[Halo 2] High Charity

Question/ observation:

In the first scene of H2, we get a view of the Covenant Holy City, High Charity. It is behind a planet, close to the reckage of Halo.

Fast forward a few levels and right after you *itch slap the life out of Regret, there is a cut scene. Cortana remarks that "that's the largest covenant fleet ... anyone's ever seen." If you look, somewhere in that fleet, High Charity's silouette shows up. More evidence of High Charity's proximity to Delta Halo in the second half of the story comes from the recording of one of the prophet's speech where he talks about the flood taking over high charity.

So, is High Charity capable of Slipspace travel? Maybe like the Death Star? Also, since the noble heirarchs, and council seem to have their meetings on high charity, so it seems like it maybe their "home planet"

As I understand it, anything near a ship when it uses the slipstream goes with it (as demonstrated at the closing of Metropolis when half of the city as well as a small human ship get taken with the Covenant ship). If an entire fleet goes to slipspace, they could probably create a field massive enough to drag High Charity with them. And if that's not the case, then maybe the city does have slipspace capabilities. To answer your other question, High Charity is the Covenant Holy city, so it's practically the center of their universe, aye.

It was, at least until the end of Halo 2, anyway.

Now it belongs to the Gravemind and the Flood, which bears a striking resemblance to the Beast from Homeworld: Cataclysm.

High Charity has a Forerunner ship right down the middle of it. They use it to power their city, I have no doubt that they used it to enter slipspace as well.

It reminded me of the Death Star too, except the Fleet glasses planets, and not High Charity itself. Wink

I thought of the Unyielding Hierophant when I first saw it. The description given of the UH in First Strike would basically look like two High Charitys connected point to point with docking rings around the center.
