Hurdles

Referee lines up "guest" players in even intervals. If there is a map with sufficient moveable props such as boxes, those can be used instead.
Players take turns running the race course, "hurdling" the obstacles.
Players are time-penalized for touching the obstacles.
A referee times the race and declares the fastest time.

Relay Race

Setup multiple CTF game.
Players divide evenly into teams of 2 or more.
Each team grabs an opposing team's flag.
Player 1 on each time lines up at the starting line.
Other players line up at even intervals on the map. For example, on Foundation, each leg of the race could be marked off by the rooms.
Referee starts the race.
At each leg of the race, each player must hand off the flag to his teammate, within the relay area. For example, on Foundation, the flag exchange area could be the concrete barrier outside each room.
The referee declares the winner, and disqualifies rule breakers.

Walking Race

Players line up at the starting line.
Players must complete the entire race circuit crouch-walking.
Referee will declare the winner and disqualify "runners."

Tae Kwon Doe

Players disarm (as in basketball).
Players pair off and fight hand-to-hand in a ring or square. Perhaps, the center of Lockout or Ascension could be used.
Jumping is okay, but no grenades or swords.
The referee disqualifies a player for leaving the ring.
There are 2 ways to pick a champion:
Ladder: winner of each pair faces off at each level until there is a sole survivor.
Round Robin: Every player faces off against every other player. The winner is the player who wins the most rounds.

EDIT: Bogus game. As ThaJinx pointed out, you can't melee when you're disarmed.

Steeplechase

Large map with uneven terrain, such as Waterworks.
Various vehicles, boxes, and "guests" are setup as obstacles.
Players run the race together.
The winner crosses the finish line first.
The referee disqualifies players who leave the boundaries.

Actually, you can't melee when you've disarmed yourself with the Plasma Pistol glitch. Sorry Sad

Doh! I withdraw the event until I can think of some way to make it work.

How about Rocket Lunge Race? Probably played on Foundation. You have a "target" stationed at each corner of the upper level, and racers start with rockets and swords, with overshields and damage resistance on. You must rocket lunge around the map for a specified number of laps. Walking or running toward the next target gets you penalized, as does forgetting to cancel your sword lunge.

I didn't make up this game type but it is fun.

Resident Evil

Gametype: Team Slayer
Shields: None
Primary Weapon: Magnum
Secondary Weapon: Sword
Motion Sensor: Yes
Damage Resistance: No
Vehicles: Hogs Only
Turrets: Human
Grenades: No
Weapons on map: None (That's the normal way to do it but I find that you run out of ammo if you're on the human side very fast this way.)
Score to win: 100 (You can play with this as you see fit, when I played it only one human team hit 100.)

There are two teams, when I played it one was red (Human Cool ) and the other brown (Zombie Shocked ). You can choose to start out with 1 or 2 Zombies depending on how full the room is. The Zombies can only use the Sword, the humans can only use a single Magnum, as in no dual wielding. If you're on the human team and you get slashed by a Zombie you have to switch to the Zombie team, also the first person(s) to get slashed by the Zombie(s) will be the starting Zombie(s) next round. Lastly, the Zombies can not operate the turrets or the gun on the back of the hogs but they can drive and one can ride passenger, they just can't gun.

We were playing something like that last night. Except the zombies had needlers, and the humans couldn't fight back at all, just run and try to be the last one left unchanged. Oh, and when you get "infected" you have to say "llaaaaalllllllaaallllll 4 itchy tasty" Smile

Hide-n-Seek / Tag

ROBOGriff helped me work out the details.

Small-medium map, or it would get tedious.
Covenant-only weapons
No weapons on map
Vehicles allowed, but would it matter?
Unlimited grenades.
1 person is "it".
"It" counts to some arbitrary number out loud (50, 100, etc).
Everyone else finds a hiding place.
"It" has to find someone and stick (tag) him or her with a plasma grenade.
The person so tagged becomes "it", and must start counting again.
If you shoot, beat, or stick the person who is "It', you become "It."
If "it" tags someone by any other means than a grenade, it doesn't count.
Those who are not "it" may hide, run, walk, jump, yell, or sing to evade, evade, evade!

Variations:

Marco Polo: When "it" says "Marco", all the players must respond "Polo" on the open channel (no white button).

Zombies: Similar to zombie games above. "It" recruits new zombies by sticking them.

interesting... but it is quite hard to stick someone if their whole focus is to avoid getting stickied (as opposed to also trying to kill you)... in other words you're saying the only one doing the 'killing' is the IT. Everyone else is running. What if you allow the it to also use a sword? basically, if you're sliced or stickied by IT you become IT.

Right: Only IT does the killing. You could add the swords, but that would make it almost impossible to escape IT.

I saw a better description for this.... Dawn of the Dead

Humans vs. Zombies

Create a custom gametype that has no shields, no friendly fire, swords and shotguns to start, and only pistols on the map. (no nades either and we take radar off, way scarier)

Get a group of 10 - 16 people to make it fun and put everyone on the red team except for one player, and put him on the green team. Now, the reds are humans, the greens are zombies.

The game starts and the reds can only use magnum and shotguns while the green guy (zombies) can only use sword.

Once a red is killed by a green guy he must hit start and switch to the green team. Now there are two zombies running around!

You can one-shot the zombies with the magnum, so its pretty easy to kill them off, but trust me, you get enough of them to swarm, and it gets nasty quick.

The last human on the board is declared the winner.

Good levels:

Foundation (try stacking the boxes in front of the door in room #4. So scary.)

Zanzibar - My personal favorite. Lots of high places to hide, but dont stand too close to the sides or you will get someone swording up to you

Barial Mounds - Hiding on the ribs is a lot of fun
