Sorry I didn't get on until late. I had a scout thing I had to go help out with. When's the next session of custom games that I can get in on. I'd love to play some SWAT, Zombie, etc. with all of you.

Whatever, you totally stole MY kills. And you're so Gimli. Dwarf.

I should be on sometime tonight, guys. I had to take a break last night so that I could force myself to get to bed on time, which I did...and subsequently got to work early this morning. Funny how that works, ain't it Smile.

I haven't played Swat yet, and we need to show the people who havn't played Zombie the original rules (not the king of the hill variant.)

But usually, from what I've seen, when people get on, we do matchmaking, unless someone really wants to do a custom game. When the party gets too large for matchmaking, we switch over to custom games.

However, if you get on and in a party, feel free to speak up and ask to play custom games. Most people will oblige.

So tell me, how was "Kill Bill" and "Zombie King"? Do they need tweaking? Are they worth adding to the repository? Would you play again?

I found out last night that my cable modem died. Since I don't have a spare $ laying around, it's going to be at least another week before you see me in a game.

I only played Zombie King, and it was a bit different than you set out.

We had it 3 minutes to win in a 15 minute game. The humans never lasted that long....

It's an interesting idea. I'll be interested in seeing what happens with more people... we played it with 12 or less. For a short while, the zombie(s) get massacred, but after they pick up a person or two, it's all downhill from there.

But it's an interesting variant, and I hope to play it some more.

Never got to play Kill Bill.

If humans start with a pistol instead of shotguns, wouldn't this improve their chances to survive? The thing is, with no shields, you can 1-shot people with the pistol while keeping a safe distance. You can't do this with the shotgun ...

Pistols instead of shotties.....Would'nt that tip the odds squarly in the human's? The zombies would never have the opportunity to get close. But then again, maybe the constant movement is enough to even the odds.

What times worked? 5 mins to win? What about having the clock move faster with additional team mates (i can't remember what it's called)?

It'll be tough for them in the beggining! But when they get 2-3 zombies going, it'll be a lot easier to get closer! Plus the no-radar + swords give them an edge! It's all about getting close without being noticed.

This might be too much frepower for the humans but what if you made the Zombie game type with these settings?

Primary Weapon: Shotgun
Secondary Weapon: Magnum
Weapons on Map: Energy Swords

Then when you switch from human to zombie you have to go get an energy sword before you can kill someone. Might be more confusion than it's worth but it could make the games last a little longer, and might even it out enough that the "Zombie King" would be more balanced.

Any how, Sorry I didn't play with you guys (and gals) much last night. One of my best friends finally got on Xbox live so I was showing him the ropes and getting him up to speed. I can't play tonight, but I'd love to play with ya'll on Thursday night.

I think the temptation would be too high just to go after people with the guns when you're a zombie. Plus, if you happen to spawn somewhere and don't have anythign to defend you, it REALLY sucks. At least with the sword, you have a small chance.

I'd keep it with spawning with swords.

Zombies already start out with shotguns, so I don't think that the temptation would be a factor. Everyone already has to make a conscious decision to switch to the Energy sword when they become the Zombie.
I do agree it would suck if you spawn in an area that a sword was not readily available but for all practical purposes once you have joined the Zombie Team you have already lost the game (assuming that being the last remaining human is your goal of course).

The other option would be to make the "weapons on map: Magnum", thus Zombies would always have their swords and Humans would have to seek out the pistols.

And that's how it was yesteday. My point is that with shotguns, it's just too hard to defend when the numbers of zombies are about equal to the numbers of humans. With pistols, it might be more balanced! But, then of course, when there's 1 or 2 zombies, it's very damn hard for them!

They start out with shotguns, yes, but they also start out with swords. Making a concious effort to switch weapons is a lot easier than having to run around, and try and find a sword someone hasn't already grabbed. And THEN try and find the bad guys. All before they kill you.

It's more the fact that if you can't find a sword, you have no ability to fight back.

As it is, most games start with pistols as the weapon on the map, and usually they don't respawn them, making them a valuable and limited resource for the humans.

Yeah, that's basically what we do now. Smile

Edit: Darn me for trying to watch Stargate and post at the same time. If only I had been quicker...

The problem with tweaking Zombies is the 'win' conditions. If you're the last human left alive (under any circumstances), you win. You get only small benefits by saving other humans or by killing zombies. You actually need to get your teammates killed to win. I won once just by hiding behind some boxes until all of the other humans were dead. What we need in Zombies is some reward for humans that stick together, and some way for the humans to defeat the zombies entirely.

We could play Zombies as rounds of multi-bomb assault. The zombies don't try to plant a bomb. Instead, they try to convert the humans. The humans work together to plant the bomb, and wipe out all of the zombies. Every time a human changes to a zombie, the human stays a zombie in the next round. Humans win by winning enough rounds to "wipe out" all of the zombies. Zombies win by converting all humans. The humans have an incentive to work together and maintain numerical strength. The last surving human doesn't win by hiding alone, because the zombies aren't wiped out. The starting lone zombie for a new match would be the person who had the most kills on either side in the last match.
