i know what you mean Kirsten, i thoguht i was an ok player but now when i hop on Live, i contstantly get whupped. There have been some good tips pointed out in this thread so maybe i'll take those to heart. I also think it's just plain unfamiliarity with the maps. oh well, practice makes perfect. The beekeepers I have played with so far have been so fun(especially the team games)!!!

man! everytime i play with you, you kick a lot of ass, i dont know what you are talking about

Number 1, and I can't stress this enough, don't get upset. I am an uber competitive person. If I'm losing it is extremely tempting for me to just go beserk on the next person I see, but when I get in that 'ticked off' mode I suck. I lose all focus, all I can think of is the score, and I get owned because of it.

Yeah well, easier said than done. Wink I'm a really really competitive person too, and when I go from winning everything to consistantly losing (nay, getting my butt whooped), it gets extremely discouraging.

I've definitely discovered that I do better with the larger maps. I can take my time, choose a target, kill, move on. With the smaller maps (ie, the Midship match I just played where I ended -1), there are too many targets coming at me at once and I get frazzled. I guess I'm not very good at thinking on my feet. If I calm down and start thinking more, I know I'll do considerably better. The problem is putting my words into practice.

I find it's helpful to be sneaky. When you see an enemy who hasn't seen you, don't jump on the trigger straight away, that'll just let them know you're there and they'll start firing back. I usually look around, see if I can use the terrain somehow to get the drop on them so I can force a situation where I can kill them before they can respond. Like, try to circle around them so you can punch 'em in the back of the head (instant kill).

And Angelo, I usually bash people during firefights as well. When my SMG clip runs dry the other guy's usually has too, so I can charge in and punch them in the face while they're reloading. They usually aren't expecting it and it's gotten me a lot of kills.

P.S. Is anyone else bummed that there isn't another verision of "Hang em High" in Halo2?

definitely, that was one of my favorite maps. Playing it with only rockets and 10 - 16 players was a blast.

Yeah, I wasn't dissing it as a legitimate strategy... I've just found that certain people (and I'm not saying any one here suffers from this) will just stop firing if some one gets close and start swinging. Against lower opponents it works fine, but it's usually best to save it as a last resort, or when you know you're safe ( you have full shields, and they're reloading with their sheilds down), or when you have a clear view of the back of their head.

As far as the thinking on your feet is concerned, that's some thing we can easily work on. I'll talk more about that when I have a chance Wink

More fun insanity this afternoon/evening. It's good to be humbled on a regular basis, I've found... it inspires improvement. When I'm cocky, I die. When I'm cornered, I kill. When I'm desperate, I forget basics. When I concentrate, I enter the zone, and when I'm in the zone I do this Cool ...

I had some good today, and some bad. I've found that I'm pretty freakin' good at flag-stealin'... and not too shabby at flag-defendin', either. One-on-one slayer vs Mike when he has a snipery-type weapon, however, I'm not so good at.

Nobody would believe me if I told them I started that match up 8-2 anyway... Neutral

TridenT's a very good player. I was just exploring Colossus - alone - 'cause I'd never played that level before, and TridenT joined in. In the span of about 2 minutes, he's up 8-2. I only caught up and won because I had a ridiculous 11 kills with the particle beam rifle (that level is WAY too big for just 2 people), but I honestly should have dropped it and actually played with TridenT. We're pretty evenly matched, except he may have the edge in the up close and personal department. There's something less honorable about sniping action, so that score isn't indicative of where he and I stand skill-wise.

I also played some team stuff later with him, and I was laughing as TridenT was muttering "PAYBACK, MIKE!" every time he schooled me.

'Til next time, TridenT! (ironchefmike shakes fist) 'Til next time!

Aw, man, it's snowing outside today - frickin' New England! whattodowhattodowhattodowhattodowhattodowhattodowhattodo?
