The opthamologist was just somewhere that oneliiivewire took the card to have a very close look at it - the Braille-opthamology connection is coincidental. Let's not start debating whether Kristen is real yet again Wink

Sorry, I was just being tongue-in-cheek while my brain was straining to make connections. Not intending at all to dispute Kristen's reality.

I noticed that the big number had 22 digits, and since the first pair of numbers was 22, I lopped those off. Which, of course, gave me 20 numbers. And since it was a postcard, I started thinking of zipcodes...

Results? Nothing really....

Our intrepid USPS says:
15454 - Lekrone, PA
84846 - No listing
51005 - Aurelia, IA
03215 - Waterville Valley, NH

Anyway, one less thing for other ppl to waste their time on lol.

The positioning of the large number just under the block that translates to perplexity.com makes me suspect that it has something to do with the website itself. But, I dunno.

-----

Two other things, probably equally silly:

1. Every time I see the cube-y letterhead logo from indexB, I think of QBert. I know I can't be the only person around here old enough to remember that. Smile Yeah, I know, what connection could it have? Except that I have this theory that this whole thing is a marketing strategy (based on a few items, including the initial reference to Gibson's Pattern Recognition, which I coincidenatally just finished, the loooong time it was in development, and the Hon chat transcript, where he mentions "a very unusual partner" and how it's "extremely important to reach as many people as possible" and the bit of evasivenss about whether ARG is the central concept behind the game, or whether there are different 'paradigms' which will also come into play.) That being said, I think this is a cool way to introduce a new product (one which they perhaps think will "change the world" lol) into the marketplace. Perhaps it will be a movie, a "game" of sorts (although he says "we are not making a normal computer game"), or a new handheld? Or maybe even some new kind of green footwear from Nike or something (heh, I'm having a hard time trying to fit the shoe-design-glomming thing into the works here. Maybe that's just a bit of sexist humor about the alleged female affinity for shoes. Er, okay, /sarcasm)

Since the item we are to find (presumably here in our own world) is a cube, I lean townards the handheld theory, and imagine the "Reward" to be one of whatever it is that they'll ultimately be selling hehe. Would be cool to be wrong tho.

2. The image of the maze on the postcard strikes me as similar to the T-maze-looking things that are the background for the "L50" on the 50 Pound note. I'm from the good 'ol USA, though, so I know very little about British currency or the meanings behind all the odd-looking symbols on it. It did occur to me, though, that the ppl from Sente-land might think that their PCPS (Perplex City Postal Service) is as much of a maze as we tend to think of our USPS as.

Oh well, enough silly speculation for now.
Namaste,
Chloe

Something? Maybe?

Here's something. I don't know if it means anything, but it's certainly fitting.

RFC2210 is the RFC for RSVP. Certainly seems fitting for a postcard.

http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2210.html

In keeping with the networking theme, 22154548484846510050321 could be an ipv6 address:

2215:4548:4848:4651:0:0:50:321 (or 2215:4548:4848:4651::50:321)

In base85:
9_gF<ZrQl*fKm^v$Qa-C

Sure. Let's see...

RFC's are standards set up for networking and the like. RFC2210 is the standard for "The Use of RSVP with IETF Integrated Services". RSVP just jumps out at me as related to being on a post card. RSVP made me think addresses, so I tried to think of ways to get an address out of 22154548484846510050321.

ipv6 is the latest version of ipv4, the current internet protocol (ip). 22154548484846510050321 could be expressed as an ipv6 address (like your computer's current ip address, but in the next version).

2215:4548:4848:4651::50:321 and 2215:4548:4848:4651::503:21 both look like acceptable addresses, but they don't convert to ipv4 addresses, so I don't think they're actually valid. I could be wrong, I'm not well versed in ipv6.

But, you can convert ipv6 addresses to base85, which produces:
9_gF<ZrQl*fKm^v$Qa-C and 9_gF<ZrQl*fKm^v%*)*M respectively. could be a good place to hide a code or something.

I've heard some people are starting to roll out IPv6, so I wanted to see if this address actually exists. Since I can't ping at work, I've gotta use www.dnsstuff.com. Unfortunately, I got a destination unreachable. Not too many people are versed in IPv6 (including me) so that was a damn good guess pieq3dot14!

Whelp, it was worth a shot.

I can't help thinking of that big number as some sort of routing scheme, though. Maybe like check routing or something? Anyone know anything about that? Assuming a 4 digit check number, that'd come to a 23 digit number.

Edit:

I checked, and it's not a check routing number.

You know, this could be a puzzle that's passed because we didn't find the solution. Because it could have been a lot easier:

www.perplexcity.com is over 221545484848465100503215.

___www.perplexcity.com___
221545484848465100503215.

It's an equation. What's the divide sign on a computer?

"/".

www.perplexcity.com/221545484848465100503215

It would have been simple. But the PM's got frustrated with our stupidity and stuck the email out, changing the index.html of /221545484848465100503215/ to video.html of the root directory.

Just a spec.

Hell, that was the first thing I tried. HIPS is what I always look for first. Then I cried because I knew I'd be stuck on the stinkin' number conversions and math equations for months. *still crying*

Ummm... I searched & didn't find this mentioned anywhere. I'm sure someone else must have thought the same though Confused

The 2210 on the postcard got me to thinking about letters I've had from London recently. With 2012 on them in similar print. So, I looked at the website for the London Olympic bid:

http://www.london2012.org/

Anyway, I searched for cube & nothing showed up, then I noticed the link at the bottom... to http://www.syzygy.co.uk/ Shocked

I know they said there was unusual backing. I reckon Ken would love this kind of thing for the London Olympic bid.

the syzygy.co.uk website is most likely OOG, however, there is one strange thing on their website.... they have something similar to this '.:' on their website...(its their logo even)...

Yeah, I agree it probably is OOG. I was going to post about the London postmark anyway though & when I saw that link... well, I knew I had to post Wink

The .: thing is quite interesting. It might just be an example of the three circles in alignment, but it is also half a square... or a cube

I agree it looks oog, but I posted the other day about a more obvious (spec) clue in the indexb page (although my post has vanished?), whereby 'reading the pictures' might give us a clue i.e. picture 1 "view" 2 "Address" 3 "cirlcle (rings)?" 4 "london for" etc there are multiple interps and it is quite subjective. The only one I'm quite confident is the "london for". In "the mighty" Hon's interview he mentioned that living in the UK would be an advantage and a "backer/partner" so I think we are being sheparded towrds London, the circle/ring could be a ref to olympics (although it could be the cirlce line, or the M25 -that circles london). All this could of course be the result of sleepless nights and too much thinking on my part Confused
