I found it interesting that on the postcard, www.perplexcity.com was mirrored, and just below that are the words "on reverse" (in the descrip of the frontal art).

I mean, it's not that difficult to read the www.perplexcity.com, so you have to ask yourself why mirror it? There might be a reason, clue to something else?

I dunno, just a thought.

how about if you try to read the postcard in the mirror, might bring up something...or if you look at the image in the mirror as well, and maybe use the binary again...?

I remember seeing it mirrored/reversed in the firebox ad too. To me that is like a seal of authenticity from them... dont know if it has any real meaning.

Jeez...so many circles that I'm dizzy! I definetly think there's something to the maze and numbers on the post card, but I don't have any more a clue then everyone else. Either way, the puzzles aren't gonna get us anything else but a few mroe tantalyzing preview bits and time wasters until the stie really goes through a major change. Just my theory! Razz

nothing at www.yticxelprep.com either

no results from a google search of the reversed text either

(figured it'd probably been done, but I was bored)

Ever think it could possibly give meaning to the while "Alternate Universe" thing?

Maybe their Universe is a backwards/mirrored version of our own?

a few thoughts

thumbing through, everyone notes what hello world is used for. ive seen no one suggest that its being used for teh same here. you code hello world, and if your program works right, it outputs hello world. well, they coded it, and we (the program) outputted the correct response.

anyways.

the mirroring of the website makes me think of the term. a mirrored website. is there another website mirroring perplexcity.com ? and i love the pun in the name, btw. perplex city, perplexity. sorry.

also, its not just mirrored, its upside down. in block text that makes it look suspiciously like early latin lettering....

also, teh letters state that webcodes will be hidden, and how. 484848 looks a lot like www from here, but the rest doesnt fit.

the logo, i didnt see anyone mention that its a common optical illusion. looks like blocks, but two different sets. very perplexing, har har.

okay, im hitting the sack to let this simmer.

A site mirror should be an exact copy of the site. If there was one around that was different then chances are it would be showing up in web searches by now and we would have found it.

Old news back around page 10-ish IIRC - I know that a 30-odd page thread is intimidating - that's what the search is for Wink

If URLs are hidden like this then there should be some explanation for the numbers before the 48s, though (as I mentioned a while back) it's not strictly necessary to to have the www at the front, for example you can get to my blog via cjtonline.net/booted.

Check the Wiki for more info on the ways we've attacked the number.

whoops.

i even saw that slogging throuhg, and forgot it by page 24...

however... i have found something, i think. put myself to sleep last night computing . 2210, like an angle, where any angle over 360 degrees means you go around again. 26, divided into 2210, goes in 85 times. EVENLY. no decimal. i was hoping for a remainder to use as a ceaser shift possibility (based on the letters) but this... wow. so i took the two digit sets, and tossed them in. 100 147 49 46 46 46 48 43 0 44 69 147 respectively. with remainders of 10 5 5 2 2 2 2 17 0 10 2 5 im working with these numbers now. including subtracting the remanders of the division from the originals, and others. i also took the 00 to maybe mean that a=0. taking that, on the subtraction, i got one interesting rot, rot 6 of s q u a a a y r g u k q . square. wow, im really reaching here. i also took the 2210 to maybe be a shifting shift. that is, the first letter is shifted twice, the next twice, the next once, the next left alone, repeat down the line. this yeilds t m s v t t s y b z g p z. still no good. nothing decent in roting either. erg.

wwwdotperplexcitydotcom is 23 letters, 24 numbers in the code under the semacode... so thats not going to do anything...
slicing the number into 4s, and adding them together to make single letters gives j u x p e g. lots of odd little things show up when you rot that, including bmphwy (bitmap highway? roadtrip?) alog and ufia! maybe one of the pms a tfer. hehehe. so nothing there. still cranking away. ive tried running the various permutations of the number though a vignere based on pcps as a key, and a gronfeld based on 2210. nada. hermph.

Heh, deja vu anyone? Re-reading my original reply perhaps it could have used a couple more smileys (I was at work and therefore supposed to be, y'know, working, so I was kinda rushing.....) but it's cool to have someone else trying any wacky combination of techniques on this. However, a warning; this is gonna drive you nuts and whenever you try to explain it to anyone they'll look at you like you could give John Nash a run for his money in the paranoid schizophrenia stakes Wink

Or was that just me?

nuts?

please. this wont drive me nuts. im a regular at www.maydaymystery.com . THATS one to drive you nuts.

and everyone who knows me already knows im nuts. i had several printed out sheets in teh break room at lunch at work today, writing on the sheets. i took the marchant quote, saw the line, my eyes are my own, so i started making blocks and pictures out of the locations of the I's. both individual and in words. then i did an old morse trick. go through line by line, i's and j's are dots, t's are dashes. its a great way to hide morse code in text. so im writing out the dots and dashes, then ran back to my desk, printed up a morse chart, went back to my spaghti, and tryed to translate. gibberish. and i noticed the update earlier while browsing the logs, but i figured it was a nightly update of the main files by the server. ooops.

Programming language?

This might be a longshot, but there is a programming language called 23 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/23_programming_language) which is made up entirely of groups of 2 and 3 numbers. Could this be it? (The "hello world" thing made me think of it. "Hello world" is a common program created in computer languages as a demonstration)

I tried a bunch of combinations digit wise, such as 2,3,2,3...3,2,3,2...2,3,3,2,3,3...and even a few random of the top of my head, Everything it spewed out was gibberash...I guess you could try and break it down into individual groups instead of running the whole thing, btu I'm in class, I don't have time right now...Maybe someone can try to find a reverse coder instead of an interpretator, might be able to try a few key words and just guess what it says.

Alex,

The Travelocity site looks like a legit one, the company has been around for a good while.

Tried putting in Perplex City as a destination anyway..... Don't get excited. Good spot though!

Did exactly the same after I posted. Ach.
