Am i crazy for thinking that this is all still part of the game? I just can't accept that this is truly the end. Between all the loose ends, and with the confession on the tt website yesterday, it seems like the only possible way that the coverup could continue would be to make it all appear to be a game. Which, i think would be genius on the pm's part, to make dread house seem to be an arg within the game while it's still running. Plus how bada$$ would the pm's feel if they made this whole unfiction community feel like the game was over when it really wasn't, talk about tricking the audience. UM could have easily been hacked, and that's why there's that stuff up, but what about the ss website? the clock is still going.
huff.. Mad

No, not crazy, just one of the many in denial... but it is indeed over. Addle and Sin were talking {informally} with many of us in chat last night. There will be a PM chat in the future, date/time TBA. We have been encouraged to finish the unraveling, as it does have a meaning in the plot line. In my {newly formed} opinion, with the exception of the 7th sons closing, and us knowing who the PMs are, the game is ongoing. We have been conducting an absurd investigation, and the case isn't fully solved. Just because almost everyone *might be* dead, doesn't mean we stop paying attention.

With any luck, in the PM chat a LOT of loose ends will be tied up, and maybe we'll even finish the unraveling before then.

I haven't exactly been an active poster, but I've been an incredibly active lurker and I've been working on the puzzles pretty much the entire way through and invested quite a bit of time and energy into this, and for that reason I don't feel bad saying: What a disappointment.

Looking through the stuff at http://dreadhousecredits.addlepated.net/ I see the chat with our heroes running through the tunnels of CMH referred to as the "final chat." How is that appropriate for an ending? For that matter, what WAS the ending? Btw, I didn't think the game was "really over" until I saw this site. Maybe they're still pulling the wool over our collective eyes, and if so then I'm a sucker, but I don't think that's the case.

If the game is truly over, and it seems to be... then I think that the game was extraordinarily well crafted but the storytelling as a whole (introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, denoumont) was horrid. I mean, how bad is it that your players had NO clue that the end was even near? I say pretty bad.

So, I guess... GREAT job PMs on what you did, really, it was amazing. . . it's just a shame that the ending was botched. Or that you lost the last third of your script, or whatever the case may be.

Edit: I feel I should say that if this is a false ending, then this should go down in history as one of the greatest twists to a story ever. . . here's hoping. . .

Well put. The puzzles, design of sites, the structure of the game, the phonecalls, letters, ect. all OUTSTANDING Exclamation

The storyline was great, interesting throughout. Its just the way it ended. BLEH.

My advice to the 'head honchos' of this game would be if in the future, you start another ARG, to keep the story in mind. The 'game' was so well crafted, that the lameness of this ending stands out all the more. You could even try to enlist a wrtiting student, or several to help you out for free, im sure. Like Marduk mentioned, I didnt even feel we were that close to the end. And I still dont see what the end even was. TT's boz had a change of heart? Did he turn them in? Or get killed? Wheres jamie and ron?

I really wish this 'ending' was just anohter plot twist. Oh well.....

Tommy,

I think the problem is that it didn't *feel* like we were at the end yet. With all the unsolved puzzles, there was no sense of an endgame, some stunning revelation to tie all the mysteries together.

I agree that the plot was excellent. The storytelling was amazing. But the pacing ... we could have still been halfway through for all we could tell. Maybe the PMs got tired of us not solving puzzles fast enough -- I dunno.

So, in the end, it really wasn't up to us. I think that's the worst part of it, to be honest. In legendary games I've only read about, the players had a definite contribution to the finale. Here, we were just spectators watching the events unfold. In the end, puzzles like SeventhSons and TheUnraveling could never have been found and not changed anything.

So long, and thanks for all the trout!

I mentioned it in another post, but does everyone feel it's still appropriate to have it say "Successfully Concluded" on the front of these forums?

It seems the game is still going since all the pages went back to normal, people are still working on The Unraveling, and in light of the solve to the newest PuzzleCard and Ed telling us the ARG was a cover up.

At least maybe just adding a Question mark (Successfully Concluded?) would seem to fit. Sorry if this is a pushy request, but I (and many others) feel the story isn't concluded just yet.

Also, did this "PM Chat" ever happen? Besides the 'informal' one I've seen mentioned a few times where they said to keep going on The Unraveling, which seems like a strange move that would contradict the ARG being a cover up story...damnit.

I think the PM'ss just saw the community response, and like all good PM's, changed the story.

However, http://dreadhousecredits.addlepated.net is still up.
