So, remember I mentioned the bg8+6.jpg thing? Well, I was playing with it, and observe...
Omnie, I have found six versions of this image:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
8+6.jpg, 8-6.jpg, 8x6.jpg, 8_6.jpg, and 8.6.jpg
and it looks like all of the gaps are filled.

Oh, neat. Clicky for new overlapping pic.
Seems there's a gap between the e-u?
What I'm seeing:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
oicsveloneve_ummowwow
Several of those earlier letters look more like a smudge than a letter...so the "i" and the "c" especially are really just rough guesses. Also, the "n" kinda hovers between "b" and "h." And why is the first "e" capitalized and backwards?
Ummowwow is reminiscent of the MU credits address (mumowmow, not that I remember where it came from).

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It looks like a forward lower case "e" to me, the part that I can sorta make out looks like svsioneve ....which is this part of what you see oicsveloneve _ummowwow. I think you're right about the ending, something a non-MU (me ; ) would never have gotten.

Two thoughts, not much help but...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1) Isn't there a 'l' after the space and before the ummowwow?
2) Everytime I look at the first arrangement I see vpisteve. Anyone else?
C'mon someone, solve this!

As do I. As do I--but I flip-flop between that and "oh, I see."

Any reason why we're not showing our cards to one another? I have a zoomed in view of the composite picture -- I'll put what I see in spoilers just to be polite.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
D i ? s v s i o n e v e _ u m m o w w o w
The ? is too small and blurry for me to see a 'c'. The leading char is more oval than the other 'o' on the board, which is why i'm calling it a capital 'D'.
(oh, and now I realize that uploading an attachment is not possible at this time. Temporarily stored here )
(oh, and the streak between the gap and the 'u' is on all of the views, so it is not an added letter.)

I wish I had better net access right now, as I cannot upload this image to my website. Basically, I loaded each of the five images into Photoshop as separate layers (with a sixth transparent background layer), then changed each layer's mode from "Normal" to "Difference," which basically subtracts the colors values from one layer to the next. What I ended up with seems a bit more sharp than the above linked image, and I am seeing slightly different letters:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
a y a' l o h (a or s) v e (space) u m m o w w o w
If that (a or s) is an "a," then you get either "have" or "aloha" there.

To recap:
1) Quote by Vincent Van Gogh, missing the word 'line'.
2) Latin quote roughly translated as "Is truth when we consider thoroughly".
3) Symbols round the outside of the picture, in an unknown font.
4) A wood effigy of a man a la Blairwitch (is that a wicker man?).
5) A grate next to a kerb, some snow & with a yellow 'no entry' (IMHO) symbol on.
Okay. That helps not much.
Maybe I can not help too. The stick figure is not the Blair Witch stick figure. The Blair Witch figure looks like this:
It sure looks familiar, though. Haven't placed it yet.

The stick figure looks something like the Japanese character for "great".
great on grate?
edit: Here's an annoying aboutdotcom site that shows the symbol.

I am home now, and here it is --layer diffs of the relevant section expanded to 200% of its original size.

Whoo!
If nothing else, I have now learned that the "difference" option is totally awesome.
[edit] Here's what I got playing around with "difference" in Paint Shop Pro: clicky . [/edit]

I am completely and utterly gobsmacked. Wishi, Giskard, yanka, xnbomb. All other cohorts and writers of the book: thank you.
This has been one of the most beautiful, touching things I have ever experienced. From the first bits to the labyrinth to the last IRC chat for the Paintover kids ...
Thank you.
What a gift.
