[Halo 2] Bonus feature on the Halo2 Limited Edition DVD If you got the (ooo, shiny) Limited Edition copy of Halo 2 and have completed the single player campaign, you want to check out a nifty little bonus included in the second DVD. I learned of it here .
Go into the DVD's main menu and select Set Up. Then choose to do the audio test. It's a surround sound test alright; but it's done by animated characters from the game. (a Grunt and a Hunter) It's laugh-out-loud funny, too.
-- Steve is desperately trying not to describe it in too much detail, but he loved it a LOT.

I think he just put in the warning about finishing the single player campaign because there's a lot of content on the DVD that spoils the plot for those who haven't. S'all.

Yeah, I should have clarified that in the first post. The only reason I suggest not playing the DVD first is that it has LOADS of spoiler material; so much so that the DVD itself cautions you to finish the game first if you want to play unspoiled.
-- Steve used to pride himself on his clarity. *sigh*

I haven't watched the DVD yet; I'm still getting over...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
my disappointment at being cheated of an ending...either this is just bad storytelling, or (if they're going to make you download the rest on Live) a betrayal of their fans' trust...
...so I haven't felt much like watching a self-congratulatory "Making Of..." documentary.
Is there anything on the DVD that gives any clue as to why they didn't finish the story?

Quite a bit, actually.. you'll also find out why
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the level shown at E3 kinda got... erased.

There is a rumour circulating that originally the story took very different directions. If you look back at E3 and the first glimpses of the game, it was made very clear that the Covenant were coming to Earth and you were the one thing standing in their way. Why then does
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
everything finish as that climactic battle is about to begin?
The documentary shows that after E3 there was little to no defined direction of the game. Maybe the E3 demos were thrown together to show an exciting story that didn't exist, which doesn't quite tie in exactly to the eventual plot?
Bungie have confirmed through various sources that Halo 3 is (and has been) in development. Bungie have confirmed that they are not making any more titles for the Xbox. Xbox Next [Xbox2] comes out in 2005.

This statement (which I have not heard before):

conflicts with this statement (which I *have* heard before, and is the source of my ire):
kiro wrote:

unless, with the addition of this statement:

you are implying that their statement means that they will not be making more games for the XBox, but they will be making more games for the Xbox2. In which case, oh...sneaky, sneaky Bungie.
I had become very upset because I had heard that it had been said straight from the horse's mouth that Bungie would not be making Halo 3. Do we have confirmation on that -- i.e. that they said "no Halo 3" and not "no further games for the XBox?"
Because if it was the latter, well, then, I'm suddenly rather relieved.

hehe yeah, that "Making Of..." documentary really, it is good, and in a sense, that documentary could be seen as the 'apology' for the ending

The latter, plus a small, possibly-misleading, "Halo 3 is not in production at this time", from what I've heard. Many people have historically mislabelled "not at this time" as "never", in real life as well as in relation to products.

Frankie in an interview on IGN or Gamespy (whichever place had a series of articles for a week) before Halo 2 came out denied that Halo 3 won't be their next game and said anybody saying differently is spreading rumors. He didn't say Halo 3 will be their next game, but he did say Bungie could develope 2 games at once.

The whole Earth will never be the same, Earth needs a savior and the ILB final chapter totally led me to expect big Earth battles!
So, in a way, I was disappointed with the campaign. But I learned to enjoy the campaign for what it is. And it's damn good!
I think I read somewhere before the release of halo2, that the second game would end the human/covenant conflict!

Hmm. Petition time to get Sean Stewart on the storyline?
