I have recently been contacted by someone at CBC and may be giving an interview/answering some questions for a feature that they're planning on PXC... so stay tuned.

/me wonders if Jamesi heard anything from this CBC guy.

Here's a highly informative article from yesterday's Telegraph Arts section online. A link can be found on Mincandy's website too:

There was a piece on Naomi in the Guardian a few days ago. Not much about 'Perplex' (clearly they're taking research lessons from Michael Moore at the Guardian) but it gets a mention...so hey ho. Book out on March 2nd....don't buy it though- we don't want her to resign.

Okay, inside todays (Sunday March 12th) Telegraph, it lists the answers to the puzzles from a few weeks ago. They can be found here.

Everyone needs to buy the March 26th issue of the telegraph, thats when the new puzzle extra supplement will be released. Yes, I know its been mentioned on the other thread, but I'm just keeping all the info together.

Michael Smith, Mind Candy's CEO, was interviewed on G4's Attack Of The Show yesterday evening, which is being repeated this morning at 9am ET/PT. If you saw / recorded this, let us know what was said - otherwise, you can read the amusingly titled article here: Buff Monster, Michael Smith.

I saw the show the show and it was a short and sweet plug for Perplex City. Nothing really new except that one of the cards showcased was Cold Fission. The host did the lighter trick and Mr. Smith said that the password in the card is for one of the "deeper websites". I was looking for a clue in the show but didn't see one but there was also an artist called Buff Monster and he was doing a painting that was strangely in the same palette of the Perplex City homepage. I don't know if it's anything though.

Magicmancraig hit me up with the footage from the G4 interview. "It's like crack! Not that I've ever done crack..."

MTV rock the Perplex City in this article. Notably:

New news aplenty today - all of it shamelessly stolen from Mind Candy's own press pages, but it all counts...

An article on "Brain Games" from USA Today is first up, with PerplexCity being mentioned as one of the leading games which "...taps in nicely to the emerging puzzle-culture thing that's gaining some momentum".

Also featured is an article in "Trend Central", quoting Michael Smith once again.

Finally, and most intriguingly, we have Contact Magazine - which should have an article and a picture of the front cover - but the links are presently broken. However, there is a live link to an accompanying website - here. It's got a Q&A with Michael Smith (he does get about doesn't he?), a listing of ARG definitions, links to ARGN, UnFiction and PxC.com, a place to enter a competition answer which can win you a PSP (but no sign of what the question is - until someone nice at Mind Candy fixes those borked linkies Wink ) and also, very interestingly, "Five top tips for marketing ARGs".

Contact Magazine, from what I can find, is a business-to-business marketing journal produced by Redwood Publishing for the Royal Mail. Mind Candy are pushing their marketing into new areas it would appear Smile

J

P.S. There's a rather lovely photograph from Clapham too, featuring (among others) Ollie and Dysper.

P.P.S. Links to the article and the cover of the magazine are now fixed, and can be found here and here. Thank'ee for fixing those Smile

New one:

I was rifling through the new GameInformer magazine during a free period, and what do I see in the Etc. section (with "cool merchandise and things") but the PXC Cards.

Couldn't give you the issue number off the bat, but the cover story is Red Steel, and the section is very early in.

I'll update with the exact page number and issue later.

Part I Love Bees and part collectible card game, Mind Candy's elaborate web of internet sites, message boards, phone numbers, and - oh yeah, cards - will hvae your brain melting. Each card has an individual puzzle that can be solved and tracked through the website; and some require you to hold them under blacklites or heat them up to expose hidden text - at least that's the rumor we heard.l Communities have sprung up to work on tougher cards, a few of which have been out for months and never solved. At the end of this intensely layered and convoluted pouzzle is a real-world prize of $200,000... and no, you didn't misrea that, so get puzzling so we can split the booty.

The folks at Mind Candy suggested we run this puzzle card, since our geeky clientele would probably get this straight away. Other mind benders deal with logic puzzles, genetics, and even baking.

Lifted out of today's newsletter - good news with a big chain of bookstores carrying PerplexCity cards now. Borders have 68 shops in the UK - no mention yet if the US will also be taking them (but it would be rather nice, especially as they have 460 stores)

Quote:
** WE'RE IN BORDERS **

Within the next few days, all the Borders stores in the UK will be stocking Perplex City puzzle cards. So now you can browse for books, buy a coffee and solve puzzles, all in one place. Bliss. To find your nearest piece of paradise, check out the store locator at http://www.bordersstores.co.uk

Whooopla! Finally we'll be able to buy cards in Milton Keynes (if the shop ever bleedin' opens...)!
