Stella boycott pledges here The winning entry will be posted on www.helpmefindjon.com within 6 weeks of the end of the game, according to the terms and conditions.
Just thought I'd make a note of how long we have to wait for that. So far it's been 2 1/2 weeks since the game ended. 3 1/2 weeks to go before the six weeks is up. Does anyone else get the feeling that Stella might not produce anything useful? My somewhat cynical view is that they'll either:
a. Change the "Help Me Find Jon" site to say "This game is over. Drink Stella."
b. Put a terse announcement there saying, "The winner was [name here]. Well done."
c. Do nothing at all in the hope that it will just go away.
I really hope I'm wrong, and that a full solution will appear with explanations of all clues and red herrings. I'm not holding out much hope.
I will not drink a single drop of Stella until they address this . I really mean that. It's very easy to buy another lager instead, and no other lager manufacturer has pissed me off like Stella has.
Will anyone else join the Stella boycott? Please answer the poll question above to give your support.

I'd boycott, but it won't make much sense, since I don't drink it anyway.
Not to mention, I really don't think having a forum poll pledging to boycott {with how many members?} is going to do much to change the company's outlooks. Most of us here weren't there target audience for the game anyway. Granted, yes, we ended up playing anyway.
Not to mention, while yes, the game ending was a big flop, they really didn't NOT do what they promised, since the 6 weeks aren't up yet. And even then, just because you are dissapointed doesn't mean that they as a company didn't do what they promised to do. Setting up a boycott just because the game "sucked" isn't really going to do much other than make them not do a game again {which I have a pretty string feeling they won't anyway}.
HOWEVER, if you still feel a boycott is the way to go, wait till the promised 6 weeks were up, set up a petition to boycott someplace that will send the signed petitions to the company. I doubt they read our forum.

But who cares? The creators of this game will never come talk to us. This game was mapped out and set loose on us. It never adjusted to our pace, our solves or our pleas. There were no PMs in this game. PM implies interaction with the folks you are manipulating...doesn't it? Behind the scenes, of course but you know they are there. There were no PMs in this game. I reiterate my opinion that this was basically a treasure hunt. If the creators of this game step forward to talk to us then I salute their chutzpah. They could learn a lot by talking to us.

The reason that this poll is here now rather than at the end of the 6 weeks is to encourage Interbev to do something before it's too late, rather than leave it until after their prescribed six weeks is over.
I'm not under any illusions that people answering this poll will scare the life out of Interbev. I just want to make it clear that we are unhappy with what happened. That's all. If they don't care that us few people stop drinking their product, then fair enough. Maybe we can increase awareness of the situation after the 6 weeks if it's necessary to do so.
There are plenty of people here who are in the target audience. I used to buy quite a lot of Stella myself, and now I'm buying something else. The reason for that is my dissatisfaction with this advertising campaign. If my dissatisfaction isn't important, fine, but I don't like to feel like I haven't spoken up when I'm unhappy.
If others agree with me I hope they'll join the boycott. If not, don't join, that's your decision.

I'm just saying, these are already people who very obviously don't get the "pm/player" respect issue. The players are not respected. Most of us here have said so. IF we were, things would already be different.
You yourself just said "I'm not under any illusions that people answering this poll will scare the life out of Interbev. I just want to make it clear that we are unhappy with what happened." Well, so it's not going to hit them in the purses - so there goes much chance of a real change. And, if what someone else said is true, and they do read our forums, they already know we are unhappy. It's been written out in many places. Even if they don't read our forums {in which case, again, the poll to boycott is pointless} they know. People have sent out e-mails to the same e-mail addys we used to contact in game chars.
They don't respect us, it won't change. They have 6 or so weeks to answer us, if they decide to do so early, they will.
{and for the record, since i just viewed the results, i'm not the one who voted no}

I realise that it may be pointless, but it's something, which is better than nothing.
I respect the wishes of anyone voting "no" on the poll, or articulating in a post that they disagree with the idea.
I just wanted to do something that would keep this forum going with some active dissatisfaction with the way this game ended. Otherwise it would probably have no new posts at all.

Now it's 4 weeks since the game ended.
2 weeks left before the deadline on the announcement of the winner.

Wow, that's a neat trick you've got there. I have a similar one. It's called "Counting" it helps with post whoring.

I know we're disappointed that the game sorta fizzled, but I have to wonder if this type of thread is a good thing. The company took a chance on using an ARG as marketing and that's still a good thing isn't it? Could you imagine if an Audi exec had pulled the plug on Heist because they saw people boycotting a product because of an ARG that didn't quite turn out the way we wanted?

boycotting You know, a boycott is one of the most damaging things you could do to this genre.
You don't know what's going on behind their scenes, you don't know if anyone even has the authoritative "rights" to post anything anymore. Maybe someone quit. Maybe someone died. Maybe there are Non-Disclosure Agreements binding people from doing anything further despite WANTING to post something. Maybe someone owns copyrights and has decided not to let a word of anything be posted because they - not the company - are doofusburgers. There may be a completely innocent reason why they haven't done more right now.
Instead, what such actions constitute is a threat - it almost guarantees that you will scare off PM's both corporate and grassroots, that you will hurt them if they do not entertain you sufficiently.
You're entitled to dislike a game, and you're even entitled to be disappointed. But please don't make threats like this because you're going to hurt all of us as a genre in the long run.
Thanks.

Thanks Sin for giving us more good reasons why we might never hear from the creators of this game. I remember the night one of the PMs from Search4Ed came into chat and very reluctantly revealed who he was and and told us things were not good behind the scenes. He mostly hinted at all of this because he had signed a non disclosure agreement. It was hard for him to watch us floundering and begging for someone to tell us what was going on.
So the game is over and in 2 weeks we'll find out who won and maybe we'll find out the solves to the puzzles. But in the meantime please can we let this thread rest?
