no offense to those who got the game, but if this is true, then this is bull****. many people have been up late hours for weeks trying to solve this thing. everything is still unsolved, and a couple of people who email somewhere first get free copies early while others who have worked long and hard to get nowhere, end up with nothing.

thanks nintendo. way to run an ARG.

i'm still gonna keep playing though, and i know any prize is better than nothing. they don't have to give us anything. but if what happened is true, it is extremely not fair.

Hey, I just emailed a little bit ago. Like around 8. And got an email back from AA and replied with my address.

Go try yourself.

I'll post the letter I wrote.

Quote:
To Whom It May Concern,

I wished to express my interest in the position with your organization posted on Monster.com. But first, let me tell you about myself.

I am a highly decorated Lt. Commander in the United States Navy. I have specialized in submersible operation and exploration, along with deep sea reconnaissance. I have graduated from both the University of Arizona and the US Naval Academy with a BA in Biology and a Masters in Marine Biology. I brought the Navy to victory in Track and Fencing. I have also obtained my red sash in Wing Chun.

I consider myself an independent woman, working hard to achieve the goals I set for myself. The opportunity you offer is very intriguing, and I would be very interested to receive more information on the subject.

I look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Sincerely,

Samantha Arious

I might note, only half of the above is true.

Considering the letter praised me for creativity, e-mailing them saying "Oh, plz send me metroid, I r teh r0x0rs!!1!one!" probably won't do the trick.

And for those people who think we're lying, whatever. You want to be bitter, go ahead. I have a game, you don't. Get over it.

I'm still waiting for more puzzles.

I applied to the job from monster under the name "Justin Bailey." My resume explained my many victories as a bounty hunter in the past (how i win at Super Smash Brothers in Melee). But i still think it was the Justin Bailey thing that did it.

Off-topic, but i just have to ask: Did you really fence in the Navy Nuduo? That's awesome. Or is that part of the letter that wasn't true? I fenced against Naval Academy team at Nationals this year. They had some great epeeists.

Anyway, the blog has been updated more, and it seems that there's going to be a new blog that continues it. So the arg is continuing just like i said. The free games seemed to be somewhat separate.

Ooo, jealousy. I wish I lived in the States... I probably won't get sent a copy now. Nintendo sure know how to piss people off... but congrats to those who did get a copy, lucky buggers Wink.

I suspect that the more "real" you make your e-mail, the *less* likely it'll get a reply. I sent my e-mail in the persona of one of my RP characters, and that's what got an answer. When I sent a real resume, I got nothing.

No, I didn't fence for the Navy, but I fenced and ran track for the UofA. The Navy parts are made up, I figured that a militaristic background might be appealing for a "bounty hunter" type position. My major was going to be Biology, but I shifted it around so much. It ended up being an applied sciences degree in mechanical automation and robotics. Shocked Quite the switch.

Yes, and I've fenced some Navy folk also. Most are quite, quite good. I fence epee and sabre.

well, some people seem to think that the people who received discs were actually just getting demos. i know, there was like 3 people here who claimed to get the actual game, but getting demo discs seems more likely to me. i'm sure nintendo is sitting on a bunch of extras, and it gives people a cool disc to tide them over until the game comes out this week. that just seems more plausible than a couple select people who sent out an email getting a $50 game early with hardly any effort.

so i'm not sure, i'm not saying people who received discs are lying or are misleading us, but it is a possibility. people who have been following this ARG closely and have been a huge part of it would be getting discs in the mail and be posting here and showing some definite proof. all i've seen is a couple claims from some unfamiliar faces that say they got a retail game. it is not hard to show proof, and i have seen none. sorry. until i see it, enjoy playing your demos.

oh, the game comes out this week, as early as today. so its kinda hard to tell if people actually got it last week or just went out and bought it today if someone does decide to take a picture or something.

I'm tired of this. I'll bring a camera home from work today and take pictures.
