I do think there might be something there since Jon mentions in the cache that "this interesting link might be usefull to bring back those dead websites and for bypassing company firewalls ."
The www.GoldenFuturesAndOptions.com website was already "dead" for 2 years when it was claimed by the PM's. And we have to deal with multiple "company firewalls" on the in-game sites (Cerberus??).
Come to think of it, I haven't checked www.JonHarker.com yet....
I'll do that right now.
On the other hand, most of the passwords for the puzzles in the Hiding Room were reveiled by hints and clues from In-game sites only....
So you might be right.
I dunno anymore....
Gotta catch some sleep tonite
Cheers,
Slowzone

I think you might be right
but we'll have to wait because
Quote:
Sites are usually crawled within 24 hours and no more then 48. Right now there is a 6-12 month lag between the date a site is crawled and the date it appears in the Wayback Machine
and all of these in game sites we created less than 12 months ago.

Here's something interesting I found:
From the Wayback machine archive of GFAO.com dated 2002:
F=Jan
G=Feb
H=Mar
J=Apr
K=May
M=Jun
N=Jul
Q=Aug
U=Sep
V=Oct
X=Nov
Z=Dec
So maybe we have to do something with the months from the cache and substitute them with the corresponding letters from the above chart?
Just my 2 Cents....
Cheers, Slowzone

then my guess is that we have to use that "code" too for stuff found in 2002......or they have brilliant minds there, to "post" a code, and use it almost 3 years later.....
can i get on the payroll for stella artois, or lowe digital?

Are you taking a piss on me? Cause if you are... Friesland is not that far away from where I live Whohahahaa....
No just kiddin'
But Is it to silly to assume that the PM's also discovered that their "www.GoldenFuturesAndOptions.com" domain had already been used and used the Wayback archive just like I did?
And that when they found that translation chart they thought it could come in handy for one of the puzzles?
I mean nothing surprises me anymore...
And why would Jon mention the Wayback machine in the cache if it is of no use to us???
Cheers, Slowzone

true, true,
and i didnt take a piss on you!
but goldenfuturesandoptions was a campaign by stella artois back those days. now they evolved the story into sable&shuck, which just fit in nice with golden futures, and options......
but then again, im not looking weird at anything anymore too, guess it can be something........
perhaps if we get the right order of dates from marlowedigital.com, and then their works, perhaps it might lead to something...
hang on...ill try it

You're telling me that the original GFAO website (the one from 2002 that you can recall through the Wayback machine)was also an Stella Artois campaign??
I don't think so... but please prove me wrong...
It could end this chapter for me and let me move on to the next...
Cheers, Sowzone

No No No!!!
I was talking about the dates in the Cache(Jon's Journal)... not the founding dates of the ingame sites and identities.....
But thanks for the effort

Grutte,
I just discovered that one of the first topics covered on this forum already handled the whole GFAO site thingy...
And that topic was locked because it led nowhere...
So I think we also better let this rest...
But thanks again for going with me on this...
Cheers, Slowzone
