyline or just love shooting aliens and blowing stuff up. -And- it sells.

Who knows if ILB will continue or not. The way it ended was -very- open. It could be something else is coming (other than H2) or it could be up to us to continue on the story while we daydream at school/work. Either way I'm satisfied.

I loved how every time we asked Chuck questions he didn't want to answer, he'd eat one of his chicken tenders.

When he ran out of chicken tenders, he would take drinks of water. It was smoove, man.
