yeah I'd agree, if they are registered because they may come into play later, if they're smart PMs they won't post the content until it's needed... They can develop the entire site locally, hosted privately, and post it when it's ready... just like in ILB, the audio files didn't exist until the day their specific puzzle (or axon list) was made available... same with the hidden recipe3.html which didn't exist until the sleeping princess found it, but was tested right off the best because there was a recipe2.html and a recipe4, but recipe3 showed 404...
same with registered domains for future websites, IF they will eventually be in-game... so hopefully it would be safe to assume that once there's content, it'll be ok to assume it's current in-game content (if the site, of course, is actually in-game and not OOG, or a squatter)

Excellent work Hannah.
However, I'm tending to agree with BlackCat, that these sites were more than likely registered to prevent any punk attempting to disrupt the game, with fake sites and misleading info.
Good thinking though

Not trying to cause trouble, but I believe recipe3 did actually have a recipe on it before the SP took it over, it just wasn't in the menu. I remember talk of emails to Dana early in the game asking why it wasn't linked.

what about this?
Quote:
Whichever system is used, it would be a mistake to write out the web address in the usual 'http://www....com' format, simply
because it'd be very recognisable and thus provide an easy shortcut to crack the puzzle (and that would be no fun for anyone).
To be totally safe, I would write it out as 'visit projectsyzygy dot com' so there isn't any strange punctuation to give the
game away.
i just came across this on the wiki.

I think (though I'm too busy to check right now) that whoever wrote that was talking about using some sort of cipher to encode the web address. The dots, colon and forward slashes would still be present if an alphabetical cipher was used so writing out the URL as that would allow it to be encrypted more effectively while still making perfect sense once it's decrypted. Given that it's us lot who write updates for the Wiki it's a fairly safe bet that that message isn't a clue (plus it's a site that we've been to plenty anyway). I think you might have misunderstood what was being discussed.

Yes - that quote refers to the encrypted job adverts which were placed in a couple of UK publications. FYI, in the end they decided to keep in the www.website.com format, which made it easier for people like me to decrypt and end up here

Why you *^@!%#*
j/k cause trouble? hey, it was so long ago I can't remember clearly I don't remember there being a file there, I remember going to the recipe3 and not finding anything... but I don't remember as clearly if the 'not finding anything' was 'nothing of relevence', or 'page not found'... blah... but ya, I think you're right cuz there's a honey-glazed chicken recipe there... ah well.
still, my original point about no content until it's in-game remains

I don't know if this is in anyway useful, but projectsyzygy and perplexcity are hosted on completely different servers. the former is hosted by cognac.dreamhost, and the latter by siyazi.pair.com...
then again, it might be that project syzygy was not part of the story of the game...just an initial phase of the game's development...
ahh man...why doesn't the game start already...

Maybe the PM's have become so lazy that their reading our wild Specs. and that's going to be the story because they forgot to write theirs - so they will have to modify our spec!

^^^ Thats probabally true. Why write a story, when if you leave the gamers long enough they will write it themselves.
All you do is leave the odd clue, name, error log and logo, and let us speculate the story together.

to do that you'd have to solve the puzzle of which shops in Meadowhall my wife had hidden it in the cash registers of. That is a conundrum beyond the abilities of anyone to solve....

It was 12, 17, 118 and 34, though of course I'm encoding my reply to prevent others half-inching the cash
