Why's that? Or was it the super-long game last night?

Anyone down for regular team training?

I propose just once a week get together for team based training. Clayfoot and I discussed how we have alot of fantastic players, but we have very little organization during a match. So instead of just talking about it, I'm poposing we do something about it.

Every Wed starting at 8pm EST.

The structure for the evening would go similar to this:
An arranged team game.
-At the lobby, discuss overall strategys for the map and divide into two teams
-At game start, everyone knows what stratgey is about to be praticed!

Focus on team movements and strategy first. Move on to map familiarity and territory identification. Both of these tasks can be accomplished on a per map basis. Finally designate and pratice team roles.

After people become familiar with the strategy, start a team training match against somone who will try to adapt to our strategy and monitor what they do to break our cohesive force. If time permits, we repeat.

I estimate that the training will take no longer than 1 hour after we get into a groove and more familiar with team movements. As people in the western time zones get online (compaired to EST) they can replace players who have to leave. Remaining players can demonstrate our latest tactics and either pratice with them or play with themselves:wink:

Is this even possible or do we have too many "individuals" to develop team strategies?
I'm not trying to get into serious competitions or anything, I just think we would shine if we had a little more cohesiveness.

I've often thought it would be interesting to appoint a commander for a game.

Last night on Coagulation (I think, not important really) INCyr at one point started giving orders. Basic things like "you and you stay back, the rest move up towards me." I think it made a difference. At the very least, it was a nice feeling to have a purpose all of a sudden.

I'd be up for formal training sessions, but you run into problems when in actual games you play with people who weren't there for training. If only two of you know the strategery, it isn't much use. It might be more time investment than its worth.

edit: last weekend I rented Brothers in Arms, which gave me a new appreciation for some basic tactics. I'm not so sure it'd translate directly that well into Halo, but I do find myself thinking more strategically now.

I'd be up, if a specific time is set, especially on a regular basis... easier to plan for that way, and I'm quite often very busy in the early evenings, so the easiest time for me to be on is later when everyone else is done, and that's only if I'm able to get on anyway... so if I know there's a specific time people are meeting, I can better arrange my plans to get on then. God knows it's been soooo long since I've been able to sit down and play an evening with everyone Crying or Very sad

I never said it was an original idea! I'm just trying to do something with it.

As for the people that were not there for pratice(s), they can just be the front line fodder Very Happy

OR we can plan for that in our pratice and count on having "foot soldiers" who will not be educated on our playbook, and know how to use them.

AKA -"The Distractors." They run around trying to cause general chaos while everyone else executes the plan.

I'm up for the idea of training, though Wednesday is the worst night for me as I'm always busy on Wednesday nights. Would any one be up for moving it to another night? Perferably Monday nights, but that's just my two cents.

Sure, we did. You can tell how well it turned out, since we all remember our appointment time so well.

The Unauthorized Halo 2 Battle Guide recommends that the commander be the sniper, if possible. The sniper usually has a good enough view of the battlefield to make recommendations.

Yes, I did so read it! What do you mean it doesn't show? I should give you such a headshot. Just.... hold... still...

I don't remember doing so, but I very well could have. I often shout things and give orders, mostly because I don't think anyone listens to me anyway Razz (It's a hold over from college, where I'd answer questions when no one else was willing to...)

But yes, I'm all up for having a "leader" of sorts. It usually makes things more efficent, and allows a place for the blame to go if we fail. On that note, I nominate Thunderclap for president, erm, I mean leader! Wink We should actually have a few, so that when person X isn't online, we aren't stuck. I'd be happy to be one of those, if we actually decide to implement this strategy.
