I love you...goodbye.

I should be preparing for a meeting right now, but I felt compelled to say something at this point, and sometimes priorities must be adjusted.(Perhaps I'm more "into" the game than you feel comfortable with; that's fine, you don't have to read this.)

I can still hear Melissa's final words. The grown-up part of me wants to analyze the voice acting and contemplate how much of its effect was the director and how much the innate talent of the voice actress...and then I tell it to shut up. Because it doesn't matter. All that matters is that the words she uses and her tones as she uses them resonate with me at a very deep level. I respond to that in a way I can't fully articulate; when someone tells me "I love you" in such a heartfelt way, it stays with me. So it was acting. So it was prerecorded. I don't care. The passion that went into it -- be it the actor's, the director's, or both -- is very, very real, and it's something that I want to cling to forever.

But I know that I shouldn't. I'm a firm believer that one of the easiest ways that good can be tainted or even corrupted is when we cling to something good longer or harder than we should. There comes a time to move on, to read a different story, make new friends, examine a different part of one's life.

And so it is with sadness that I delete the ILB bookmarks from my browser. But before I go, let me say to Bungie, to Sean Stewart and the other writers, to Kristen Rutherford and the other voice actors, to Phaedra, thebruce, SuperJerms, and to all of the Beekeepers, unafraid to share their thoughts about heavy matters like God, Good, and Evil...to all of the members of the I Love Bees community...I love you.

Goodbye.

i agree that it is very sad that the ILB experience is over, but....
What made the experience truly magical was not the puzzles, or the audio drama, or the Sleeping Princess, although they were all compelling.
At my job, I sit in a cubicle all day, writing web pages, answering user calls, working on server projects, but essentially, I do it alone. I'm not a big fan of my job, its boring, i can't connect with any of the other people who work here personally or idealogically. So I would fire up the Haunted Apiary in a firefox tab every morning and keep it open all day (now you know why my post count is disgustly embarrassingly high). Reading what you all had to say, giving my insight, laughing at the jokes, wracking my brain at the puzzles. It was as if my physical body was here in my cube, but my mind was in big living room, sitting around with my friends. The best part of that, is that unfiction/argn will still be here for a long long time. And new alternate reality games will be created for us to enjoy. I can't wait to see what's next.

So come on Trynian, don't go anywhere just yet!

Shocked My name.

I'm always surprised to see my name. Very Happy

I've met a fantastic group of people here at unfiction, and I will be remaining. I am not certain which ARG I will participate in next, certainly many will pale in comparison to those run by the creators of The Beast and The Hive (the name at the top of the credits on the ILB DVD).

But, regardless, I sincerely hope to remain in contact with you all. Some may drift away, but I'm sure that those who remain interested in ARGs and those who are interested in Halo/Halo2 and Xbox Live will have many hours ahead of them (and me) to get to know you (and me) better.

I look forward to the fun. Very Happy

I second the motion, Mazian. Though ILB has set the expectation bar rather high...

-- Steve'd like to thank Bobeo for the kind sentiments, too... this has been an E-ticket ride, and the other riders in the car were as much fun as the event itself.

I'll miss you, too

Well, for me this was an antidote to missing academia. I have a very nice job...where I'm either swamped or doing nothing. And for the last month or so, it's been the latter. The puzzles, the debates, the speculation, it all gave me an opportunity to think, and for that, and the beauty of the community here, I am very grateful.

I don't know if I will ever do another ARG. If I have another dry spell, and 42 is doing another one, I might. I'll definitely stick around here until things like the Q&A with the PMs are done.

But whatever happens, this has been an experience to remember with delight. Thank you to everyone here. I don't want to start naming people because it will be an extraordinarily long post, and inevitably I'll forget someone. But thank you.

I've often wondered, when this is over, what will I do with myself. I've spent every day browsing the forums, trying to help the cause, making a post every now and then, always fearful of the trout. I've listened to every wav file. And have listened to them all in one sitting now. *Phew* Talk about an endurance test.

I have emailed Dana to see if she could send me a DVD, and for that, I desperately hope I get one, to have something to remember this whole experience by. This was my first delving into the ARG experience, it will certainly not be my last.

To the PMs: You guys were amazing. I was wondering some days ago that you guys deserve an award of some kind. I hope this whole thing doesn't sink into obscurity because this was an amazing experience, something that transcends the ordinary boundaries of "entertainment" or "advertising". I have spent more time on this ARG than any video game.

Of course I'll stick around the forums until the endgame fervor dies down, and we get the PM Q+A. After that, who knows...

So long and thanks for all the bees...

*smiles* Trynian, if this means what I think it does, then I'm going to miss you. But I've been talking to Kristen Rutherford (Melissa/Durga/SP) via e-mail, and I get the distinct impression that she DOES love us. That she WILL miss us, and that for a while, she WAS all of those characters. Just like we were crewmembers on the Apocalypso, or at least the ILB website. And I, for one, will miss you all, too. Because even though I'm not planning to leave this forum any time soon, it will never be the same. When those air raid sirens came on, that was the end. "They're here" and now we've got to move on and survive the best we can.

So thank you all. PM's and players alike. It's definitely been a ride to remember, and fondly at that.

For what its' worth, I love you all, too. So, from Ensign Dragonrider, goodbye. (until the 9th, that is!)

I've said this before in the IRC chat, but I honestly think this is one of the best online communities I have ever come across. Such a tightly-knit web of thoughtful, friendly people - it's like nothing I've ever really seen before.

I loved ILB, but I think I loved it even more because of this forum. All of you are wonderful. I can fully believe that Kristen Rutherford honestly appreciates and loves us all all for her interactions with us. I can say I've had a great time doing everything I can to be a part of the proceedings.

Salutations to everyone here. Red balloons all around!

I and a few others are trying to organize a 'thank you and goodbye' project to send to the PMs and voice actors from ILB in this thread:

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7925

Most of the posts here would be a perfect fit for this project, and I would love it if any or all of you would like to contribute.

in response to that first thread, I have to say, after meeting kristin at the san francisco event, how she reacted to meeting the players she talked to voer the phone, everything about her. It wasn't acting, she truly meant it when she said she loves us.

I also love the way she signed my dvd, "All your bees are belong to op" Kristin rocks!
