Since the numbers are directly under the semacode, maybe they are linked somehow?

Anyway, eliminate the possibility (although maybe it's rather a pointless one anyhow), I tried creating a semacode using that number. The result is here.

Personally, it makes no sense to me than any of the other semacodes do without decoding (and of course we already know what it is decoded). But maybe it makes sense to someone here?

Si (my crypto mate) thought maybe its a ID number like u have for barcodes, or its just a bit of text to give the whole postal system feel to the semacode.

Also, the PCPS maze, gonna clean it up and get a good version posted, maybe it means summat Smile

Behind the curtain discussion

I', just asking so that I know whether it is considered acceptable or not to expand our researches to the PMs Smile

I thought bout that to and came to the conclusion that it wasn't exactly a hack, and if he didn't want us to find it Adrian could have taken it of easily.

Plus theres no certainty this helps us in anyway Wink

It's an interesting and valid question. To be certain, peeking behind the curtain has nothing to do with hacking and is mostly off-limits even, or more so when it helps us in any way the game itself doesn't. In case of Perplexcity, we already know who are (among others we do NOT know btw) behind the curtain, but in my opinion, discussing BTS stuff would still be largely off-limits, messing with the suspension of reality and all...

This is still pre-game (or so we think), and there's not a real storyline yet, so I guess it's not messing with anything at all really. When the game starts, we'll probably have a similar forum-structure to games like ILB and Regenesis and questions like these should at least be asked in seperate threads with a [META] tag fixed to them, if asked at all.

This is my personal opinion and I do not know how the other mod's think of this. I am a pretty strong fan of iron-curtain policy, but seeing that from PM-side, there is no such policy, I'm not sure what is expected of the player-side yet.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but.....what is the significance of 23rd November 2004? Also, i though that in Perplex City, the local time is different so how can the postcard carry a stamp from Perplex City, but have our world's date on it...?

Unless, the reason why the addresse field has been masked is because the postcard was meant to be delivered to someone else, and the only thing Sente found that he/she could write on was the postcard.

oh yeah, by the way people, I don't think that we missed anything on the helloworld project because if you go to this page http://www.helloworldproject.com/pages/english/02world.php and allow popups, you will notice that in the "welcome" letter thing the date at the bottom is december 9-12 2003.

Thanks for pitching in your opinion.
It makes sense to me, and it will help a lot as the game starts and grows.

About the helloworld

Right now I'm thinking it's not part of this project.

One way to make sure would be to have an independent report that indeed they projecteced messages in those locations in Dec 2002.

However, as was noted, 'hello world' programs are pretty common in computer science. I know there is at least one web site (but I think there are more) that collect hundreds of 'hello world' programs (one or more per programming language). So, unless we find an hello world section on the perplex web site, I don't thnk that 'hello world' by itself can lead us anywhere.

Just my $0.02, and I will most likely be proved wrong Smile

I've been thinking this was just another test, like the "I CAN SEE YOU" braille. I could be wrong, though.

Hello World programs were used as a simplistic way to demo a programming language as working, every great language had at least one hello world wrote Smile

Just so nobody else tries it, translating the numbers into semacode and then taking that as binary does not work.

Another thing not to try is breaking the number into ascii pairs, and shifting them Smile

Here's what I've done:

take 22 15 45 48 48 48 46 51 00 50 32 15; shifting by anything between +65 and +68 will give text-only characters:
Code:
+65:  WPnqqqotAsaP
+66:  XQorrrpuBtbQ
+67:  YRpsssqvCucR
+68:  ZSqtttrwDvdS

And even not-so-great languages like Ook, OOk# (and Java Smile )

Is it possible that these numbers could be in some way related to the numbers from the logfiles we got last update? That there's some sort of mathematical, err, trick, that you can do to get something out of them?

Unfortunately numbers aren't my forte :/
