 Transcript of post game chat.

<C_Brennan> Yeah, how many non US players did we have?
<RedKnight> I don't know
<RedKnight> I'm in AR so I'm ont one of them
<RedKnight> *not
<LeoBoomer> CA here
<C_Brennan> PA.
<Blacklotus> i think 2 or 3. MA here.
<sequoya> oh, me *raises hand*
<C_Brennan> Well, Sequoya is 1, but Seq came.
[Stormalong] Canada. HA!
<C_Brennan> Oh, Canada doesn't count.
<C_Brennan> Lol.
<LeoBoomer> hehehe
<C_Brennan> Eh, we can start.
<C_Brennan> If you guys want to.
<LeoBoomer> sure
<RedKnight> Might as well
[Stormalong] We can start slow...maybe more will show up.
<C_Brennan> Yeah.
<Blacklotus> true.
[Stormalong] Given the current attendance level I won't bother to try and moderate. Smile
<C_Brennan> So, the 7 of you can just ask me stuff. I don't think we need to go into PMs or anything.
<C_Brennan> Lol, yeah.
<C_Brennan> So who has what?
[Stormalong] That kinda ties in with one of my questions: Did you expect a bigger player base? How big did you expect?
<C_Brennan> I, honestly, didn't know how many to expect.
*** sequoya (~jehanels@3d716d1f.1c6ad229.pol.co.uk) has quit IRC [Ping timeout: 180 seconds]
<C_Brennan> So I made an estimation of 100 people, and if I got at least that, I'd be estatic. And, as we saw, we hit over 100.
<C_Brennan> And I was so happy I gave you a key.
<C_Brennan> And Seq times out, lol.
<Blacklotus> lol, thanks.
<LeoBoomer> how far into the game did you realize you had 2 separate boards playing and did it make things difficult to keep track of.
<C_Brennan> I realized you guys jumped in when I noticed it on the RG Alliance website, and I don't think it made anything any harder.
<C_Brennan> In fact, it gave me the idea for the time key puzzle.
* Stormalong times how long it take for seq to come back and start complaining about her connection...
<LeoBoomer> that was a cool twist
<C_Brennan> The "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" song split in half.
<C_Brennan> Which was, as you guys guess it, a small message to ARGN that I was going to carry this all the way through.
<LeoBoomer> I am sure we will see stuff like that from others
<C_Brennan> And it was nothing to "Warn players" about that it might fall apart, because I was not going to let it fall apart.

<C_Brennan> And she complains... now.
<Blacklotus> lol
<sequoya> bah, sorry lost connection
<RedKnight> *leans over to see storms watch
<LeoBoomer> lol
[Stormalong] About 3 minutes. Smile
<C_Brennan> So, yeah, the Misunderstood file was a double puzzle. Both meta and in-game, and planned as that.
<C_Brennan> I was just wondering how long it would take you guys to figure out there was half a key in each file.
<C_Brennan> Or the fact that the other people had the same song, only the second half.
<C_Brennan> nq?
<RedKnight> What was your favorite part of the game?
<C_Brennan> Beating Satanis down with a stick.
<C_Brennan> Lol. Kidding.
<C_Brennan> Um.... hmmm...
<C_Brennan> The Binary Grid y3o0 puzzle.
<C_Brennan> Unforums passed the post off as garbage at first.
<C_Brennan> Which made me laugh.
*** sequoya (~jehanels@3d716d1f.1c6ad229.pol.co.uk) has quit IRC [Ping timeout: 180 seconds]
<LeoBoomer> hahaha
<C_Brennan> So I prodded to prove that it was a puzzle to be solved.
<Blacklotus> kind of makes you feel bad for her...
<C_Brennan> Yeah.
[Stormalong] Well, it did look like line noise Smile
<C_Brennan> Lol, yeah it did, as it was suppose to.
<C_Brennan> That puzzle was the quickest puzzle I came up with, btw.
<C_Brennan> And probably the hardest.
<Blacklotus> do you have any favorite quotes of ours that you overheard?
<C_Brennan> Hmmm...

<C_Brennan> Calling yourselves Gatecrashers was one of my favorite.
<C_Brennan> *favorites
<C_Brennan> I didn't even think of that, and that's what made me love it so much.
[Stormalong] ya, Mac did good on that one.
<C_Brennan> Oh, and Mac milked that one to the fullest.
* C_Brennan digs around in Infocyclone's comment bin.
<C_Brennan> This one from Mac made me laugh:
[Stormalong] I remember it, I swear it was Mac's first time in this channel, he just pops in and says "hey gatecrashers"
<C_Brennan> "Your arrogance is your downfall. Soon, OPERATION: GATECRASHER will be complete, and Project: GATEWAY INTO NIGHTMARE will be terminated.
<C_Brennan> Run, if you want - but we tell you now: you will only die tired.
<C_Brennan> Signed Mac.
<C_Brennan> Hmmm... nq?
<C_Brennan> I'll keep adding quotes as we keep talking, I know I will.
<RedKnight> Would you recommend doing an entire ARG by yourself to someone who wants to be a PM?
<C_Brennan> If you have the time, hell yeah.
<C_Brennan> For one, you don't have to describe your ideas to anyone else and have the chance of someone else screwing it up.
<C_Brennan> Two, you can be as secretive as you want and not worry about someone else opening their mouth, unless you're stupid like me and leave your former writings online.
<RedKnight> Sorry about finding those
<C_Brennan> The downfalls to it are that you're all by yourself. And you have to do all the work.
<C_Brennan> Heh, not a problem. I should kick myself.
<C_Brennan> PMing an ARG by yourself is fun though. If you really have the time and want to put forth alot of effort, it's rewarding, just really hard.
<C_Brennan> But I felt like I made a personal connection between you all, even though you (for the most part) didn't know who I was until the end.
<C_Brennan> And if I had a team of PMs, I don't know if I would know you all as well as I do.
[Stormalong] Hands up those who knew who the PM was before it ended?
<sequoya> o/
<RedKnight> I think I knew
* LeoBoomer is still in awe
<Blacklotus> I did, but thats because Gen stumbled over those writings.
<RedKnight> same here, only I went on a wild goose chase to find them
<C_Brennan> Heh, groovy.
[Stormalong] I gotta remember to go read those now.
<C_Brennan> They add alot of background to the characters though, don't they?
<C_Brennan> Especially Jessica.
<RedKnight> Could you post a link to those, if they are still up?
<C_Brennan> http://www.fanfiction.net/s/657718/1/
<RedKnight> thanks
<C_Brennan> Some of that was written a long time ago, and some of my universe has changed.
<C_Brennan> PG is the up-to-date version of my vision.
<C_Brennan> So if you read something there that conflicts with PG, then assume PG is right.
[Stormalong] When did you get the idea to make it into an ARG?
<C_Brennan> The night before the Binary Grid was posted.
<C_Brennan> Because I always wanted to turn this into a video game of some sort.
<C_Brennan> But becuase I don't have a developing studio in my dorm, I never could.
<C_Brennan> But an ARG can be done by one person, and it can be done with everday tools.
<C_Brennan> And I knew the concepts presented in the overall story would work with an ARG. Conspiracy was present, a complex history was present.
<C_Brennan> Players could be thrown right in without knowing a single thing.
<C_Brennan> However, putting you into a superhero world did produce difficulties.
*** cal53679 (lurkerSPLAT1b5b45e4.2310808e.nj.comcast.net) has quit IRC [Quit: Leaving]
<C_Brennan> I realized that at first you couldn't talk to S32 directly. You could ask them to do things or tell them to do something, and they could without much effort.
<C_Brennan> Plus, if you talked to them directly, they could just reasonably fill you in to the whole story.
<Blacklotus> you made it past that problem really well.
<C_Brennan> So, I had to imprison them, and in that moment Project Gateway into Nightmares was born.
<C_Brennan> And I took one of my "characters-in-training", Stephen Roberts, and threw him in.
<C_Brennan> And to ice the cake, I didn't want you guys to initially know you were talking to superheroes.
<C_Brennan> So you had questions.
<C_Brennan> And the inital plot line was concieved in about 10 minutes.
<C_Brennan> But that was only because I knew the world so damn well, the characters so damn well, and had been perfecting this world for 6 years.
<sequoya> Does that also include then the idea of the keys?
<C_Brennan> Keys were initally not part of the concept, ironically.
<C_Brennan> The whole original plot line was to just throw one switch, or make it through one back door, and that would be it.
<C_Brennan> But then I thought about using keys to unlock the cells. It would give you something to look out for, and prove that you successfully followed a branch of the story.
<C_Brennan> It was sort of the symbol to say "Ok, you've completed another level of the game"
<C_Brennan> Plus, it looked cool to open up a file and find this weird ascii key drawn in.
<sequoya> I thought it worked really well.
<C_Brennan> Thank you, m'dear.
<C_Brennan> Nq?
[Stormalong] Listing the person who submitted the key was a nice touch. ARGs are traditionally a group effort, but letting a player leave an individual mark on the game is cool.
<C_Brennan> Yeah. I really liked that.
<C_Brennan> Section 32 was always about style.
<sequoya> Yes, I liked the way that the game gave individual recognition a lot.
<C_Brennan> I even put in the line "Style is Everything." Which is the catchphrase for the whole universe.
<C_Brennan> Plus, if you guys noticed, the characters act the same way the game recognized you.
<C_Brennan> You guys work as a team, but you were noticed individually and you had your individual qualities.
<C_Brennan> Section 32 acts as a team to accomplish goals, but each of them has their unique powerset that relates to a single element.
<sequoya> I hadn't thought of it like that. We all have our own superpowers, GateCrashers! Wink
<RedKnight> Yay
<C_Brennan> Uh huh.
<C_Brennan> To every group, there is a story behind every member.
[Stormalong] Mom always said I was special.
<C_Brennan> And there is a story to the group.
<C_Brennan> Both stories should be lifted up and honored.
<C_Brennan> Nq?
[Stormalong] Were there any puzzles we just completely failed to solve?
<C_Brennan> Musical Fish.
<sequoya> Ahhh..
<Blacklotus> oh yeah. what was that anyways, I ask as if you won't tell us?
<C_Brennan> I will ask you point blank. What is a musical fish?
<RedKnight> Refresh my memory, which one was that?
<C_Brennan> It was in the Falling Rocks flash.
<sequoya> The flash file.. with the rock falling
<RedKnight> a tuna fish?
<sequoya> a tuna!
<C_Brennan> Anyone know what a musical fish is?
<C_Brennan> Close.
<RedKnight> A fish with scales?
<C_Brennan> Bass.
<sequoya> >_<
<LeoBoomer> ohhhhhhh
<sequoya> our very own admin as well!
<sequoya> Smile
<C_Brennan> Uh huh.
<C_Brennan> That's why you should have kicked yourselves.
<C_Brennan> bass.htm
<C_Brennan> But, I deleted that file because no one found it.
<C_Brennan> You also found the falling rock flash later than I expected.
<C_Brennan> Because you were suppose to find it before Rockwell came in and took Emily away.
<C_Brennan> Hence "Watch out for falling rocks."
<C_Brennan> It was foreshadowing the chat you guys had.
<LeoBoomer> I like that we didnt know she was coming
<Blacklotus> ahh, it makes sense.
<Blacklotus> anything else we missed?
[Stormalong] What was up with the butterflies?
<C_Brennan> Ah, yes.
<C_Brennan> They were nothing but something to cover up the picture, initially.
<C_Brennan> And, to boot, the picture was suppose to be opened up with camouflage.
<C_Brennan> But, I didn't know that camo didn't work when you downloaded a picture from inside IE.
<C_Brennan> So, that's why I sent pictures to you guys via e-mail eventually.
<C_Brennan> Nq?
<C_Brennan> Oooh, need bathroom, brb.
<C_Brennan> Ask a question while I'm away and I'll come back and answer it.
<C_Brennan> Hah, I can go to the bathroom faster than you can ask questions.
<sequoya> Wow, that was fast o_O
<C_Brennan> The bathroom is right across the hall from my door, lol.
[Stormalong] We take it you are in university...what are you studying?
<C_Brennan> I'm a pre-pharmacy major.
<sequoya> Did you always intend to get the two communities working together, or was that something that evolved with time?
<C_Brennan> With a seat guaranteed for me in the Pharmacy School.
<C_Brennan> Um... intent on the 2 communities.
<C_Brennan> Initially, I liked how you guys were going against one another, but then I realized in the grand scheme of things it was stupid.
<C_Brennan> So then I had that key broken up and sent to both of you, to force you to work together.
<C_Brennan> Because I think the separation between UF and IU is kinda unnecessary, but that's this man's opinon, and I do understand why you are both separated now.
* LeoBoomer couldnt have made it through by himself
<C_Brennan> Due to the beliefs of each community and how an ARG can be/should be played.
[Stormalong] I assume you played 1 or more ARGs before PG?
<C_Brennan> ilovebees
<C_Brennan> As I had stated in my own game that I played ILB, lol.
[Stormalong] Thats it? Wow.
<C_Brennan> Yeah, I've only played ILB before this.
<C_Brennan> But I did research into the games of the past.
<C_Brennan> And I tried to remember what I did hear about Majestic.
<C_Brennan> If anything, Majestic was my "introduction" to the genre, because I read the back of the box all the time.
<C_Brennan> And I wanted to buy it bad, but I never had the cash.
<C_Brennan> Nq?
<RedKnight> You mentioned your budget came to $32, what did you spend money on?
<C_Brennan> Hosting.
<C_Brennan> Freewebs is actually an upgraded account, so I had more bandwidth.
<C_Brennan> And thank god, because I had about 500 mb left by the end of the first month on 32nd Notes.
<C_Brennan> And I started with alot of gigs.
[Stormalong] mp3 downloads will do that to ya. Smile
<C_Brennan> Infocyclone, as you guessed, is also what I paid for. That's hosted by Fortune City.
<C_Brennan> Lol, yeah, they sure do.
<C_Brennan> So, the money was basically all spent on web hosting for the in-game sites.
<C_Brennan> Nq?
<Blacklotus> for $32 you put on a good show. have you concidered an encore?
<RedKnight> I think that's the most fun I've had for someone elses $32. Smile
<C_Brennan> Section 32: Special Forces Unit - Line of Destruction is being written as we speak.
<sequoya> Ooo Smile
<C_Brennan> It will be a walking sequel to "Section 32: Special Forces Unit - Project Gateway into Nightmares"
[Stormalong] Apparently being a PM is addictive. Smile
<C_Brennan> But I believe LoD won't be making the scene for at least a year and a half.
<C_Brennan> Plus, next time, I actually want a team of PMs, because some of the ideas I have need more than 1 person.
<sequoya> Do you intend to do that one on your own too, or have you recruited 'minions'?
<sequoya> heh
<C_Brennan> I'm going to get minions once I can get the initial storyline down.
<C_Brennan> And I want an actual budget, because I was to do more websites with flash animation.
<C_Brennan> *I want
<LeoBoomer> will there be more fake 404 pages?
* LeoBoomer mumbles
<C_Brennan> Maybe.
<LeoBoomer> lol
* C_Brennan raises his eyebrows.
<RedKnight> Ooh those things were evil
<C_Brennan> I know.
[Stormalong] Did you do anything to specifically try to slow us down?
<C_Brennan> I crashed Project Gateway to slow you down.
<LeoBoomer> hah
<C_Brennan> ---System Halted---
<C_Brennan> And that was the point where ARGN thought I was no longer good enough for their little "in-play" board.
<C_Brennan> But, certainly, I made it quite clear to Leo that it was going to come back, and with a bang.
<C_Brennan> I really loved the Henry Shaw introduction.
<sequoya> Yes, how did you think of that?
<sequoya> You had me going on the whole interview thing for AGES Smile
<C_Brennan> PG was actually turned off so I could introduce Henry Shaw.
<C_Brennan> Because a couple days before, I got FrontPage from the university, and whipped up InfoCyclone.
<C_Brennan> Before that, PG was done on Dreamweaver.
<Blacklotus> lol, yeah thats the first thing a few of us noticed was frontpage.
<C_Brennan> So, I needed a way for our little reporter conspiracy addict to enter.
[Stormalong] The search function on infocyclone was brilliant.
<C_Brennan> And I cooked up the interview scheme and sent out a thing to ARGN to see if they could get a few of you together so I could interview you.
<C_Brennan> And they never replied...
<C_Brennan> So I ran over and pointed a gun at Nash's head and told him he was hosting an interview.
<C_Brennan> For a friend of mine.
<sequoya> Heh
<C_Brennan> So, he was semi-oblivious.
<C_Brennan> So the interview scheme was originally handed to ARGN, but ended up being given to IU.
<C_Brennan> Which was more appropriate anyway.
<C_Brennan> So, pretty much I thought of it while walking to class one day. Heh.
<C_Brennan> And then I just ran with it.
<C_Brennan> We're you guys really confused with that?
<C_Brennan> Because that was the point.
<sequoya> We did have a while where we were going 'is it or isn't it in-game?'
<C_Brennan> Good.
<LeoBoomer> and was not sure about trusting Henry
<C_Brennan> I was waiting for someone to find that the Project Gateway e-mail addy was showing up on the WHOIS.
<C_Brennan> And Nash told me that Leo found it.
<C_Brennan> And I was happy.
<LeoBoomer> well
<sequoya> heh Wink
<LeoBoomer> I had some help
<C_Brennan> Heh.
<C_Brennan> Yeah, that trusting Henry thing went on for a while.
<C_Brennan> Speaking of Henry, were you guys comfortable with the way you were being recognized in the story?
<C_Brennan> Because I got the feeling alot of you didn't like how the enemies understood you were just ARG players.

<LeoBoomer> I had no problems with it
<C_Brennan> An hour and 14 minutes late, Browsin.
<Browsin> Sorry, seminar that i couldnt get out of
<C_Brennan> Lol.
<C_Brennan> Kidding.
<Browsin> pus you're still here...
<Browsin> plus
<sequoya> I liked that they knew we were players.. I just didn't like the way some of our players reacted to it.
<C_Brennan> Yeah, that got kinda violent in the middle.
[Stormalong] Its a touchy subject.
<C_Brennan> Well, for future reference, I'm not the man who spoils a story midway through.
<C_Brennan> And I wouldn't have truly killed you for posting stuff on Unforums.
<C_Brennan> Because all of my games like to include what I call the "Moment of Salvation".
<C_Brennan> You guys know where your moment was?
<sequoya> I guess it was just the fact that people started feeling uneasy about posting properly, and some info got lost.
<sequoya> Do tell Smile
<C_Brennan> Oh, I think it's apparent when the moment occured.
<C_Brennan> Because it was the most hectic time of the game.
[Stormalong] Most obvious point would be during endgame.
<C_Brennan> Right, the Apocalypse Code.
<C_Brennan> If you blew everything, if you posted Rockwell's exact coordinates on Unforums, if you had everyone captured, it wouldn't matter.
<C_Brennan> Everything would have come down to the Apocalypse Code.
[Stormalong] Did that get screwed up? Were we supposed to find the stuck together keys ourselves?
<C_Brennan> Yeah.
<C_Brennan> What happened there, if I may ask?
<C_Brennan> I thought the file sent correctly.
<Browsin> I had some binary stuff at the end of mine...
<sequoya> Who was the file sent to? I didn't get it Sad
<C_Brennan> Geez, I had it sent to the entire list.
[Stormalong] Me neither.
<C_Brennan> Hmmm. Interesante.
<C_Brennan> Yeah, I had the key sent out to the entire mailing list.
<C_Brennan> Browsin, you still have your key?
[Stormalong] Mac said he got something, but all he posted was the darkness key.
<Browsin> yep, i think.
<LeoBoomer> I never got it
<C_Brennan> Try to uncamouflage it with the password "light"
<C_Brennan> You should get the backdoor key.
<C_Brennan> Geez, well, sorry guys. Glad I had Merc turn over the key.
<C_Brennan> I was thinking something got screwed up.
<Browsin> SOB it works
<C_Brennan> Yep.
* Browsin bangs head
<C_Brennan> "Light in the darkness shall save."
<Browsin> should have realized there was more than just the text key there, as my browser displayed so much garbage
<C_Brennan> Heh.
<C_Brennan> Nq?
[Stormalong] Did you script the chats before they happened?
[Stormalong] The chats were my favorite bit, BTW.
<C_Brennan> That's where my classes in improvisation came in handy.
<sequoya> Mine too Smile
<C_Brennan> The hardest chat was being Strike when he was still behind the firewalls and was speaking in keyboard shift.
<C_Brennan> Typing the keyboard shift was INSANE.
<Browsin> 43qoo6?
<sequoya> heheh
<C_Brennan> h75 8 t05 7w3 50 85
<C_Brennan> Translation: But I got use to it.
<C_Brennan> Yes, really.
<sequoya> ndndn
<Browsin> I realized that, just as i tried to be a smart ass...
<C_Brennan> But, otherwise, nah, they were all improv.
<C_Brennan> I just set myself a goal in what I wanted you to learn in a chat, and I went off.
<C_Brennan> Nq?
<sequoya> Was Emily in the #32ndnotes chat a lot at the start of the game? Most of the time it felt like I was the only one that went in there! Sad
<C_Brennan> Nah. If she went in, you were there.
<C_Brennan> Which was nice.
<C_Brennan> I had someone to rely on, lol.
<sequoya> Heh, woo Smile
<C_Brennan> Nq?
<RedKnight> How did you decide who to include in the rendezvous program?
<C_Brennan> My roomie blindfolded me, laid the user listing out, spun me around, and I pointed.
<C_Brennan> If I knew that person to be active, I put them in the list.
[Stormalong] Does your roomie think you are crazy?
<C_Brennan> Yes.
<Browsin> NQ - What was the "secret part of those chats? (sorry if thats been asked and answered)
<sequoya> Haha Smile
<C_Brennan> Secret part?
<C_Brennan> Elaborate more please, not understanding.
<sequoya> Ah yes - what was that all about?
<Browsin> Wasnt there sections that people were told " not to post"
<C_Brennan> Oh, the question?
<sequoya> We were each asked a question and asked to keep it from the group.
<C_Brennan> That was going to be a large puzzle... but I never got around to it.
<C_Brennan> I was going to have your answers down, and you had to find yours and there would have been a number, and it would have corresponded to a letter in your name.
<C_Brennan> So if PG recognized you as estern (sorry Storm) and I needed the letter T, then you answer would have the number 3 next to it.
<C_Brennan> Sorta like the List of Involvement - Theme Song puzzle.
<C_Brennan> Nq?
[Stormalong] That would have been a good one.
<C_Brennan> Yeah, I should have gotten around to it.
<C_Brennan> Plus, if you noticed, most of your personal questions were derived from the Tao Te Ching.
<C_Brennan> Which, as we know, became involved later on.
<C_Brennan> Damn, that first page had me estatic.
<C_Brennan> I had to read it for a class, and I read the first page of it and said "THIS IS GOING INTO PG!"
[Stormalong] I was oblivious to that. Props to HitsHerMark for connecting the Tao thing.
<C_Brennan> "Darkness within darkness. The gateway to all understanding." It hit everything I wanted to say.
<C_Brennan> So I had to tie it in with Apocalypse.
<C_Brennan> And through that, the Rend. program was concieved.
<C_Brennan> Nq?
[Stormalong] Any plans to take C32 into other media or publishing?
<C_Brennan> If I could get off of my butt and get a novel written up, I'd be running all over creation.
<C_Brennan> But it's just everytime I sit down to write it all out, I never get there.
<C_Brennan> If I could get this to be a real video game, like an XBox type Action/RPG, I'd be really happy.
<C_Brennan> And I could assure you an ARG tied into the release of any S32 item that would be made, trust me. Lol.
[Stormalong] Wow, an ARG tied into an Xbox game. That would be AWESOME.
[Stormalong] Wink
<sequoya> hahaha
<Blacklotus> lol
<C_Brennan> Yeah. Who would have thunk it?
<RedKnight> ARG Project Buy the lunchbox?
<RedKnight> Wink
<C_Brennan> I say Xbox because I like the voice chat.
<C_Brennan> You have to admit, the voice chat is the bomb.
<Blacklotus> true, but PS2 has it too, just not as good.
<RedKnight> You can do that on computer too.
<RedKnight> Half-life mods make great use of that
<C_Brennan> True.
[Stormalong] ya, pfft. Counter-strike had it ages ago. Smile
<C_Brennan> If an S32 game ever released, I can promise this:
<C_Brennan> 1. Lots of explosions.
<Browsin> you e-mail this list....
<C_Brennan> 2. Cool effects on magic, energy charging, attacks, etc.
<C_Brennan> 3. Online capabities so you can play with your friends.
<C_Brennan> 4. Make your own elemental armor/character.
<C_Brennan> 5. Kick Rowen's rear from here to kingdom come mini-game.
<C_Brennan> And that would be it.
<C_Brennan> Plus alot of other stuff that I really can't describe too well in a chat.
<C_Brennan> Nq?
[Stormalong] Doom3 mod...heh.
<RedKnight> HL2 mod?
<RedKnight> It could be done
<sequoya> What was the most frustrating moment of the game for you? Were you sitting shouting at us through the screen at any point?
<C_Brennan> If I knew how to mod things, oh would I ever.
<C_Brennan> Um... frusteration...
<C_Brennan> The Apocalypse code was intense for me.
<C_Brennan> I would have liked to have my characters live.
<C_Brennan> So I was going, "IT'S IN THE DARKNESS KEY!!! THE DARKNESS KEY!!!!"
<C_Brennan> Because if you didn't get it, they were going to die.
<C_Brennan> And Line of Destruction would be history.
[Stormalong] I'd wondered...
<sequoya> So you really had two endings set up?
<C_Brennan> Yep.
<C_Brennan> It was possible for you guys to lose.
<C_Brennan> But I was happy you guys didn't, because now I can continue to write up Line of Destruction!
<C_Brennan> Yay!
[Stormalong] Smile
<sequoya> Wow. Smile
<C_Brennan> Nq?
<C_Brennan> Ooooh, silence.
<RedKnight> I think I've asked all my questoins
<Blacklotus> uhhh... the only question I can think of is "are you any good at tiddlywinks?" ;D
<sequoya> Heeehee Smile
<C_Brennan> No.
<C_Brennan> Oh, I got a question.
<C_Brennan> Anyone going to the ILB event in NY?
<RedKnight> Nope, not even playing that.
<sequoya> If I could, I would Wink
<C_Brennan> Well, if anyone is going to any ILB event, I'll kick you rears in HALO.
<C_Brennan> MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
[Stormalong] I'm boycotting ILB because there are no axons in canada. Smile
<Blacklotus> nah, I might attempt to pick up a DVD in boston, but I doubt it.
<C_Brennan> Lol.
<C_Brennan> Ok then.
<sequoya> I guess we should all now just say thank you for a really cool game Smile
<C_Brennan> Thank you for sticking with it and playing it out.
[Stormalong] Indeed. It was the most unique ARG i've played.
<RedKnight> Yes, thanks for the awesome job you did putting this together
<C_Brennan> "Section 32: Special Forces Unit - Line of Destruction" will probably come late 2005. Expect me to really screw with the rules you know and love.
<sequoya> I posted some of my memories to the Order group Smile
<RedKnight> You've given me a new reason to figure out how to mod HL
<C_Brennan> If you mode it Red, you call me immediately.
<C_Brennan> *mod
<Browsin> Great job, i had a thoroughly enjoyable time
<C_Brennan> Thank you very much.
[Stormalong] Strongest memory: Getting myself banned for forging keys. Smile
<RedKnight> I'll call you before I mod it so that I can get all the characters right.
<C_Brennan> My strongest memory: Getting myself banned for posting in-character.
<C_Brennan> Lol.
[Stormalong] lol
<C_Brennan> You'll all be notified if LoD ever becomes a reality.
<C_Brennan> Lol.
<sequoya> Great. Thanks again, I'm really glad to have been a part of this.
<C_Brennan> All right then, take care everyone, and Red, you better call.
<Blacklotus> take care.
<RedKnight> OK
* C_Brennan points at RedKnight wiht vicious intent.
[Stormalong] Later!
<C_Brennan> Later!
<sequoya> G'nite
<RedKnight> night
<Blacklotus> night.
*** C_Brennan (~CC32@35474391.2803ef39.resnet.pitt.edu) has quit IRC [Quit: AHHHH! My cookies are burning!!!!!]
[Stormalong] SPEC: LoD will start tomorrow. He was trying to throw us off.
[Stormalong] Smile

If Line of Destruction starts tomorrow, I will have a fit. Literally.

Sorry I missed the chat, I was looking forward to it, but I had to go to the bar* with my friends.

First, I'd like thank Colin for all of his hard work. This was a really enjoyable experience for me and I really miss playing PG every night. This was my first "real" ARG, the only other I've played being Majestic and I must say it was fantasic!

Now I'd like to complain about the Apocalype puzzle. I experienced roughly the same gamut of emotions while decoding that puzzle as little Ralphie from A Christmas Story did while decoding Little Orphine Annie's secret message. I quickly went from "Woohoo! I'm going to save the day" to "$#@#$ I don't want to drink my #@#$ing ovaltine!" You have to admit that the message was rather useless at that stage in the game. As a symbol of my grudge over this matter, I am only going to refer to Colin as Annie from now on.

Now, I have a couple of questions that didn't get answered in the chat:

1) Did the CyberStrike imposter force you to resume the game earlier than you had wanted? If so, when were you planning on resuming the game?

2) Did you expect us to call Henry Shaw? What'd you think of that?

3) What's up with the outstanding issues on the Order of the Judges page as enumerated on the wiki

4) Were we supposed to solve smoke & mirrors through image inhancing software, or was there another solution?

If you need any minions for the next installment I'd be happy to volunteer.

*(As a shameless plug, the bar is Finnigan's Wake next to PNC Park in downtown Pittsburgh. My friend plays in an Irish band there every other Wednesday. )

A. Nope, it all went according to plan. The game was going to restart after the Henry Shaw interview, which was thankfully arranged by Nash Carey.

A. I put my cell phone down, wondering if anyone was going to call. I was caught off guard with how quick someone got the guts to call, but I'm still thankful for my improv classes that I took during High School.

A. The tablet had words hidden in it, can't remember what they were... The text was an anagram for something like "The government is watching you." which was more flavor text than anything else. Music makes the world work was a puzzle that never worked out, and pretty much the rest of the stuff were puzzles that never worked out. So, red herrings.

A. Nope, you solved it the right way. It was harder than I anticipated though, sorry about that. But good job on getting that.

You know, if you really really want to, you can come over and visit me. I'm at the University. It's not that far. Plus, seeing you live next to me, you may possibly be called for the next installation. Maybe.

Crying or Very sad Hmph! Well I'm never mentioning *that* again!

Oh, I have a small question actually:

In one of the logs we found during the game, Kryer refers to Rowen as Daniel. This led Leo and I to spec that he was Daniel Shaw, but it doesn't seem that that is true from the endgame.. why did he say 'Daniel'?

Thanks for taking time to answer my questions.

I'd like to say that I really enjoyed the pacing of the game. The moment of doubt with the extended break, the rapid-fire key finding of the late game, the final countdown, followed by the 10 minute frenzy of the omega key. It was awesome!

It was just an alias. Sorry that Daniel, aka, Rowen's alias, and the name "Daniel Shaw" overlap.
