If the team has a strategy, I am more than happy to hunt with the pack and be a good wolf. I am a willing wingman during slayer games and will try to keep in voice contact with the team about opponent strategies and groupings.

If there is no strategy, I am full out BEAR. I am terrible at games like slayer and territories when the team has no strategy because I feel compelled to rush an opponent and try to inflict as much damage as possible before death. I hope only to cause enough damage that my teammates can collect some easy kills or gain control. It is not uncommon for me to have a stats line of 8 kills, 8 asst, 14 deaths during a game. My value as a bear is in CTF and assault games. I am more than willing to rush a base to start the flag moving or to get the bomb in the circle. I am also a willing human shield for a bomb or flag carrier if need be.

I have determined that, all too often, I am Lone Wolf.

Ouch.

-- Steve wishes he was more of a leader type when out in matchmaking... or was better at small-unit tactics anyway.

I think that we should be the Bee. Bees try to attack you by them selves are rather ineffective and quickly squashed, but as a swarm they kill quite effectively. Now swarming takes much less planing and tactics than the wolf pack but that also means that it is more adaptable. If one wolf is taken out then a good chunk of the plan is gone. But with a swarm, it doesnt really matter if one or two bees get splattered, there are always others to replace him.

In this sence I agin advocate waiting up for another bee or two after you respawn before diveing back into the fight. Of course this is advice that i myself forget to use...

Perhaps it would be best if we assigned buddies befrore the game starts so that everyone knows who their support person should be? That way when the match starts you already have a buddy. The problem becomes when one person dies and respawns on the other side of the map.
Do you:
a) Wait for the respawn person to make their way across the map to their buddy?
b) Go on alone
c) Look for the closest group of buddies and join up with them, and the respawned person waits and joins up with other respawners.

All of these are viable options but I think that option C is the best choice. Discussion to follow.

I pick "D"
kill who ever killed your buddy then hump his body till it is gone. Wink

This is the best alternative. People get killed all the time. Makes no sense to waste time/effort to get to your buddy.

I had the number 6, but everyone in my group mistook me for someone else. If I go with the bee, everyone here mistakes me for someone else.

So I've decided to switch it up again.

Forgive me while I put on my serious pet peeve hat for a moment.

I'd like to make another plea for people to PLEASE try to keep the idle chitchat to a minimum during a game. Even in a custom game, a nonstop prattling in the ear gets old really quick, especially when its something you don't care about whatsoever for ten minutes straight. I'm not gonna point any fingers specifically (this time), but the offenders probably Know Who They Are. In a matchmade game its even worse, as there's no chance to strategize.

Tonight someone asked why EvadeEvadeEvade and The Beekeepers don't merge. This issue would be one of the major stumbling blocks in my way of being in favor of it. It's not the only reason, but its a big one. When I end up quitting for the night (and I'm not the only one) early rather than sticking around solely because of the annoying chatter, its getting to be a big problem.

For example, there is no need to announce and brag about every double kill in a heavily populated, small arena oddball game. We all know you're getting them every 3 seconds. We are too. Or at the very least, please use local speak instead of the team speak button.

/me takes off hat
ooh look, shiny things... /me wanders off.

I know I can be part of this, and I'm trying to work on it. However, I also know I'm not the only one.

That's what the mute option is for. I use it often.

But I apologize for the times I do it in advance, and feel free to smack me around if I do it...

I try to reserve teamspeak for things that matter(although I've been guilty of absentmindedly hitting it when I've got nothing important to say). Local speak is for the other crap. I generally only brag about kills if I break triple kill ;p up to that point it happens far too often.
