[Virtuquest] VirtuCube

After the SEN5241 game finished, I fired off an email to virtuquest to see if they'd be willing to do a post-game PM chat. A couple days later I got the following response.

Quote:
From: contactSPLATvirtuquest.com
Subject: Thank You

Dear Eric,
Thank you so much for your kind offer. As a co. often looks for such an
opportunity, it is very tempting.
While we certainly look forward to directly interacting with the ARG
comm.,there is something to be said about, . . . dare I say . . . secrecy and mystery (especially as it applies to the style, approach, history, and
plans of a co.). However, timing is everything, and possibly after Virtucube, things may fall in place for such an excursion.
Speaking of Virtucube, while we are very pleased with he warm reception
received by SEN5241, we are really looking forward to how you approach
Virtucube. For one lucky / persistent person, their trek off into our
world will be well worth it.
With that said, let us say "thank you" once again. Now please enjoy the
first clue to the Virtucube, which of course, is buried, deep . . .
within.
Best Wishes & Good Luck,
Your friends at VQC

I've spent about a week dissecting this email trying to find the clue, but I'm kinda hopeless when it comes to this stuff.

So, while I'm honored that VQ sent me the first VirtuCube clue, I'm hoping they won't be pissed that I'm posting it here for all of you to take a crack at. At this point I'm willing to give up any personal glory just to find out what the solution is. Smile

I'm assuming that the clue is not a big deal, as the game hasn't even started yet (or has it?), and since the email implies that VC will be something that 1 person can win, I doubt that they'd give me some great head start.

In fact, I'll go so far as the SPEC that the clue in the email will lead us to the first VC website, which will probably just say something like "Game starts Oct 31".

Something about the spacing, the extra slash, missing 't' in 'the', and abbreviations of 'community' and 'company' make the response look suspicious.

as does the use of the three sets of ellipses

Virtuquest

There is a link at their website that takes you to a floating cube that says Virtucube is coming.

It also says the launch is on Oct. 31 2004

Ok, I feel a little better. I figured this would get solved within 5 minutes of posting it on UF. Smile

Ummm, found something odd

I was bored so I decompiled the flash at the Virtucube site and found something quite strange.
There are 15 images that make up the cube, but 5 of the images are of roses (various colors)
I cant export the pics with my program so maybe somebody else can post them up here.

Let the game begin.

Why does this all seem familiar to me? I swear I've already seen those flower pics associated with virtuquest (like we had already discovered them previous). I did a search here and couldn't find any info. I even checked my own site to see if it was discussed in the virtuquest thread over there Embarassed . Nothing at CD either. Am I going crazy?

*nod* Yep, going quite insane. I only recognize the flowers because my mother was big into stuff like that. Too bad I don't know the names... or anything significant at all to do with them. I bet they smell pretty though.

Varin you're not going crazy! I've *definitely* seen those flowers before as well! In a spinning cube done in flash. I decompiled it too (bad, bad Fi!) and found the same images. This was months ago now though...
