There are seven members of the society at the moment. I think that if josh joins them, they are going to use him as some sort of Key/Sacrifice in a type of ritual (think burning torches, chanting in circles etc.)

seven members and one (sacrificial/key member implies to me the use of a 7 pointed star formation with Josh in the middle at the APEX.

Googling "7 pointed star" gives us.
