The only negative I really felt was at the ending... I heard what everyone talked about how the ending was so bad and all that, but I couldn't believe it was that bad... thankfully, I never felt it was a 'bad' ending, but it is kind of anti-climactic, especially if they don't have plans for a sequel or continuation novel... other than that, totally agree - the game is amazing... pretty much echoes what most/all of the reviews say... the loss in the ending is more than made up with the quality of the game itself.

oh yeah, and multiplayer... I miss the small 2-4 player maps... they don't have a player number recommendation for each map any more... I tell you, some of the most fun we had on multiplayer was 4 player rockets on wizard Smile we even tried *16* player rockets on wizard... that was madness!

alas, at this point, none of that exists yet in Halo 2 :'(

If Wizard is the one with all the portals I know exactly what you mean..I've had great fun on that one with rockets.

Another fun game me and my friends invented was on..crap, what's it called..The big snow one..Anyway, you set it to have warthogs. You set one warthog aside that no one can touch then everyone battles for the other one..It's hilarious! Two or more people are battling to gain possession of the warthog and while they're in battle another person sneaks up and snags the warthog from under them, laughing as they go speeding away.

My friends and I would have a lot of fun on Damnation 2v2 CTF. We would play for hours on that one map.

To be honest....I haven't really touched anything with multiplayer yet. I'm trying to stick with campaign mode first. I heard that its shorter than Halo 1 campaign mode. But in what I've seen so far...it has far surpassed, IMO, anything I encountered in Halo 1. Great. F'n. Game.

No, we hate the portal one... and Longest... Wizard is the very small brown one that has the central structure and the four 'corners' with invisibility across from each other and shields in the other two corners, and 4 teleports on the ground level...

no dead ends, no good hiding places, just one big blood bath with at least 4 people on rockets... da best

Then of course, there was always rocket fun to be had in Marathon... I loved using the Spanker on people because I was so good at long distance shots. Someone across an open arena would be running after another person, both going one straight direction... I aim and fire thirty feet ahead of 'em... they arrive just in time to go splatter all over the wall.

God I loved the Thunderdome.

How ironic. I leave this topic with the final post, come back to use it for something else and find an old wish granted!

(For those on the morning pre-coffee non-buzz or otherwise mentally decelerated: Thunderdome in Marathon 2 = Foundation in Halo 2)

Anyways, I come to re-iterate my statement from topic creation. Stay away from the GameFAQs Halo 2 board at all costs.
Also, do any of you know why everyone suddenly seems to think February 9th will be special? (I see topics with that date mentioned, but nobody says why.)

From what I gather, if you beat campaign on legendary during the credits there is a line that sayss somehting like "See you Feb 9th".

I have not beaten legendary only heroic, so from me to you it is second hand info. I have no idea how many internet hands pssed that info before I saw it. I don't even remember what forum I was at when I read it.

<energy sword rant>
I wonder if Bungie will be able to 'fix' the sword through an XBL patch. I've been playing multiplayer with my friends and the score are usually pretty close on the larger boards, but something like Mid-Ship or Lock Out, my friend makes a beeline for the sword (even after admitting that it's way overpowered in multi [c'mon infinite energy, only one per board ever?]) and the final score ends up like 50, 18, 16, 14. Without the sword it's closer to 50, 47, 40, 37. I'm just wondering why they took out the swords energy limit on Multi, and limited it to only one onthe entire board. Surely it woul dhave been much more balanced if it had an energy limit, or if you could have more than one guy with it. But that's just my opinion.

Swords are pretty powerful, but it's possible to counter. Sure, there are times where it seems unstoppable, but only on the hands of a good player! Good players will always ambush with the sword, giving you little chance to kill them. I find pistol + smg or plasma rifle + smg the best way to handle sword guys.

Two Words: Plasma Grenade.

If you see some swordmonkey charging towards you, slap a Blue Surprise on his faceplate. It doesn't matter that he's coming at you; you'll die by the sword or the 'nade.

Do this every time you see someone holding the sword, and their tactics may change.

The first problem is, that only works if you see them coming, and they don't know how to dodge. If I see him a thte end of corridor, he knows he's dead cause I WILL have 2x SMG. And I'm really good with them. The other problem is that you get killed too. This means that if eh only got one other kill with the sword, that's still a 2-1 ratio.
