Y'know, this forum would just not be complete without Cherry Cotton's posts (I loved the positronic logic pants story... in fact, I saved a copy of the page and put it in my folder of ilovebees miscellania )

The above should be read as a compliment... it's not creepy at all. Really.
To all the people above who have provided me with both whimsy and some new information on correct grammar:
I fully concede all attempts to misuse irony were purely out of my love of Alannis Morrisette's song... and I now bow to the more informed members of this thread
In an attempt to at least pay homage to the original topic of the thread, Congratulations to all those nominated in the poll for favourite beekeeper - I couldn't make a choice though, so just pretend I stuffed the ballots with a vote for every beekeeper here, and they all cancelled out

Hey, when is the voting time up anyway?
Not until after the holidays, at least. I'll probably post a deadline some time early in January.

Nope, still proceeding by PM (unless I suddenly get a huge slough of objections) for at least three reasons. First, straight voting is the same ol' traditional way all those other awards shows do it. Second, plently of people have already voted by PM. Third, I think it'll ruin things if people can see how the voting is going before the actual presentation. Where's the fun in that?

Wait, you think he was serious?
I'm sorry, Angelo, but I cannot permit you to call Shad0 a jerk. For he has the coolest emoticons ever. You'll hear from my seconds on the morrow.

Re: [META] The envelope please Arbitrarily deciding that the voting deadline shall be 23:59:59 (PST) on Monday, January 24, 2005. (I was going to make it January 17, but I'm about to disappear into Real Life(tm) HELL for about three weeks. I know I'm not going to start counting votes until then anyway, so you might as well get the extra week.) If you've voted for only some of the categories, feel free to update and vote for the rest!
(Say, does anyone think that we ought to post something about this in any other forum? A clever person pointed out that folks might not be paying attention to Questions/Meta these days.)

Probably. Would you like me to post a notice in the General forum?

Absolutely - I suspect many people don't make it past the top two forums any more.

Incidentally...actually, rather randomly...my word for today is "faff." It provides a genteel alternative to "farting around," as in, "Oh for heaven's sake, stop faffing about and get in the car!"
Isn't it delightful?
I'm certain that if I were to put it into commission it would be heard as fapping around. Certainly not very genteel. As someone who may very well be a colonel in 6 months, I have to monitor my gentility. (As every boy should know, if he wants to catch a beau.)

And now, its time for the delightfully boring and useless geographical trivia tidsbit for the day.
Gestas, you may find it interesting that your home town of Dunedin was the place where the cable car pull curve was invented for the St. Roslyn Tramway.

*halting threadjack and returning to topic* :p

Thank you, thank you. It was an honour just to be nominated.
Wait - this wasn't a category. Oh, the shame
(Y'know if there had been a category for "best semi-lurker" I think I would have had a chance. I really do.)
I'd say kudos for the use of cablecar trivia to derail this thread, but I think anything keeping this thread jumping till the all important award anouncements come in is a good thing.
Oh, yeah - I'd have a chance for "most annoying run-on sentences" too.
GabrielBlade - Yep, there's at least two Beekeepers in Dunedin I even thought you might be a 2nd year comp sci student at one point because your exams ended the same day as mine.
Wonders if GabrelBlade will wonder if he's being stalked before he realises he posted that info a while back?
Wonders if he'll think "Well yes, I did post that info a while back, but why does Gestas remember it?"
