sorry, maybe "(c)old", but check this http://www.pantheon.org/articles/l/lorelei.html and then the quote:

Hi T-Mass- this is just a thought, but I think that some of the posts in the Cache are 'shout-outs' to players that have been communicating with Jon "in-game". I mentioned before that I'm recorded in the diary; I'd guess Lorelei is another player who has been hounding the real people behind Jon's email account with advice and requests for clues!

perhaps this lorelei is what her name suggests to be????

I thought the link to the film quiz with the alphabet made up of letters from film titles could be relevant, especially considering the number of film references in the cache; I counted 12 altogether. Maybe this has something to do with how jon has coded a password?....

the password on the mazzaine has 12 characters...... Confused

i will try and write down the mistakes prob tomorrow - have had guests over for christmas so cannot really devote any time to this at the mo. It would be good if someone else can verify my findings too as some of it i wasn't to sure about - for example in cache1 the entry for 18th sept the 1st entry - WAS - should have been WILL - I havebeen working on this from the point that the code would be found from the correct lettering - ie ILL . However i could be completely wrong and it could be the AS that needs to be used. HELP!!

Changes in dates

What I not yet saw pass on this forum is the increase in day numbers of the different dates in which Jon made changes.

day 1 of april
day 4 of july
day 8 of july
day 13 of august
day 14 of august
day 27 of august
day 31 of october

is it part of a clue? It could look like a clue. Any ideas?

No sightings. But a sarcastic email:

Don't have nightmares Jon.

Actually now I read it again it might not be sarcastic.

I keep coming back to this - i think this an anagram or code - have tried to work out an anagram however have only come up with words and not a whole sentence . I have found so far which may be significant - jOHANN GOETHE, GHENT, NAVAJO, MONTEVERDI,

someone must be able to do better than me?

I don't think it is an anagram, there are too many possible combinations.

Sminky, this caught my attention too. I didn't think of the anagram angle, but I did some googling... It looks like "Don't have nightmares" is the closing tag line for Crimewatch, which is a show in the UK (see this article for example). Apparently, the host of the show says this at the end of every episode, where he has presumably spent an hour revealing all sorts of nasty crimes that have been afoot. Not sure if that's related, but there it is!

re: dont have nightmares jon

Quote:
I've found something by googling about the "Ophidia in herba / Snake in the grass" (which is mentioned in Hilbert Hotel's flash pages)

http://www.texaschapbookpress.com/magellanslog28/snake28.htm

Probably not related, but I shall try to use this code on some of the things we've found.

If you use the concept of the snake in the grass code

DONTHAVENIGHTMARESJON

The word NAVAJO appears.

Code talkers were Native American soldiers who transmitted secret messages over radio or telephone using codes based on their native languages. The name refers chiefly to Navajo language speakers in special units in the Pacific Theatre of World War II. However, the Choctaw language, Comanche language, and other languages were also used, beginning in World War I. In WWII the military (particularly the US Marines) used Navajo speakers for the first time.

Hmmm... guys... and girlzz ofcourse...
The thing Huntress mentioned... the article of CrimeWatch.
I've checked it out and I came up with one familiar layout of a line...

---Then come the words we've all been waiting for:

"Don't have nightmares. Do. Sleep. Well."

The pauses are deliberate, the tone just too evenly measured, and the friendly wink exaggerated to an almost grotesque degree. Face it - Nick Ross isn't suggesting that the viewers try and sleep well. Oh no, he's ordering them to sleep well. Or else.----

Doesnt it look familiar to you?.. one of the guestbook entries is also written in this style... with the dots...ehh..:
----" Never thought Maths would be such fun. Congratulations to. The owners and agencies involved. So nice to have. Space." ----

I'm still figuring out a connection between the two.. i'll keep you posted...posting and all.. Damn.. are those guys goooood!!

well

In addition, the WWII Navajo language code of which you speak was standardized, and should be available on the internet somewhere...

This could be a big break, although I also like the Have.Space. idea.

Navajo Code Dictionary
Not quite sure how it would fit with the phrases, though. I trust that if there's a link, one of you will pick up on it Smile

as far as i could find out, the navajo code consisted of double encryptions...

first the word meaning, changing into another word, similar.....

For example, the code word for "plane" is the Navajo equivalent of "bird." The code word for "bombs" is the Navajo equivalent of "eggs." The logical connection these code words is the analogy of eggs coming from birds just as bombs come from planes
thus a sentence inwhich a bombing was requested would be translated to navajo using, sent me a bird, who lays eggs on target...... (or something like that)

with other words, the usage is limitless, so it would be a pain in the * to get things translated from navajo............
