lady j, I was in fact acting on the assumption that this was an ARG, and I was under the impression that Unfiction was out-of-game. My bad, I guess.

I posted it because I figured others would be interested, and, as I said, I took this to be out-of-game. I do slightly resent the "15-year-old brats" comment; I was unaware that this was poor manners, and would like to apologize for the misstep.

I'd delete it, but I get the feeling I can't do that by now, eh?

Unfiction is in fact, out of game (if Neurocam were an ARG, which it's apparently not). The info was put in spoiler tags, it didn't break any posting guidelines here, afaik, so no harm, no foul.

Some of the posts in response however tread very close to the personal attack category, so I'd suggest that everyone just simma down, now. Very Happy

I'd lock this thread but it's the only one for this subject. Carry on....

^^^ If it still makes a difference, you can edit out the spoilered part.

Honestly, I feel we here at unfiction are ill-equipped to deal with Neurocam. One thign is for sure: it's like nothing we've seen before.

Right, so apologies are probably due on my part, as well. I stand by my belief that Noctiluca's disclosure was in poor form, but I could have been more levelheaded in expressing that.

This whole situation is actually quite ironic, because I came in here a while back and left an "out of game" comment that received complaints from other members, as well. (Though those complainers were far more graceful than I in voicing their displeasure.)

I think The Watcher is right that Neurocam and unfiction may not be a good fit. Even if it does turn out to be some form of ARG, I can say from my involvement so far that it's certainly not built to be played with any kind of "out-of-game" arena running on the side. That's exactly the point of Neurocam -- there is no "out of game." And I think to try to force this thing into a traditional ARG mold would only destroy a rare and delicate breed of .... of whatever the hell it is.

But again, I do apologize for being such an ass. I'm duly embarrassed.

Noctiluca, Don't sweat it, were all noobs when it comes to Neurocam because it's like nothing that's out there yet, or so we've been led to believe so far. I don't think it was a good idea to post something here when the PM's or whoever the hell they are specifically addressed as out of bounds. But thinking about it, it really isn't going to much harm to anyone. It's was tagged as a spoiler...no harm no foul. Wink
Anyways, for me, transportation is no problem, I'd do just about anything to finally get in on the actual game. The closest center of I Love Bees was 4 or so hours away from Cincy. Idea I guess that's where the 16 yr old cut off comes from, lack of transportation and funds for these missions.
I've just got one question for anyone who's been deeper into this thing. Have any of you gained any more of an idea what it is we're dealing with? I don't want to know what it is, I just want to know if everyone is following blindly or not.

If you're going to ask anyone that, the best person to ask would be Lady J. Wink

So...Lady J, can you answer? I mean, is that bending the rules of the game too much? I'm not sure how strict the wording of silence was aboiut all this... Dunno I just want to know wether we start getting answers as we go along or if we keep doing as we're told?

I got the mission too! Woot. 16-year-old operative, reporting for duty. *makes the necessary "shout out"s to all other underage agents*

My friends are gonna think I'm SO WEIRD (if they don't already from the application process). Razz Very Happy

Edit: My $.02 on Unfiction being "out of game". Quoth the email from Neurocam, "Neurocam International is aware that many operatives publicly discuss and relate their Neurocam experiences via online forums and web journals. Operatives are permitted to continue this practice, but are strictly
forbidden from revealing the exact details of this assignment."

I agree that Neurocam is out of game... but I don't think Neurocam is -really- a game. So far all I've seen is out-of-game discussionj (IE who is Robert Hely?) being absorbed in game.

Noctiluca

Noctiluca: Were you asked to take it down directly by Neurocam, or was there another furor that made you edit it? Has Neurocam "diciplined" you in anyway?

Offending post has been edited out.

AveryCardoza, they have yet to say anything; I'm hoping they won't. Posting it was pretty dumb on my part and it was the backlash from others here that made me choose to take it down.

Hey, just some thoughts I'm having.

so now they've got a lot of people interested, internationally. And to get them on the bandwagon, or at least satisfy them (seems like a long time between emails) they find people in relatively close proximities, and have one do a mission, and then another act out the rest of that mission.

Case in point, maybe, the person who had to cut out the images and stick them in the books. They'll find someone who lives near them, and send them looking for the books to get the images and piece the images back together.

Someone's mission is to put the briefcase in the locker, another is to go to the locker and get the briefcase, and then another different person to pick it up.

All a big circle, and those who closely followed these would find it obvious, I don't know, just a thought.

There's very little I know that I haven't posted on my blog.

The private things I do know are slight, and may likely have been revealed to me as mind-f#cks in their own right. In other words, these truths may not be any more "true" than what is publicly know. I don't fear Neurocam, but I don't trust 'em either.

And nothing I know sheds any light on the true nature of the great and mysterious Cam.

(But my personal belief --ask me in five minutes and it might change -- is most eloquently expressed by operative Simon Moon, here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/kybalion/)

RE: Grey Cadillacs

I think what they want to do with the book is have people find them randomly and sort of say, "what the hell is this?" then go on to do research on their own. soon enough, here they are joining us in our discussion, or setting up a blog spreading the word. it's an exercize in memetics, for one.

So far, the major discussions of the Neurocam work has been conducted on Graham and Tripts blogs - AFTER the assignment had taken place. It occurs to me that relating incidents that occured in the past would be no problem for Neurocam, as security would most likely have already been tightened, whereas they would have a problem with prior notice being given to people who might try to counter their methods of operation.
