Treasure Hunt for Weapons of Mass Destruction

http://reviewappeal.midsouthnews.com/news.ez?viewStory=16034

FIND WMD, WIN GOLD:
Nashville programmer creates treasure hunt

Computer programmer Shane Messer holds up the treasure trophy, a 14K gold medalllion that will be awarded to the winner of his computer treasure hunt game "Find Those Weapons: The Hunt for the Real WMD." (AP Photo)

Messer's Web site: http://www.findthoseweapons.com/

And I heard about this on another message board, where Shane Messer posted this:
Quote:

Hello... I was looking for a few good places to mention this new tresure hunt and this seemed like a good one.

Bascially we created a game with 3000 real WMD documents, a map, a matrix, and clue book and a person seraches through it to find the location of a $5000 "Weapons of Mass Destruction" trophy...

I am amazed at how few hunts there are in the US. Too bad this isn't a bigger thing...

Okay, I'm a sucker, but I just bought into this new game. I figured the worst that could happen is I lose $39.99 and I just might learn something. I'll let you know when I get my kit in the mail.

Has anyone solved this? Is there a winner ?

I was in a team of about 9 people trying to crack this but we ended up giving up after a while because we exhausted all that we thought of (which of course was the wrong spec)

As far as I know there's no solution. There's been some spec lately at http://www.collectivedetective.org that's interesting. A while back the creator of the contest mentioned that CD was on the right track but nothing came of it.

This is a good article from USA Today about the first WMD Hunt.
