Hopscotch

I was just reading "Creepy" and something struck me...

We know that, when she was very young, "they" tried to snag Jan. (From the conversation she had with James James in the Black Taxi after they had the ice cream.)

James kept going on about how she "killed at hopscotch"...

So the question is... What kind of AI does "hopscotch" make?

interesting... heh, dunno if they actually meant to allude to a parallel there, but you could look at that like an open door for more back-story...

I just loved their dialogue when they were talking about her playing hopscotch though Laughing "you do it on your hands" Smile

Probably something similar to Cortana-in-Master-Chief's armor kind of thing, I would spec ... tactician, but on the ground, in the middle of the fray. Able to toss out feelers and jump to the right place at the right time to achieve a specific, critical mission ...

She's quick on her feet as a human, and able to anticipate the response time of her opponents with accuracy ... then again, hopscotch can be sort of sedate, so half of my vote goes towards sarcasm on his part. Wink

Of course, "they" were trying to snag Jan to become a Spartan, not an AI. But I suppose your question is, if Jan had been unfortunate enough to turn out like Yasmine, for what purpose would her brain have been best suited?

With the usual disclaimer about not knowing enough about the Haloverse, I'm thinking slipstream navigation. Leaving the normal plane of existence -- i.e. the ground -- to hop from one place to another?

Pattern recognition, leading to cryptography or information management and prioritization, according to my files which you aren't cleared to look at.

"forward two, left, right, pick up key, back three, turn around, fit the key, override, and we're through!" Now tell me, was that hopscotch or breaking a complex security system?

Here's a new question: what if an AI's favorite game was an ARG?
