Ok, I may not be the sharpest tool in the box (I blame my kids) but I can't get past question two. I understand what I have to look for the get the answer, but when I look, I can't find it. I actually think I'm going mad :/
Looks good though.

Soul

Anyone out there working on this? I'd love a second opinion on part of the last chapter, but nobody I know IRL would have the interest or patience necessary to have me explain it. So I thought to myself, "If only I knew someone who loved crazy puzzles and codes... OH WAIT!" Very Happy

So, in case you are looking for a true time suck, here's my best write-up of the puzzle that has people stumped: "Soul." I'm including lots of spoiler tags, so that you can work through things on your own if you want, and also to hopefully avoid tainting your thought process with what I have collected -- seeing as that has gotten me no where. Smile

For background, Chapter 5 Part 2 starts with the following:

This is translates (via substitution) to:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
A journey began when you pushed through, water, earth, air and fire. Now only spirit remains. Ahead lay challenges great. A strong will you will need. To win be quick. The prize is close. You need only exhibit perseverance. A key you have found. Order you will need.

Clicking the image leads to (link, because the image is pretty huge):http://urbanquest.s3.amazonaws.com/static/img/epic/WorldMap-F.png

Each of the 4 red dots has a puzzle -- "Soul" is the one that comes up when you click the dot that is located at Yale Library in CT (Side note: the letter string at the end of the first page can be converted into half the coordinates for each location). "Soul" looks like this:

Using the same code as the first page, the text translates to
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
WHAT IS THE NAME OF THIS PLANT
plus an extra character -- probably a question mark.

A hint was released for each puzzle, and the hint given for this one is: "Connect the dots. Red herring. Mixed up." For the puzzles that I have solved, I found the hints to be relatively straightforward, so I have no reason to think that there are not, but who knows.

Other (possibly) relevant information:
Astute readers will have noticed that the image
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
is from the Voynich Manuscript -- f100r.

Similarly, the "legend" on the map has a column of the (apparently unique) code they have been using, in no order that I can ascertain (and with 2 B's and no T) and a corresponding column of
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
EVA, a transcribed font of the Voynich characters, arranged from A-Z (but starting with ` and skipping W, because that's what EVA does).
The legend has not been used in the solve of any other puzzle, nor could it have been used to decipher the original code, as far as I can tell.

Also on the legend, there are
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
two boxes on each line with dots -- single and double dots. If you turn one of the columns upside down, the single and double dots "line up", in that they appear in the same "row".

The obvious answer is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
OKEEOS -- the transliterated "name" of the plant on the corresponding VM page -- or EHSSEB, which is OKEEOS "translated" through the inverted legend. This doesn't seem to be correct, though.

So far, the puzzles for this chapter have led to sensible answers -- that is, words, phrases, years, etc. -- not strings of random letters. And given the "Mixed Up" hint, my guess is that the answer will have to be anagrammed. Neither of the above answers produces a sensible anagram as far as I can tell. They also fail to meet all three hints, as far as I can tell.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
OKEEOS would not use the "Connect the dots" clue, and EHSSEB would not use "Red herring" clue.

I should also mention that I've tried a million other ways of using the legend (I actually have a program that automates about 10 different possible ways to use it) on the words above and also on any other word I can find or come up with:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
including other words from VM or from the question itself (some of which are difficult, because one line is missing a W and one line is missing a T), Voynich, Yale, MS408, etc....

I'd love a fresh perspective!

URBANQUEST Epic Quest is OVER

URBANQUEST Epic Quest is OVER.

there's no longer any money prize at stake.

I think they are leaving up the puzzle for now, fo anybody who wants to try and solve it - I've documented how the solutions were arrived at (except for 2), so if you have questions, I can give clues or solutions.

Possibly just another simple substitution? Something like:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
LITTLE
