For what it's worth Cambridge as well as being the site of the postcard retrieval i also home to one of Sony's major game developing hothouses, and very secrative they are about it's exact location - I happen to know where it is and the receptionst wouldn't even acknowledge that they were there - irrelvant I know but Sony would be a natural partner given their media and music and technology interests

Is shame it is not Sony who make the gamecube! By the way, checked some time whether any of the expected releases on that selfsame item was looking 'in game'. Wasn't. Expectation now reaching the level where I could SCREAM!!!!!!

something in the future this maybe wild spec but from the recent ads with reference to biological and technological this appears to be a reference to the Borg. There is a new Star Trek movie planned for 2007 being a prequel to Kirk era, and something to do with the Romulens who are not unlike humans. I know that variations of Star Trek also have mirror worlds in their story lines, don;t ask me which ones i'm no trekkie. Any advance on this if it fits?

recent accounts suggest that revolution was just a codename and now its gonna be called nintendo 21. expected to be on the floor at the next e3, nintendo reckon its gonna be out before the end of the year, i'm not so sure, but they did get a fast turn around with the DS so y'never know. although, if sente's lost his gamecube i could understand why he'd be so distressed ;)

Maybe this is wishful thinking, because if there's anything I hate more than Nintendo it's Star Trek, but I'm looking at Stonehenge LTD. Adrian's sponsor is supposed to be unusual. A movie? A videogame? Wow, that's never been done with an ARG before. Stonehenge LTD is owned by the Bedlam Cube guy. The Bedlam Cube's first coment on Firebox is some guy in London saying "perplexity itself." It's a stretch, I know, but it's the best guess I have.
As to the question in the topic...the game is the hook. We're trying to figure out what it's a hook for.

The game is the hook, but we're being hooked for a reason. Someone had to pony up the money for this shindig, otherwise we wouldn't be here pulling our hair out.

ARGs have been known to be run just for the fun of it, without a major tie-in. Perplex City just seems to have a larger budget than most.
My guess is that if there were a major product or company tie in we'd know about it by now. Of course, I've been wrong before.

We know there's something, because Adrian Hon has said in an interview that he has "a very unusual client." We're basically trying to guess who that client is.

Imagine if it was a broadcast company e.g. BBC ? Then once the game was done and dusted they release a one off documentary about Perplexcity?

I say we take the average time for an ARG to last (if there even is one) then try to figure out about when the game will be over, and figure out if there will be any new products about then

It really depends on the ARG. Average, I would say, would be a few months, but that's a very rough estimate.
