You might be the only one.

I was very hesitant about neurocam, but looking more closey, I'd say the fun factor has -everything- to do with keeping things to your damn self.

Motives arent fun. Acting like a spy and looking for things, even though you dont know what they are, is. Smile

Application

Well...

I can say that it's been quite a while and I still haven't heard anything back from neurocam, aside from an answer to a question which said that only 21.something% get accepted.

Maybe I'm just impatient.

Yeah, lets just mindlessly do what ever these people we don't know ask of us that sounds like a great idea.

Honestly, if you aren't questioning thier motives your a freaking moron. We could be aiding in any number of illegal activities( reguardless of what the site says)

You can do what ever they ask with out question. I shall remain vigilent.

Most of us are smart enough to know what's legal and what isn't... Neurocam is legal. (In my experience)

I doubt there's many people here who don't question neurocams motives! But there's no harm in what they're asking us to do... I may be a freaking moron but not because of neurocam.

Everybody got that email, that's their standard "your application has been received" notification.

Your next email should be your Perception Asserssment and Questionnaire. All operatives have to do this one, it's generally easy (truth be told, you yourself have direct control over how much work is required for it) and Once it is sent away and accepted (and you'l receive a standard acceptance letter for that) you're in.

You get one mission per month, approximately. Initially, they will be intelligance/reconnaissance style missions, but if you're lucky enough to have other operatives in your city, you might actually get a mission where you interact with them.

Although The Cam say that it is allowed to share your experiences publicly via journals/blogs and messageborads, it's kind of a dying practice because gradually people are getting the hint that the Neurocam experience is meant to be a private one, it's your own personal experience and feelings about the missions that are important. It is also *strictly* illegal to reveal what your missions actually entail, and The Cam are quite serious about policing that.

Also, to answer Parker's question, above: Yes, it most certainly is still going, and I don't think it will stop anytime soon. It's been running for over a year, after all, and with this recent new wave of applicants, we should see it go on at least that long again. Unlike some, I actually *don't* think it is leading to a single specific event or conclusion, nor that it has a "plot" per se. It's more a large scale Timewaster where you get a new little mini-game to play out in the world once a month.

Actually, now that I think about it, and look at the various missions people have talked about and that I have got, I think the ultimate goal of Neurocam is to get people to open their eyes to their own surroundings. To look at the familiar as if it were new again. To start taking notice of our own home town and see all the parts of it we normally walk right past and dismiss as just background. That's certainly been the case for me so far.

Not bad for some Melbourne uni student's Arts project, is it?

Neurocam is not an art project. It's been confirmed that Hely's "Neurocam" is an art project about the Neurocam organization.
