hehe
ok well I'm contemplating adding a 'guidelines for addition' type page, listing all the current data being stored... just so it doesn't get lost in the thread.
Also, as angelo said, you can't edit your own info, but there is a messaging ability where you can send the request to the moderators, like a thread in itself, so the next mod who checks the message queue can make any necessary changes easily and quickly... I check it every couple days. If you wanna get listed, be friends with a mod . My attempt is to have the mods be people who are most active or known in the community/Live, in a sense, a naturally trusted contact who will hopefully know the good from the bad

So basically, if you kill me too much, you're off the list
It's kind of an interesting topic to talk about the good and the bad(We could throw in the ugly, some ponchos, and an attitude and everything would be ok) because everyone participated either during the ARG, or after it. Everyone should be on the list, but at the same time, I've played with some pretty immature people on live whom I wouldn't add.
I guess what I'm trying to say, other than Clint Eastwood is awesome, is that it sucks to be exclusive. Maybe there would be a way to limit the info people see who are deemed "Not so trustworthy". That way we can remain inclusive.
Just a thought.

I dunno, what info would we make public? Not everyone will want their gamertags available for anyone, definitely not emails or personal addresses or phone #'s...
at most, I could just make public the list of the names of people on the list... but then without any moderation, the list could get packed with people who 'just want to be included'... there's no easy solution to it, I think... I think the main point of this was an easy place for friends to keep in touch... it was intended to be be a 'beekeeper contact list'.. I mean... maybe I should change the name then but really, if it's for friends, then anyone who wants to be listed shouldn't have a problem getting someone to list them.

Query: Is this meant to be limited to Beekeepers who are on Xbox Live, to make it easier to find each other? Or is it meant to be a resource for all Beekeepers who wish to stay in touch?
(If the latter, then methinks 'tis in the wrong forum...or at the very least could use a plug in, say, Meta .)
It's basically just a secure place to post your info so we all can stay in touch, it is not directly linked to halo 2 on xbox live.
While I agree this may not be the best place for the post as far as publicity is concerned that may be exactly what we want. It is very much a word of mouth operation, we only want to allow access to those people that to the best of our knowledge will not use it in an incorrect manner. For me, as a mod, that means only allowing people that I have been in contact with regularly through the game, or have met in person to have access.
Hmmm. Then you wouldn't be the one for me to PM, I guess, angelo.
I'd add you in a heart beat...

Hey-
Can I offer a suggestion, if it can be implemented? Is there anyway to add another way to sort the names? I believe when this concept was first conceived, it was supposed to be as a way to be able to contact other beekeepers if you were heading to a different part of the country/world. So is there anyway to get the keepers sorted by state/country?

That's a great idea man. I passed it on to theBruce.

yeah, tis a good idea... don't know why I initially designed it with one location box... but hey... the front page was intended to display different orderings, so I can easily add in a state/province lookup just like the alphanumeric... it's now on the to do list... (gotta separate the location field first to Country, Stat/Prov, +)

I'd think that the critical sort, for Live play anyway, would be by time zone. Being able to search the database for other Beekeepers in your own time zone would greatly improve the chances of arranging a "meeting" online.
-- Steve does think that a geographical search will help for arranging LAN play, though.

hmm... they could be combined... I'd just need a list of all the timezones so that entry can be restricted for ease of sorting...

Perhaps we can add squads to the info. I know that some of us were in say, "The Big D Beekeepers" or "DC Signal Corps" and so forth. Just a thought.
And thanks for adding me Angelo!

Hi thebruce,
I was just looking at the sorting. You have NZ as a U.S. state, which it is not. It is New Zealand, which, though smaller than some states, is still a country in its own right last I checked.
Then I noticed that Nova's entry says: Auckland NZ, USA, which just confuses your sorting program.
Anyway, you should remove the USA from Nova's and put him back in New Zealand where he belongs. Yes, Nova, get back where you belong!
Note to self: stop saying "which"

Ha! I just noticed that myself and was about to post the same thing. Thank you pita, for doing so for me.
And for the record, Auckland is in the North Island of NZ

heh the beauty of multiple moderators I don't even remember seeing NZ in the USA listing... must have been edited while I was still making changes... hehe but it's done...
I think I might actually add a third sort by timezone (hard to combine location and timezone in one sort - would require a nice big list of any possible province/state/country applied to timezones, unless there no guarantee that the information is right; but then again, NZ in the USA was a good example of that already hehe)

If I knew how to do it I would take a world map, with timezones on it, and make it so if you click a country/state it would bring up a list of all the people in that country/state, and if you clicked a timezone it would bring up a list of everyone in that timezone.
Now that would be cool
