Well, as Bill could probably tell you, a dead drop is a spy term used for places where clues and information and items can be left safely for another spy (operative, in this case) to pick them up.

What you have to do is basically find some safe, hidden locations around your city where you think you could drop an item that could remain safely hidden until another Neurocam agent or member could grab it. Look for them, then you have to report back to Neurocam with a detailed report of where these locations are at and how objects and information can be hidden. Then, most likely, Neurocam will use this information in a later assignment to drop object or information off and have operatives pick it up at these spots, if they are safe enough.

You get extra brownie points if you include maps! Neurocam use multimap.com but they cleverly make the image negative so that it looks cooler. Rolling Eyes

(D) TIMELINE

The time restrictions of Neurocam's ongoing operations dictate that
Neurocam Assignment NCI-2561/01 must be completed by 10/02/05.

Damn, either this game is going to move REALLY slowly, or this isn't taking place where they write the dates in the standard MM/DD/YY order.

Shucks.

I'm guessing that it's in European date format, meaning February 10.

Also, the signup page has been changed. They no longer accept entried from persons under 16 years of age. I'm glad I got in when I did.

Same here Kelis and Eden. I just got into Neurocam (myself also being in the US) and I got the assignment last night too. I also sent out an e-mail asking about how long it would take for our applications to process to Mr. Knight. I got back this:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Dear Colin,

Thank you for your e-mail.

Your kind offer to provide additional personal information has been noted
and is appreciated. It is not, however, required.

Neurocam's application process is proceeding in accordance with a
pre-determined time-line. This process will take, on average, ten (10)
working days to complete.

Regards,

Maxwell Knight

Very nice of him to get back to me so fast. Plus right after he mailed me I got the perception assignment, so I'm guessing I'm pretty much in now, unless I fail my assignment. Good to know.

I know this was asked a few pages back but I think it's worth brining up again. Has anyone failed an assignment?

my bad...

i should learn how to read.... There were posts yesterday....

But seriously, I didn't have anything out of the ordinary happen to me. Makes me think this Neurocam thing is WAY over-hyped.

I don't think the idea is for any of us to have extreme "out of the ordinary" events happen to us, but to see normal events under different circumstances and look at them in a different light. That possibly, even the most normal of circumstances can be scrutinized and looked at differently and maybe some new knowledge can be learned.

For example, our observational training. Nothing like a huge ass blimp is going to come to our towns with "Neurocam OWNZ YOU!!" on the side of it. We're going to go about our daily lives, but between the hours of that day, we're going to scrutinize it for a brief period of time.

Now stop and think. If Neurocam didn't give us this assignment, would we scrutinize those hours that much? AKA, would we care about what happens to use during those hours of that day? Most likely the answer is no. Why would we? But, because this random "company" told us to, we're going to. And even the most normal of circumstances may look different because we're concentrating on it.

"Slip out of your mind and get into something more comfortable."

Look at your own life in a new fashion. All of the above are just my thoughts and opinions though, take them or leave them.

agreed...

The fact that you observe something also changes it. There's some great conjecture about that, but I'm too lazy to look for it.

You're right about the fact that it would seem out of the ordinary, by having someone look for it. I was thinking more in the grand scheme of things also, (global) as opposed to local.

Ah, very true. Something interesting could happen on a global standard, although that is quite rare and probably hard to pull off, but it would be interesting neverless.

I'm quite anxiously await my observation period too. I dunno, it sounds like of silly, waiting for a period of time that I'm going to observe harshly. I mean, I could observe my life harshly right now, but I am subconciously choosing not to.

Ahhh, this is ripping open such philosophical arguements and concepts. I better shut my trap before I start ripping out the lanugage my philosophy teacher uses to rip into me every Tuesday and Thursday at 2:00 PM.

Nah, it's interesting!

I think it's fair to say that at least one interesting thing happens to you every day. Even if it's something that wont fascinate someone else but is something that you don't usually do... Ok, maybe not every day... but some days.

neurocam just ask this so that they can measure how good you are at recall and descriptions... Or at least that's the story.

Just see if you don't get the minimum required points Rolling Eyes Razz

A tonne of unique things did actually happen on my day which was... a while ago, i don't remember.

Joining neurocam has finally given me the push I needed to buy a digital camera... i'm sure it'll be useful in missions and I just love cameras, too!

Sent in the lastest assignment report just now, I signed as a different name then usual, just to see if they will adapt like they did with another operative a few pages back. I'll write more when I get an answer back from them.

My real question is, why hasn't anyone bothered to bust open one of these silver briefcases?

Someone has, or at least claims to have opened it. It apparently contained a minidisc containing audio. I'll quote from Egotript's blog, below.

Quote:
Ok, so some secrets are out, but a transcript of this disc is not readily available for public consumption. Let me answer these and other questions that have been bandied about.

The disc did mention the JDSRF at Pine Gap, in fact it was an account of one "scientist" who was taken thru the facility and asked to perform some tasks he was not morally or ethically inclined to agree on.
OI wants me to make all of this public although I feel he knows enough already by the questions he asks.
The disc mentions experiments involving HPV, the Human Papilloma Virus on various subjects, both animal and human which does tie in to experiments alledgedly conducted in the US. Pine Gap is US-puppet enough, is it not? Has anyone read The Men Who Stare at Goats by Jon Ronson?
As for Operational Morsels mentioned, there was but one, not so much a morsel as he is big cheese, apparently he ran the JDSRF for a little while, the guy's name was Maxwell, and he's to be feared.

-- Egotripts Blog, Jan 16, 2005

The Australian operatives aren't traditional ARG-ers; they tend not to share information as openly as and ARG-er. Please don't harass him to release this information because he won't until he's ready to.
