Global bias I became a member of this forum yesterday after I started on 'the hiding room' game. After a night of unrest (the darn 'hiding room game' was spinning trhough my head) I came back to the forum to continue reading posts on this marvelous game. I noticed I had a new personal message. After opening it was this weird message, which I guess must be some new game. Can it be that new games are advertised through personal messages? Anyway, for those of you that didn't get it I copied/pasted it here.

I noticed you subscribed to this ARG forum. This could mean you're a simple bystander that happened to come across a game you did not understand for which you sought some information. If so, do not read further and forget about this message for I am not responsible for the consequences.

I must say, at this point I am such a simple bystander. Therefore, I have no clue what this is about and what to do.

This may not really be spoiling anything if I'm wrong but...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Well the first string of letters looks like ISBN code for the DaVinci Code...
I haven't yet begun to look farther, but the only thing I can think of after that is perhaps the other strings of numbers are page, word, and letter, and that for example, if you saw 25 37 4 you would go to the 25th page, find the 37th word on that page, and the 4th letter of that word would be the letter representing that line. Then you add up all those letters, and make a sentence (hence the period.) But I could be totally wrong... but with all of the last (of the third digits) being 10 or below... that's my guess
P.S. I don't have the book, so I cannot prove or disprove this.

So this could be a new game then? Great, might get my mind of the hiding room thing. Must try and get an English copy of the DaVinci code (if that ISBN remark is correct).

My idea too-so i went to the library and got the book. But the problem is, the second set of numbers doesn't work- there are not enough letters in the word. But maybe i'm doing it wrong.

The Da Vinci Code's been out for a while hasn't it? Would've expected any Promo Puzzles etc to be sent out etc before the release date?

Movie Well they are working on a DaVinci Code movie ( starring Tom Hanks)
But last I heard it was in pre production and not due out till summer 2006.
So it might be a bit early for a movie tie in.

They just released a special edition DaVinci Code with pictures and extras. If this were an official promo, it could be for that.

In response to the previous spoilered posts,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I would try page number, line number, followed by word number, as opposed to the word number

Also, you'd need the copy of the Da Vinci Code with the ISBN number in the message. Different copies might have different words in each row and column.
Edit:
Well, I checked and found that my copy of The Da Vinci Code has that ISBN number. And Jay, your theory doesn't work. Page 42, line 2 has no 10th word.

I couldn't get the right copy. I have a Dutch copy though and looked throug it. What struck me is that the first numbers do not go higher than 104. I find it a bit strange to refer to page numbers and stop at 104 while the book has 400 plus pages. Then I noticed that the book has 104 chapters. Maybe the first numbers refer to chapters instead of pages. Ihave no clue to what the second and third numbers might be since my copy most likely doesn't produce any results. I ave tried though, you never know. But no results when using:
page, word, letter
page, line, letter
page, line, word
chapter, page in chapter, word
chapter, line, word
chapter, line, letter
chapter, word, letter
All gibberish. Maybe someone can try this the correct English copy.

I came up something, but not much
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I did the page number, the line number, then the letter number on that line.
66 21 4- A
54 2 6- G
39 3 1- R
76 3 1- F
76 3 2- R
56 20 5- O
39 4 4- H
98 5 4- E
if unscrambled a little bit
ARG FOR HE
with "T"- ARG FOR THE
and then the next set of numbers, 6 7 2, doesn't work, because the sixth page is blank. Maybe it is a "T", but this the point where the rest comes out in gibberish. Any ideas?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
and for the rest, i came up with-
L N T A A A R V H L. A N L U _ E M R N O R O _ T H C A L O E T _ I
altogether-
A R G F R O H E _ L N T A A A R V H L. A N L U _ E M R N O R O _ T H C A L O E T _ I
