Looks like that is the best way to donate to the red cross.

Dante:

MLG has posted some details on the Last Chance Qualifier:

Quote:

Last Chance Qualifier

1. Last Chance Qualifiers are open entry tournaments on Day 1 of a Conference Championship weekend for players that have not earned an invitation to a particular tournament. Last Chance Qualifiers for Halo 2 will contain an FFA, Pool Play, and Single Elimination Bracket.

2. The Last Chance Qualifier Halo 2 FFA will seed the LCQ's Halo 2 4v4 event. The current Halo 2 points standings will seed the Conference Championship Halo 2 4v4 event.

3. All players with an invitation to either the Halo 2 FFA or 4v4 event, but not both, will have the opportunity to participate in the Last Chance Qualifier in the event they don't yet have an invitation for for a fraction of the entry fee.

4. The top 4-11 players in the Last Chance Qualifier FFA will receive an invitation to the Halo 2 Conference Championship FFA to take place later that weekend.

5. The top 4 in the Last Chane Qualifiers for the Halo 2 4v4, SSBM Singles & 2v2, and Tekken 5 events will receive an invitation to the respective Conference Championship to take place later that weekend.

6. No cash prizes will be awarded.

So there is no cash prize for that.

The FFA portion of the LCQ is on Friday Night, so yeah we'd have to be there by morning.

Vash said he will throw the idea out to his parents and see if they would let him join us. In the meantime I will keep my ears open.

Oh, and I also got my Dad to get a few of those Halo 2 Hurricane Relief shirts. Very Happy

Apologies to those I ducked out on tonight - the DSL burped, and I realized in the ensuing silence that I hadn't been having much fun, anyway.

I am a little frustrated at some of the passive-aggressive stuff I'm seeing in some of these posts lately, because I feel like it's partially directed at me. If you'd like to say something to me, please do. Take it backchannel, whatever. At least have the courtesy to let me know that I've specifically done something that irks you. I don't know that I've felt this uncomfortable in a long while.

Because it's not a matter of being exclusive. It's a matter of common courtesy. I never get introduced to anyone, I just get thrown into these massive games where teams are extremely uneven, and everyone's really, really competitive.

It reminds me of the early days when I truly did suck, except back then I had people to back me up and take time to work with me. People at least made an effort to be more polite, and not brag about every single last kill they made.

That was 9 months ago, and I've gotten somewhat better, but I will tell you this: I still want to play Halo for fun and relaxation, and when all I do is see the re-spawn screen because there are players who still refuse to let go of the sniper for one minute, I get frustrated, and down. I try to explain that I am frustrated, or that I'd like to leave and do matchmaking, but I am never heard, because of the constant stream of chatter. I am not going to spend ten minutes audio messaging everyone in the party to say where I am going, you know?

I miss bumper cars, and I miss people listening to each other. I miss people teaching each other, and taking a minute or two to be social and calm.

There are a lot of people who don't come around any more, and I won't speak for some of them as to their reasons, but I do know that several don't have nearly as good of a time as they used to, because the dynamic has changed. So they don't come around. And I miss them. I still play in big groups and have fun, but more and more I come away feeling beaten down and frustrated. Ugh.

This is really the only FPS I've ever played, and do play with any regularity whatsoever. I come to XBL for the community, but each time I come back, I see less of it. A lot of my favorite names drop off my friends list because subscriptions expire, and a whole host of other reasons. I've been trying to explain for months my frustrations with the gameplay lately, but I sorta feel like I never get heard.

I don't really have good stories to come back here with, any more. Just an endless echo in my head of how many head shots so-and-so got, and how 'pwned' those other guys were in team training.

In other words, I miss \/\/onderboy.

Krystyn, the Dynamic hasn't changed, your just getting bored of the game. Happens all the time, happened with me for Halo one. I do think some things are getting old, but because you were brought to the game for different reasons, different reasons make you dislike it.
Either way, it was bound to happen eventually. You've been seeming to focus on the negatives points alot more lately, and distancing yourselves from us. (By us I mean the other shade of Beekeepers) Whatever, that's your prerogative but there are some people who still care, I know Tsuki's getting her feelings hurt by it, just as you would if we would ditch you.
Spend the five minutes to explain what's going on if you drop out and invite only a few people with you. We'd do it for you. I've already stated what Irked me, and it isn't just your part, it was most of the Evaders.
My request for staff or someone who was on at my time to be staff was ridiculed and laughed at and critisized, where as, with the Beekeepers, it was done before I actually even asked about it.
You guys were supposed to be the laid back, nearly laissez faire clan and the Beekeepers were supposed to be the uber competative ones. That hypocritical condition that was imposed unto me is why I left Evade. I mean lately, it's been the Beekeepers who seem more laid back.
We play custom games, or any types of playlists that are wanted by the majority, regardless of people's levels or skill. There have been times where we have left, to go do different things, such as film or do matchmaking when everyone was doing custom or something, but we always make it known whats going on. THe other night we simply said, hey, we're gonna film a few scenes, you can stay and hang out n help us, or you can go do matchmaking. We didn't ditch people, and we completely communicated what was going on. Seems polite and Laid back to me at least.
Anyways, you gotta realize, how are we supposed to keep track of who you've met and who you haven't? If we play with someone and don't know them, ask who they are, and you'll be introduced shortly thereafter. You can't be mad that we didn't introduce you immediatly, and then not mention it then and now, because that doesn't help the problem. I can't count how many times I've had to ask who someone is and then was told and made the general greetings. It works, and I was never offended by it.
I mean when your trying to grab a flag and dodge a sniper, it's kinda hard to pull up back dated info about who knows who.

I admit to getting bored with the game. But I get bored, or perhaps more accurately frustrated, precisely because the dynamic has changed.

I share Krystyn's frustration re: snipering in particular. Some of us (myself particularly included) just aren't as good as others, I admit it. And that's fine. I simply just don't have the time to be the best. So when I have one of my rare moments of game playing I'm doing it to relax. When I spend 90% of the time in a respawn screen and reading "You were sniped by XXX", that isn't fun. I'm quite sure that being sniper XXX is indeed fun. But not so much for the snipee. I just can't compete.

And the silly games that really helped me relax (bumper cars, zombies, etc) seem to have fallen by the wayside. That's probably mainly because most of the people who preferred them have dropped off the radar. (Waters, where are you?) I understand that most of those who remain seem to be more competitive than I'd prefer. Can't really fault anybody for that, its just the way it is.

To sum up, please understand why some of us are frustrated. The dynamic is changing, and probably can't/shouldn't be stopped. But that doesn't mean we have to be happy about it.

I doubt you are talking about me, but that is slightly one of the reasons why I kind of faded out. Being one of those people who really didn't have the chance to play that often I couldn't really rise at the same pace the rest of you did. There was some gloating and one-up-manship then, but more in a playful nature, so while I really haven't played at all recently, I still have a feeling that I know where you are coming from krystyn. This is going to be true in any game, but we here are more than just gamers, we are friends, that is why I got Live in the first place, and I think I still have it. Sometimes people pull off incredible feats of fragging in the game, and there isn't that much of a problem with celebrating it, just maybe apologizing to a person you frag a few times in a row can go a long way though.

Fun games like destruction derby, or meteors? Very Happy
Games we play every night by demand on demand?
You guys have to understand that these games, like any other are fun because we make them fun. Try actually suggesting that we play one of these games, Krystyn, if this is your concern, note that you are usually party leader when everyone groups up. (And we all take turns playing a game of 'toss the party leadership about', so this applies to everyone.) It means you make the match, you choose the game. I know it sounds a bit tyranical, but sieze some power girl! Razz Smile

I'm not wholly competitive (Get me on a street with a pair of road comps and that's a different story).
I'm here for fun too, but part of having fun is ensuring that everyone is having a good time, and that you are not enjoying yourself at another's expense. Because to me, that's just not fun.

But a few people have instead of asking or making recommendations just taken off and selected a few people to follow. That's just rude and it (regardless of intent) has hurt people's feelings.
(Once again, and you all know how much I hate repetition so pay very close attention because I'm only going to type this one more time, I AM NOT REFFERING, DIRRECTING, or IMPLYING THIS TOWARDS ANY ONE PERSON, if you feel otherwise I'm sorry but it's just not intended to be taken that way.)

What would/DO I do?
Say for instance a situation I have been in many times before, I am annoyed that I've been sniped too many times by Rodney. I don't want to play a game with him spawn sniping me, so I say, "Twiztedmatt1007, your sniping is a bit much for me/us tonight, so if you don't mind I'm/we're going to go and play a calm game of Destruction derby." Situation applies for anyone in any situation.
Doesn't hurt anyone's feelings, doesn't start drama, just splits the party and players play their respective games.
Even get in a few games of good 'ol Bumper Cars.

So why can't it be that simple when anyone else is in a game? Why must it be some elaborate drama?

There is no excuse for rudeness, and there is no excuse for getting all worked up over something this ridiculous.

Just grow up, all of you.

And before I forget why it is I came to post here tonight,

Catchtwentytwo-

"<fireb[a]ll> Refugee - (n.) One who flees to a shelter, or place of safety."

The Victims of hurricane Katrina qualify as both Refugees and as Evacuees, as they evacuated from their homes, but they are now claiming refuge elsewhere.

As I've said a number of times if anyone has a problem with me sniping I'll give it up. For the most part I've been asking at the beginning of a round if someone else would like to snipe, if no one says anything I pick it up. I put restrictions on myself to not spawn kill. I only kill those who come at me first or if they're going after my team or if my team would use the kill otherwise I just let them continue on with their life. Others who are sniper whores, like me, should do the same thing, I no it's not fun to be sniped over and over and over by the same person, it's been done to me plenty of times. So just put down the sniper and if someone else wants to have a hand at it let them and go do something else, whether that's base defense, picking up a Battle Rifle, or cowering in a corner of the map bitching (to yourself, with your mic muted, on the other side of the map) that you aren't sniping. Once again, if I start to piss people off let me know, I'll stop, and I always love to play bumper cars! I don't know what you're talking about Incit. Laughing

I'll say it again: I -have- attempted to let people know where I am going. It is nearly impossible with the level of chatter. It is usually because of the level of chatter that I end up leaving.

Also, I am not bored with the game. I am frustrated with the dynamic. There's a difference.

And Incit, I would like to politely ask that you stop referring to generic incidents without backing it up. If you could point me to some rudeness that I have personally instigated against Tsuki, please, by all means, detail it so that I have some way of attempting to rectify the situation. It would also be awesome if the person who personally felt something would also speak up, because it's really uncomfortable to keep reading stuff like, "Well, someone is still feeling really bad about stuff, and I totally hate that their feelings are hurt because of the really uptight and elite people."

Look, call me a hypocrite if it makes you feel better. But if that's your idea of fun, to insinuate and then to try and smooth it over with platitudes, understand, Incit, that that frustrates me. I can't do anything with that.

I take leadership as much as I can in a party. But as we get to 16 people, and the chatter level goes up, there's not much I can do about 16 different opinions.

Seriously, this is all OK with me, if it's changing. But I'll tell you again, I am -not- bored with the game. I am telling you all how I feel. I'll learn to deal with it. I just really hate coming back to this forum and seeing veiled remarks about the 'politics' surrounding what, for me, is Fun Time.

I've always appreciated your attempts, Twizzler, to change up your playing and to ask directly about the sniper. I've noticed it, even though I dread when other people don't speak up to take it. Wink

There are just a good many of us who aren't about the winning, or the skill level, or the medals, or the omg-did-you-see-how-I-totally-beat-you-down-with-my-cankle. Not to say that a lot of you -are- to any -massive- extreme, but certainly to an extent that I feel it.

I'm just not that good! And I am OK with that! (Usually Wink ) I like playing with all of you to some extent, otherwise I wouldn't continue trying.

Spend the five minutes to explain what's going on if you drop out and invite only a few people with you. We'd do it for you.

See, every single time this gets referred to, I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

There is one night when I left either because something happened IRL to cause me to, or my DSL burped, or I left because I was frustrated enough that trying to explain would probably make me sound like a jerk.

I was in a new lobby afterwards, and suddenly a bunch of people from the game I had just left had joined me. I had no idea why they were there, and I was actually dismayed that they'd all just left so quickly. I wondered what had happened to the game. omalice messaged me, asking why everyone had left. I messaged back, saying I did not know why -they- had left, but that I had left on my own, for whatever reason. Independent of anyone else. I said I was sorry, that I did not ask these people to leave, and that I didn't know what happened in the game to cause them to leave.

If that's the incident you're referring to (because I specifically remember omalice and tsuki being perhaps the only two left behind once the rest left), that's happened -once-. And I didn't even do anything. I did not specifically ditch Tsuki, I did not ask that the other leave suddenly. They did it on their own.

I have tried to work it on occasion to actually be on Highway's team, but after a few tries, it seems like it's not destined to be. I never get to play with her, only against her, so I can only imagine what sort of impression's she's gotten, if you or anyone else is telling her that I specifically ditch people, or that I am rude.

FWIW, Tsuki, once I had played with you a few times, I was totally OK with you. You can be really chatty on occasion, but so can we all. I have never actually specifically ditched you.

I think the only people I've ever ditched are people who invite all sorts of unknowns into the party who then proceed to smacktalk and dominate the map, or act sort of freaky (like that guy who followed me around on Warlock, heh, what a nerd!). My annoyance trigger on that is pretty fine, as it's a pretty obnoxious thing to do. It even happened last night at one point, where the teams were incredibly uneven because the new invitees and the inviters did not attempt to even the numbers at all. Instead of leaving, we decided to change to their team, to demonstrate that there was a problem. Heh, everyone was so confused!

I just wonder if maybe newer people don't know me as well, or know how much sincere affection I have for this community. I think it's also fair to request a bit of understanding when I am feeling frustrated, and need a few moments to myself.

Somehow I've missed being in these games, I'll have to keep my eyes open more. But i'm very glad to hear they're still in rotation!

See, this usually happens when I'm not online, like I said, I'm never online when the rest of you are, and I always here about it from Tsuki or Omalice or whoever was the one that got ditched that night. I hear about it alot. Like once or twice a week, and that's too much. Anyways, it's between you guys, I mentioned it because you asked. I don't want to be a part of the whole she said, he said thing we seem to have going on here. It's only happened to me personally once or twice and it never bothered me, I like playing in much smaller parties. So since this doesn't concern me, I'm taking a step out of the circle.
