Anybody know the password to either A) the door that doesn't lead to the FIDELIO faucet in the mezzaine, or B) the safe behind the bookcase?

So true, and what would really be helpful would be a to create a community wiki like Nik_Doof has done for the PerplexCity ARG. See this thread: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7195

Would anyone here have the skills, time, and resources available to do such a thing?

If someone can find space for one, I can work on it. Although, be warned, I absolutely suck at keeping things up to date in a timely fashion. I'm really not in a mood to create another guide, though I could do it if no other avenues open up for a wiki/quige/guide.

If there is enough interest, I can find a place and get a php-based wiki up and running.

And for my debut post, a really dumb suggestion:

Why not just make a wikipedia entry? All the wiki architecture is already in place, so all it needs is for the information to be collated and stuck in.

I'd prefer a different, because

1. it's of use only as long as the game is on
2. There are so many clues, that you had to split them up throughout the whole wikipedia. To me it's a matter of structure, that is lost.
3. It's well-known and used by so many people, that the possibility of misinformation (Like we already have here about goldenfuturesandoptions.com) is raised to a high degree.

but maybe someone more familiar with the wiki-system can tell me if I'm wrong with that Wink

I was thinking you could just create a page for, say, "Sable And Shuck", have the overview saying it's the name of an ARG, give a brief overview of the plot and nature of the game, then have sub sections inside the main listing dealing with all the various sites and puzzles.

Sure, it'd only be useful while the game's running, but after it closes it could stand as a way of introducing more people to ARGs and as a way of new players learning about the nature and structure of ARGs by being able to read over the entire arc and progress of the game.

So far as disinformation goes, that's going to be a risk with any wiki. One plus side to the wikipedia is that it stores it's revisions, so you can always recover an earlier version of an entry if someone fucks with it.

For what its worth,

The magazine on the Living Room table IS (or WAS) a real magazine called Sleaze (formerly Sleazenation). Apparently it was only around for about 6 months and folded back in June 2004.

Further information on http://www.dot-alt.com/sleezerip.html, showing the same title font/type as that used on the magazine in thehidingroom.com.

Always,

The Cryptic Celt

Two things that might be worth mentioning. First of all, Jon(athan) Harker is a figure from Bram Stoker's Dracula (The man in black?!). Together with a bunch of other people they bring down count Dracula.

Second, Dennis Horen phonenumber on the sight of the newspaper is 6661366. 1366 is the number of people living in the vilage and 666 is the biblic number of the beast (aka the Devil).

I have no idea where this might lead to, but they might be interesting clues

Hi Cryptic Celt,

Sleaze Nation was here for a while before the rebranding- a few years for sure.

Hi Catweazl, welcome along! Thanks for both of those clues, although we have actually previously discussed them. We think 1366 keeps coming up because it is the date of the first brewing of Stella Artois, the beer this game is promoting.

Actually, from what I've seen, any wiki has the ability to recover an earlier version. While putting it on Wikipedia may be a good idea if no other options open up, I also prefer having it on a player owned site. Having it on Wikipedia may gather more people to the ARG, it also invites utter asshats who just can't help themselves in screwing with the sites. With a player owned site, we can retain a bit more control (going the route of the ILB fireflies wiki if necessary). After having restored numerous pages on the beewiki after oh so helpful people spammed it with links (or decided just to delete whole pages), I'd rather put it in a place where only players are going to see it.

That's not to say you can't put an entry about S+S in the Wikipedia, linking them back to say UF or ARGN. That would allow interested people to find more ARGs, plus keep a built in buffer zone to protect the Quige.

Although there is a change that I might start another topic that has already been discussed (sorry did not read the full content of the forum), but has anyone noticed that winning lotery ticket number as well as the award are so-called Fibonacci numbers? Apparantly these are used to solve Hilbert's (As in the Babel Hilbert Hotel) Tenth problem.

Anyone having any bright ideas about it?
