You guys are all just so gosh darn awesome that you make my eyeballs vibrate at an excessive rate of speed. And, OMG, whoever wrote that last scrolling chat TOTALLY nailed Caesar's speech patterns, including idiosyncrasies that I didn't even realize he HAD when I was co-voicing him with K.

Xnbomb, Yanka, Giskard, Wishi.....y'allz RAWK. Very Happy

P.S. Just in case metaurchins ever goes offline or anything, I will mirror the book here.

Hmm,

"error 404: File not found
The document you requested is not found."

An interesting read, a bit on the short side though. I believe I've read this
before actually Razz

Well, the book is here; and hopefully it will be there forever Smile But if, some day, it is not, then I'll put it up on my site... for now it'll just point to MetaUrchins... well... when I fix the broken link, that is.

I'm sure you totally needed that explanation, too (sorry Embarassed )

Hey, if you guys keep making such great ARG's and trails I'll never be able to leave! But I just wasn't interested in chasing payphones on the other side of the world so I was just lurking for a while Smile

/me needs to lurk less and participate more...

/me would do so if he actually had more time on his hands. Confused

In any case, excellent work, guys. This trail brought back such memories.

STOL! Very Happy

Making amends (by borrowing from the Bard)

If we puzzlemakers have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended:
That you have but play'd here,
While the Betamaze did appear,
And that the puzzle in black and white,
Was intended to amuse and not to fright.
Players, do not reprehend:
If you pardon, we will mend.

Once you guys had solved the Betamaze, we were thinking of changing it to:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
kudos al
so go to
gwing-0
2, ehsan
, colin,
caterpi
llar, an
d omnie.

Alternatively, we were considering simply adding that to the page below the puzzle Betamaze. You guys did a spectacular job on our Betamaze, and as was the case with chancesend and yeahyeah the first time around, I am in awe of your solve. I apologize unreservedly for any undue eyestrain and mental anguish that were involved Wink .

I have a question! The 404 page kept saying "Have you seen it?" with a missing JPG.. what was that all about? Or did I miss something..

Well, we tried covering as much parts of MU with our trail as possible, and one of the parts we had not covered in our puzzles was the sheismissing/heismissing pages. They had .jpegs that were named "haveyouseenher"/"haveyouseenhim" and we thought it would be fitting for a 404 page to name it "itismissing" and having a (missing!) jpeg named "haveyouseenit" Smile

Maybe the link would have been a little clearer if there would have been a pic there though...

Haha, thanks. The Betamaze was fun, I was just kidding. Razz
I can't imagine how hard it musta been to piece it together along with the rotations though.

The whole time I was doing it I was hoping I wasn't doing anything wrong because I kept getting a LOT of f's, i's, h's, and r's.
The multiple versions of the "b" and the endstop threw me for a loop too.

So, I'm just reading through the walkthrough now (waaay late, but I plead exams), and wanted to comment:
Quote:
No one noticed (or at least no one mentioned they noticed) that the text from the e-mail is in fact an exact copy of a scene from The Matrix, namely the scene where Agent Smith interrogates Neo/Thomas Anderson after his arrest. We had quite a few laughs about this e-mail before we sent it, and we had some discussion on whether or not people would pick up on it, and it turns out that no one did

Heh, I actually sort of assumed that everyone caught that, and didn't even think of explicitly pointing it out. But then I'm a Matrix geek, so my view may be all skewed. But, yeah, it was cute. Very Happy People did catch that, right?

No no, I got it. I didn't mention it as I just figured it was pretty obvious. Smile

Which in turn made us very afraid that we did the wrong thing and gone and scared the hell out of you... you shouldn't be playing tricks with us like that! Razz

That's the one thing that surprised me most about doing a thing like this... you start to doubt every little thing you do, every move you make, and you are constantly looking for confirmation that it was recieved in the right way... you should look at the logs of our IRC channel, it induced quite some neurotic or paranoid little fits during the time UM ran Wink

To give one example: on october 1, after sending out the Urchin e-mails, somehow we thought they would appear on uF the very instant they were discovered. Then we saw Spacely quit from IRC that night and he had "Borsch-poo or nothingness" as his quit-line, which was a direct quote from the Random e-mail we sent him.. what did that mean?! Was it a coincidence, did he really see the e-mail, was he making fun of it, etc... we came very close to a nervous breakdown at times Wink
