I'm more frustrated with uneven teams in games like assault or CTF. I know on sanctuary today, we couldn't get any offensive going because there were just too many on the opposition.

Okay, I'll turn on the handicap, but no more whining when I beat you down.

Granted, I don't know you (yet), but that can't be a beautiful sight ...

I'm not sure about handicaps. For starters, there are a lot of people between level 11 and 14, myself included. If the 15+ people turn on handicaps, they might suffer when they play against those guys. I still think the best way to handle this is to divide the teams better ...

Oh, and the update will come today! New playlists, New maps on matchmaking and Stats reset! Woot Cool

It would also be nice to see some of the sniper whores try something else for a while. I've gone back to my very first combo (SMG+magnum), because I just can't get a claim on anything, any more. I don't want to fight for it, I feel bad when people ask me if I want to snipe. I don't, right now. It's not worth it.

And if someone feels the need to tell me in the lobby that spawn-camping and sniping the hell out of the other team is OK when it's just us beekeepers, because well, you know, "it's gonna happen in matchmaking, so ... ..."

... don't bother to patronize me with this information, OK? I know it happens in matchmaking. All sorts of stuff happens in matchmaking. I play with you guys for fun, not to spawn and then get picked off within seconds. I suppose it's more important for you to rack up those headshot/snipe medals than it is to actually play a game with me, seeing as how I sometimes spend more time re-spawning than actually getting to run around the maps at all.

I'm not a fan of it, but seeing as how the only map where is it just supremely easy to get is collosus,*soo noy spelled right* I still don't agree with it completely unbalancing the game. I like to use it on some maps, but I tend to go more often for a reggy battle rifle with it's amed up accuracy because it's just plain easier, and you don't get snuck up on while your charging the pp. Mad
Me and Vash played with these German guys all afternoon today and I gotta say, I approve of the BR sooo much more after the update, we were playing straight slayer games but with Br spawns, and it was just a hell of alot more fun, especially at the small maps, becasue it made sniping so less of an uberpower, I'm going to be happy with the new playlists, reeeaaalll happy!

Okay, but what about camping with the ghost and splattering people as they spawn? No good? With the warthog? No? How about if I let them take a few steps first?

BTW, one of the Halo books has a small word of advice for when someone is spawn killing with the sniper rifle: Hit the 'B' button (melee) as soon as you spawn, and keep doing it until you reach cover. The melee movement bobs your head just a little, and the jerky movement makes you harder to hit. Whatever you do, don't jump. When you're in the air, your trajectory is totally predictable for about 3 whole seconds. Want to make your movement really jerky? Hit the melee button with the crouch button as you run. If you have your controller configured in the 'boxer' setting, click the two sticks as you run.

You're completely missing the point. Playing custom games with you guys isn't about winning using whatever means necessary. It's about playing around and having fun. We ganked your flag in record speed that round, and lo and behold there's somebody already camping the base when we get back. He was there the whole damn round, and that's pretty rotten if you ask me. The point where you were all there defending, that was understandable, but he was just sitting there. In the corner. Camping.

Obnoxious.

If this was directed at me, I'd like you to find a non-matchmaking game in the last, oh, three months where I did ANY of that to an extent where it would even come close to 'camping.'

I think Jinxie phrased it pretty well.

The CTF scuffle last night was literally my first actual game on that map. I'd previously done exploration twice on Turf - the first time, I walked around for about five minutes and then got a phone call, and then two nights ago did a bit of jumping around with Vash and Jinx.

I mean, if you justify these actions as, "well, it's done in matchmaking!!!" -- why don't you all start teabagging, and rock on with various misogynistic comments when you gun me down, or maybe you could turn your music up really loud and whistle and scream non-stop, too? They do that in matchmaking, after all.

Krystyn's right, spawn camping is a bitch. Mutant was sniping everyone and everything as soon as they spawned during that game yesterday, and I realise that could be real real shitty. Though Krystyn, if you want to snipe tell us, and be boisterous because otherwise we won't hear you, boys and their toys n all. Wink

I totally agree about playing for fun. But I'm not totally with you about the way the games are played. On your example, if that guy was camping your base, it's one less guy defending their base! It's probably part of the reason why you guys could grab the flag in record speed. It's the same thing with spawn camping. I played a game of assault with beekeepers on Turf where the other team, while defending, would keep spawn killing us. While annoying, it was clear that if we somehow could sneak the bomb to their base, we would find little resistance there.

All I'm saying is that these "strategies" are not a clear way to win a game. It's pretty gray if it should be considered "cheap" or not ... I personally don't think it's cheap, but I do think it's innappropriate to use them on custom games, because they frustrate the hell out of the other team!

It's like playing Team Slayer on Coag. Grifter and I had a couple of games where we would grab rockets and whore all the vehicles. It gets so frustrating to the other team, that most of them just quit. I wouldn't do it against beekeepers, but at the same time, I don't think it's a cheap tactic. It's just a way to win the game ...

Maybe we should write some "rules" or best practices for custom games ...

Well speaking for our team, that one round where you nabbed the flag all quick like and got it back. The only reason we were all over there is because we were stopping you from getting the flag when it was two inches from the flag score. After that, anyone who stayed over there killing you was being an asshole, and I can't speak for em.

I was, and then people started offering me the sniper rifle all guilty-like, and that made me feel terrible, so I just stopped going for it. I just wanted to get better at it, not appear like I was hogging it, or looking to be a one-trick pony with it.
