No, Sarah, there isn't. You could always ask Nash or one of the RWG guys what the deal is.

AWARE is in production and an OFFICIAL launch date will NOT be announced. When we get closer to launch, a major advertising campaign will be seen by many. The teaser episode is a little ways away. The teaser episode will only last a couple of weeks but will give you a small idea of what to expect with A2. The teaser episode will NOT be related to the general storyline of A2 it will be just a little exercise and community builder. We are going to let the Meta Site behave as a player registration point and Immersion killer if some of the players feel things are getting out of hand. We will offer daily live tech support for players who might feel a tad burdened by the level of interaction they have set up for themselves. The tech support will also act as a helper for a few down-loadable programs we have in development. The programs will in a sense be spy-ware like. They will be able to tell us when certain players are at our sites, and when they are logged in. This will allow for certain surprises to occur. Things such as IM's when you hit "sensitive sites" or emails that occur when you solve puzzles and such. The partners I have come across are VERY interested in making this game run by itself when the PM's are sleeping. This does not mean all the interactions will be automated. In fact, just the opposite. It just means that updates and some interactions will occur automatically (to give realtime effect).
There are a couple things dealing the launch of this game.
1. WildFire Industries is "in-play" and we don't really want to compete with ourselves.
2. A few sponsors are asking for us to wait (they really help pay the bills). Some of the sponsors are associated with the travel industry and they want to wait until spring. (Yes, this means some of you may get airline tickets.)
3. Many of the "special effects" are like brain surgery to our limited minds. We really are trying to make this game set a new standard in some ways.
4. CONTENT RICH-- One of the MAJOR problems with AWARE was that the sites were not FULL enough. When people went to some "in-game" sites they gave info about the AWARE related content well enough, but it did not feel authentic to me or the players in someways. We are trying to make a COMPLETE world, not just a game.
5. VIDEO AND AUDIO-- Damn, this is taking HUGE amounts of time. If we are going to give you footage from a surveillance video it better look like it. Complete with the clocks at the bottom of the screen and horrible audio.
6. TIME-I am a soldier in the US ARMY and work a full-time job, not to mention have a family. When I created AWARE 1 I was in Iraq. When it launched I had just got home. I had not seen my wife in ages and had a new baby born (my first) when I was there. I couldn't give them the time they deserved. I owed them better. I failed them. I felt like I owed the ARGers a game too. I came through. Though I am not in the same role for A2 as I was the first, I still take ALOT of time to make things work and video filming for one of the characters. And they won't let me do it on just one take this time. So filming something 30 seconds long can take 2 hours sometimes. And the coordination of things BTS is exhausting. I thought I handed it over to people who would run more with it. I was wrong, they are bringing me along the entire way.
7. REDEMPTION--Many have had some things to say about AWARE 1. Some rightly so, some just out of spite. I want this game to be something which more people enjoy. The newbies and the old veterans alike. I know for some I already disappointed with the Meta Site, but I just feel it is more newbie friendly and easier for them to get involved. And we had some tech issues in the last one we want to work out. Not to mention play testing.
8. Small experimentation -- I am pondering some thoughts... I am thinking is it possible to have multiple show-times? This means that we launch the game three times. Each with different puzzles. But same basic content. So people who felt like the want to play from the start can do so, even if they want to finish another game first. This would require some help from the communities posting on the games. There are MANY ideas like this, but I am not sure how many we will adopt (including the aforementioned). This is going to be determined on what the advertisers and fellow BTS people think.
For now, I just encourage ALL to register and have fun. I don't think anyone knows when the teaser will launch and I prefer it that way(might even be next week). Heck, some may not even know it is a 'game' until the teaser ended.
I am working as a middle man right now for the main people involved. If you feel you can help out on some of the things and want to be BTS on a major ARG then email me admin[at]realworldgaming.com. Please understand we are looking for extraordinary technical help and people who just have ass-loads of time. Some of the people working BTS are getting COOP Work Study from their college. They are willing to sign off for internship hours.
Until then: Revelations 3:3

The program is NOT normal spyware. It will only tell us when and where you are on the "in-game" sites. The program will be available for download (not involuntarily) through an "in-game site. We are trying to make the program available for all op systems. The auto updating is to give a TRUE cause and effect feel even when we aren't there to do it ourselves, and thus the need for the software.[/b]

This sounds really awesome, I am going to be coming from one great game (Wildfire) to another. Plus it won't interfere with college

I can't wait. I'm new to ARGs (and this forum so hi!) but I read up on AWARE and couldn't resist signing up. Hope it's not too long of a wait.

Sounds cool! I always wondered if they could see it when you visited a site of an ARG, with this one I know it for sure
by the way I looked up Revelations 3:3 just for fun

it says :
Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

[ARG?] KRPYradio Everything has been explained... I've never even played the game and yet I get an e-mail about it. Someone needs to update their mailing list.

This is the radio site used in the AW2RE teaser. You can get all the info on this at
http://tinyurl.com/9wkj4
EDIT:
This post was a response to someone who posted that the KRPY radio site at http://www.krpyradio.com had changed and was asking for DJs.
Looks like that thread was deleted, and my post was moved over to this thread, but their post asking about the radio site wasn't moved over... Odd.

It won't be starting up until the fall. This was only a pre-game.

Does anybody know what happened to the Aware II sites? Seems none of them - wehavenofear, amboymonthly.com - are accessible (ruaware.org is, though). Nor is realworldgaming.com, and the e-mail I sent them bounced. Just when I wanted to follow the teaser before considering whether to sign up or not . Is it still possible/worthwhile to sign up?

Apparently, some of Real World Gaming's sites went down, along with their own site sometime this summer. Server crash or something. Anyway, I just spoke to Nash Carey, and apparently they're switching to a new server SOON and will have the other sites up and running in the near future. In any case, the in-game sites will certainly be up before the real game starts, and that's launching sometime this fall.
So yeah, it's not too late to sign up. I'm just glad the server problems happen now and not during the game.
