I'm feeling zen this morning, so am able to express the opinion that the gradual build will lead to something sweeter in the end (or am I feeling Tantric? Confused )

I think PPC is going to be something a lot longer term than AotH...although I'm sorely tempted to have a go at that one, have invested too much anticipation here!

Dungeons and Dragons

Hi all.

There are a number of nods (probably un-important) towards D&D and the RPG genre in general in the PCS articles on the band RFD.

Roll for Damage

Random Encounter

(take) Initiative

and maybe

HESH [High-Explosive Squash Head?]

Sam

I'll throw my hat over the fence, and say that i think PPC might be back by the Da Vinci Code movie comming out in 2006 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0382625/

there has been alot of refrencing back to the Da Vinci Code book in the update threads. In example the Phee Phi Pho Phum being change so that the constant "Phi" is there, the cache file names that were assembled from segments of e, the post card number being avagdro's * e, and no the firebox ad which states, "The Matrix meets Alice in Wonderland meets the Da Vinci Code."

and to all that say the firebox ad is to blatent and can therefore be disregarded remeber Da Vinci liked hidding things in plain sight ... and so did Dan Brown in the book The Da Vinci Code.

maybe the unusual sponsor is in Japan?

Meh, I reckon the sponsor is Mind Candy, they'll probably run a few of these sort of card game / paid for ARGs etc in the future, might explain the BBC's interest in PxC especially as it's trying to bring ARGs into the mainstream?

Oh, I'm kinda wishing I hadn't looked at that. Obvious but unexpected at the same time. However, I'm not going to fully believe that until there's some concrete evidence. Move along.

yeah, thats fair enough.

just thought it might help to stop some people worrying that the card sales are purely a means of raising revenue and so the game doesnt become just a big con really.

concrete evidence would be good too but thats what im going with until something proves otherwise.

well, i cant really reveal my true sources as it could be grounds for someone being fired.

sorry. i work for an advertising agency and you get to know quite a few people who work for other ad agencies and pr firms. but saying that it could be a big wind up - although im inclined to say not. i just thought itd be worth bearing in mind as it would mean that they would have ample funds to be able to construct the game themselves, without having to rely on income from card sales.

i say, leave this conversation hidden in here and maybe people will see it, maybe they wont. doesnt need to be shouted about, i just found it quite interesting.

hmm, i'll ask my source about this.

edit: apparantly that won't be out till late 2006/early 2007, so either it's not for that or PPC will run for a fair amount of time.

sorry rach, but i don't believe what you say about the backer... it's a good guess, and I reckon your contact probably just assumed this on the back of timing etc. which sort of links in with your suggested backer's ad campaign.

I may be wrong but I'd lay money on it being nothing to do with the backer you suggest

Beside that backer seems a bit funny considering

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the cube could easily be seen as a reference to Sony's rival Nintendo and their Gamecube.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
what if it is from sony but not for a console but a new game one related to perplexcity an all inclusive game arg video game card game ?? and then the leaderboard really makes sense
the cube is hidden in the game ....go back and read hons original articals

I've a fair few ideas on who the 'main' sponsor is, but I'll leave it for my mind alone until I can provide some concrete evidence. Smile

Just wondering though.. in a thread which is entirely about who's backing it why are people using spoiler tags to cover up their spec?
