If you're going mexican it HAS to be a hole in the wall joint. Unfortunately I'm not familiar w/ la cabana Sad. Can't remember any others in metro LA off the top of my head (it's been a while since I've been up there and wanted that much heartburn)

Outside of that Italian places are great for large/loud gatherings (Romano's comes to mind where you DO get crayons and I've seen jugs of wine with an honor's system....) but then again that's not something that's unique to Cali.

As for asian food I can't help you too much there...although I have been in a boba fight and that's about where my knowledge stops.

Well, I just sent out an e-mail to everyone, so if you didn't get it and are planning on attending, I don't have your e-mail.

Basically I said we're shooting for wednesday, Jan 19th. We just need a location. Either of those places Kristen recommended sound good with me, I just need to make sure I can get there, coming from Sherman Oaks.

I can gaurentee that it'll be a good time for all... the DC meet was a blast. So I'm hoping everyone can make it...

There was a pritty cool Italian place that Shad0, Angelo, and I met at for lunch in Sherman Oaks.

We could try that.

It was
Mazzarino's Italian Restaurant
12920 Riverside Drive, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423

I just mention it because it's in Sherman Oaks. But getting to either of the places Yum-Yum mentioned from Sherman Oaks shouldn't be a problem.

Also, it looks like I have next Wed off. I'm free that day pretty much whenever.

Looks like we're meeting at the PF Changs at the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica on Wednesday, Jan. 19th at 7 o'clock.

If you're in the area and want to join us, feel free. I love meeting Beekeepers!

(got my tractor going, was working on road f8ill for some potholes round my roads, got my tractor stuck. Took my truck to get IT out and got my truck stuck! Neighbor helped, brought out his smaller tractor, cause his BIGGER tractor was stuck! 1 minute, everybody out Smile

People who want pictures, let me know.

That's a horribly short post, but that's about all I have to say.

I'll go for pictures. Throw a link, specially for those of us stuck on ugly freeways (dont know what happed, but it took me nearly 2 hours to gegt the 1/2 mile, and out here in the mountain farm country of the 15 freeeway, there is NO alternative roads! ....

But its worth it, having a nice farm to call home, away from smog, away from the city life...I should have just spent the night at my parents house instead. Sigh. Hope the dinner was fun. Give us details!

I'm still hazy, all I know is that we met at about 7 ish and didn't leave untill after 10 pm. myself, moemar, para, incyr, shad0 and kristen were in attendance, Hitshermark got stuck in traffic and showed up a bit late, and yuri and tara came by for tea towards the last hour or so... at least I hope that was everyone

Beekeeper meetup...

Wow, it seems like a dream now.

I got to Santa Monica early, which luckily got me a parking space. I'm talking 5:30ish for a 7 o'clock dinner. Stupid LA traffic.

I wandered around the 3rd street promenade for a while (great little shopping area, if you're in the area), and ended up getting a call from regnevah at about 6:30.

We met up at PF Changs, where we were having dinner. We talked outside, waiting for other beekeepers to show up, in hopes that we might be able to spot them (silly me hadn't brought a sign or anything.) At about 6:45 one of his friends showed up (Shawn), so we were up to three.

Moemar showed up closer to 7, bringing our number up to 4. Shad0 was actually in the area as well, but since we didn't know him, and he didn't know us, we were wandering around seperately at this point in time.

Around 7 I saw someone suspiciously like Kristen duck behind the corner of the building on her Cell phone. I went to investigate, and deduced it was probably her, but she was on the phone and probably didn't want to be bothered. So I went back to the group and waited some more. She finally came back around the corner and greeted us, and also found Shad0, bringing him into our group. We went inside to get a table, but they hadn't actually taken the reservations that I had called in earlier that day. Shad0 HAD gotten reservations though, and they ended up seating us almost immeadiately.

All in all it was more like a bunch of friends getting together to talk. I don't remember much of what was discussed, except that there were a lot of topics, and it was all well and good. The food was served quickly, and was quite good. If you ever get the wanton soup, make sure you have someone to share it with, because it's a HUGE bowl of soup. definitely enough for two people.

Hitshermark ended up showing up late, as she was stuck in traffic, I believe, but finally she made it there. Of course, we had all just finished eating by that point in time. So she ordered, and we continued to talk.

Kristen had mentioned that Yuri and Tara (Genie) might be showing up as well. Not too long after Hitshermark joined us, Kristen got the phone call confirming they were in fact coming. They probably showed up around 9, and much to Kristen's dismay, Tara managed to get tea right away, while it took another half an hour and repeated attempts to get Kristen her tea.

We managed to stay until 10, at which point in time people decided it was time enough to go home. We managed a group picture before everyone left, though.

All in all it was a great time, at least for me. It was wonderful (as always) to meet fellow keepers, and great to see Kristen (again) and meet Yuri and Tara. I only hope I can have the honor of meeting everyone again at some future date.

Well, I planned on having people e-mail/PM me for the pictures, but I guess throwing up a link works just fine.

Group picture

Bonus!

I have, actually, and paired it with the lustful spring rolls.
