[UPDATE]12/19/2004 lg8.htm

New text on white background, and a host of other things in the source code to translate.

White text:

Source code:

Which means that he really, really messed with these phrases.

This is actually the newest part:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Jill doesn't deserve her fate. If you truly do understand, let us know and
we shall find a way for you to help. Already a madness is beginning to afflict the Camp Hill area...

Most of the other stuff has been there before and is solved on the Wiki

First, do a ROT-18, then split letters into groups of 7 and put each group on a separate line, then read the letters down: dw distracting from productivity since two k four (gives a keyword of 2004 which takes you to a calendar)

2 simple substitution ciphers, each with different ciphers. First one translates to: The sciences, each straining in his own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge

The second uses a keyword of "tycho" and translates to: will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein,

Both lines are from one of Lovecrafts works.

I almost think that appeared when the new daemon3 jpg turned up...about twisting the japanese clue to get yakuza. May be wrong about that tho.

Few other updates tho:

<!--nqvlecvlmzioiqv-->

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
ROT-18: almost got the server hacked stay tuned
ROT-18: find wunder again

---

I tried looking on the wunder page - nothing new. And wunder0.mp3 is not a vaild file. Also tried just wunder and wunder1 with mp3 and wav extensions and nada.

<!--jbepmnqfmlpqamuiqt-->
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
ROT-18: btwhefixedhisemail

I should have the wiki updated with all the new info in a bit.

Admin Updates

From Dan's page

Quote:
Wow, I haven't updated this in a while. Amazing how silly those last couple of updates look. The truth is, I've found something to be happy about in this little town, and am definitely feeling...satisfied. Maybe being a cult leader has its perks.

From Flora's page

Quote:
Everything I do is for a higher cause. I must remember that, no matter what I have to do.

and Mace

Quote:
Michael Ace: Mr. Zhang, who was the "yellow emperor" I heard you mention him recently and I don't recall him from the doctrinal pamphlets I've read.

Master Bao: I'm glad you asked, Michael! The Yellow Emperor was one of the very first sages and magicians in the ancient days of China. He is still revered today as the patron saint of medicine. I have some books of Chinese history I could let you look at.

Michael Ace: That's okay, books aren't really my thing...

And on the Idunn Town page:
Quote:
THE TWENTIENTH DAY OF THE LAST MONTH - Let it be known that the portents for the coming Festival are chaotic; not surprising, given the significance of our undertaking. Master Bao is in deep consultation with his closest advisors, divining the best time for the Festival of Appointment. The Festival shall definitely take place this week, although it may be one or two days later than originally planned.

And in the source code (ROT-18)
Quote:
you aint seen nothin yet bao

Are our/jill's friends the ones behind delaying the festival? Also, why does it say the 20th day? Shouldn't it be the 19th? Or are the ppl of Idunn not allowed to visit the web page on sundays, which means they would see it tomorrow?

log3.txt says "patience is a virtue"

OK, new task on the admin page:
Quote:

Staff meeting today; we may have to delay the festival.

And on Daniel's page, Master Bao responds:
Quote:

Master Bao: I'm glad to see you're feeling better, Daniel; how is work progressing on that other project? I fear it may be urgent.

wunder1.mp3 is available. It's kind of a mix of cuts from pop songs with some static between (like someone changing a radio station).

I only have one thing so far:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The guy at the beginning says, "Listen to the music, not the song."

New comment by Bao on Flora's page

Believe me, my dear, it pains me as much as it does you.

The first part after the "listen to the music, not the song" part isn't pop music - that's Super Milk Chan speaking with her frequently-abused robot, Tetsuko.

There's also alternating phone tones - right, left, right, left, right, right.

...more analysis from someone with audio analysis software and a clue how to use it, please? (I could *get* Audacity for Linux, but that would be like a caveman wielding a laser pistol - potentially effective, but just as likely to shoot his own foot.)

Don't look at me. My expertise is limited to opening up the file with windows media player or itunes. I put it up for discussion in #uf, but got no takers. I'll try again though.

I have Audacity and some other audio analysis tools I like to use. I'm at work right now, but I'll check it out when I get home. Haven't even had time to listen to it yet.

I had some time to investigate the phone tones. I'm pretty sure they evaluated to:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
8, 8, 8, 8, 1, 3

That would sort of make sense...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
He's frequently using the Rot-8 encoding, but sometimes we see the Rot-13.

I also thought...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Since there was the 8888, and the page in8888.htm was just found recently, that perhaps we were to append the 13 to it. Just in case, I tried similar frequencies that may have sounded the same:
13
16
19
43
46
49
73
76
79

But none of them yielded anything relavent.

You might be close again, sean.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Quote:
"It's all down to those kooks in Idunn," he expounded.

Sentences like this say to me that there's a secret message in in8888, and that 13 at the end might come in handy to find it.

OK, I can only hear four phone tones; where are the first two?

The four I hear do sound like 8,8,1,3 though.

You might have your stereo set up incorrectly. The 8's alternate sides, and the 13 is centered.

I don't know if it means anything, but the 2nd song on the mp3 (right before you hear the touch tone sounds) is a Bob Dylan song: Tangled Up in Blue sung by the Indigo Girls on the album 1200 Curfews.
