Like I said last night, when we got a Containment game -without- cheaters:

"It's like we're not even playing Halo, any more. It's like we're in some screwed-up demo version of the game, and some jerk is just showing off and glitching, and we're here just to watch."

Usually I feel a little chilly on Containment, or like the surface of the map is almost like a whole 'nother team to play against, because it's so huge. I like finding the smoothest running course that is also the safest, going between surface, tunnel, and middle trench, using jumps to keep my head from being perforated in a one-shot sniper attempt.

After the second mod cheat, the map felt all fake and wrong. It really is surreal to see the cheaters jumping around the map so quickly, like they're um, those weird glitchy-looking dudes in Starcraft, the Dark Templars or Archons or whatever. It's like they were able to completely strip the ambience of the map for me, and that's pretty frustrating.

In other news, I played a bit o' the Halo CE, since I hadn't on this new XBox, and it's pretty amazing at how much better I've gotten at the whole FPS thing. I am much more comfortable with melee, although it seems more difficult in this game than in H2. My timing was all off. The sniper sound is more satisfying in CE, somehow. It seems quicker.

To give you an idea: it took me months when I first got the game a few years ago to win it, on Easy. I died a lot. I used a plasma pistol like a regular pistol. I never had a good secondary weapon as backup. I'm playing on Normal now, just cos I didn't feel like spending too much energy, but I may up the difficulty cos it's almost boring, and I haven't died once (currently somewhere in the first stages of being on Halo, rescuing stranded Marines). I'm not a great player, by any means, but I am so, so, so much better now than I used to be.

Try Legendary! I finished on Legendary way before I got halo2, so I'm assuming I'm much better now, due to Live, and should be able to finish it easier. It was harder than Ninja Gaiden, for sure! Halo CE Legendary is one of the best single-player experience I've had. AI is very challenging and it's funny how you have to start using weapons that you didn't use on normal or heroic, like needlers or charged plasma pistols on elites. It's a whole different game!

It really was just as abrupt as everyone said it was.

Even though I'd been partly spoiled and all, trying my best not to be, I was still shocked to get to that tiny cut scene, and have the credits roll.

Unbelievable.

I did take a little time to goof around on a couple levels after I saw the teaser after the credits, and did you know? you will DIE if you climb up on top of the suspension bridge in Metropolis and fall! Wink

Oh, and also? I died a few times fighting Tartarus, but I knew why I was being dumb, so the next time I was much more careful, and all the NPCs actually finished the job for me. Between Sarge and the other covies knocking down his shields and beating on him, I only slashed at him once or twice, and then escaped to the top level of that area to escape, and then suddenly Miranda grabbing the icon thingy, and it was all over.

So I think that was part of it. I didn't even really help kill the Big Boss, and here it was, Game Over.

w. t. f.

I'm not pissed, but I do feel kinda weird.

I have a suggestion, seeing as Sgt AtDt isn't around to play very often, with him having kids and all, I think we should have one of the other founding members be given the overlord title. I know that it isn't all that huge of a deal, but I figure that Krystyn, the second person to join the clan and who still plays a whole bunch, should be given that title too. Just in case it's ever needed for summat. Very Happy I just happened to notice today that we don't actually have a second overlord when Vector mentioned it this afternoon. Just an idea.

I shoved him off the edge the second time through
Hehe, you know those ten minutes after the elimination game where I took off? I was playing a game with those guys from Hbo we had a run in with, and it was pretty much the same as playing with you guys, they weren't any more jerks then the rest of us. Anyways, we played against 2070 films, that site or whatever, some grudge match they had going on, and they we're losing all bad like, and I came in and pulled the flag back to the base like thre times in a single neutral flag game, all by myself, and then managed to get splattered by a banshee all three times, it was funny, but we ended up beating em back. Yay for Dante! Rolling Eyes
Tj- Very Happy

I really don't see the need. ATDT is the man! We never needed this before and I don't think we'll need this anytime soon.

Ah yea, true, I really don't even have a clue waht exactly the difference is between staff and overlord, I just thought it might be helpful with him not here too much.

Hi, Tiny, I know that sometimes working on a degree seems like having children, what with the time consumption and the money drifting away like beautiful green fog that burns, but I assure you they are not the same, and the first time you try to get your degree to mow the lawn, you're in for a nasty surprise.

That said, E3 is for the people, my man, and I made as many people "staff" as I could when we started. The only difference between OL and Staff is that one fellow staff member can't can another staff member. All other group options are available.

As far as I know, no one's ever been kicked out of the clan since we've begun. Krystyn's certainly totally reliable, and if she asks for it, she can have it without question, but does it matter?

Also, I find that I'm on when no one else is on, or only one other person. Don't know why my schedule is funky relative to everyone else's. Matchmaking is so unrewarding compared to custom play that I often stop after a few games.

Isn't that a shame? I mean it says a lot for the merit of playing with beekeepers, but it also says a great deal about the suck-value of playing with 'others'. I'm becoming xenophobic. (and how ironic, that I play a covie)
