Wow, nice work! I've been out of town all weekend, and I hoped someone would make progress while I was gone.
I was wondering where everyone was. I was beginning to get lonely. I figured the stuff on blake had to be some sort of programming stuff, but with my limited knowledge I wasn't quite sure what.

Now they're just pissing me off. Yet another update that is just telling me I'm missing something. It's not like I don't try keywords over and over again - and it's not like I don't check all the stupid pages. I guess I'm going to have to back through ALL of the pages with a fine tooth comb to see if I've missed anything.

you know keywords...so often you find one and give up oh thats it for this page whats the next one say

Well we're obviously missing one from the zombie prom page, but I guess there are some we skipped over too. Should we put on the wiki which keywords we can derive from a certain page?
For example, on the runes page, there are two keywords so far: orz and star control. According to the title though, there should be two more keys. I'm guessing they have to do with the first picture (blobbie).
I tried "blobbie" and "har" as keywords, but they take you to pollux.php, so I don't know if they count.
edit:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
After doing some searching, I found the top picture is also from Star Control, of an alien race called Umgah. That as a keyword brings you to the roland page. One more to go!

Done. I've updated all the wiki pages with the keywords that they generate. I've also found a few more:
magna mater = return to zork (from blake page - it was in the same story as the atys keyword)
olifant = blake (from the atys page) - this also gives us both keywords for the atys page
I found a bunch last night that took me to pollux - but I'm with you in thinking that they just don't count.
edit: remembered one from last night
rats in the walls = obvious (from blake)
edit 2: hades = blake (from return to zork)

Whee! I found a new page!
Don't know why I didn't think of this before - I actually know how to read runes and I do know what they are called.
keyword: futhark
Quote:
title: oororerbbormoarooe - 2 keys
2: -0.80901699437494742410229341718282*s + tx, 2.4898982848827802734015846213978*s + ty
What do you get when you shift romaine lettuce forward three letters of the alphabet?
well bloat my belly! -postpost
vwbycqbmkwwzlajcbzmkqxma = not quite coords but recipes (this must be a clue about the strange numbers)
1 keyword is caesar salad, but that just takes me to the roland page.
edit: "well bloat my belly!" seems to be one of the things the umgah say during Star Control - maybe there will be something in there for a new keyword for the runes page.

Finally, a new page! Nice work on the riddle, by the way (it's on the wiki):
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
caesar salad
As far as "recipes" go, the only thing I can think of is Numerical Recipes, a series of programming books on writing mathematical functions.
Looking at the numbers,
arccos(-0.80901699437494742410229341718282) = 144 degrees
but the second number is above 1, so it's something else. I think it might be an angle in radians, but what do we do with it regardless?

OK, I've been trying a bunch of keywords, but nothing so far. We need to identify that "fefgdg" music; I've been playing it for people, trying to get them to recognize something.
Rowan, could you make different versions of the midi? Maybe down an octave or somehing? It's going to be something simple, but it's getting annoying!
Plus I still have no idea what ***|||*** -*|| is supposed to mean. I thought it had to be a different musical notation, but I 'm not sure.

Up an octave, down an octave, fast and slow - hopefully one of these will be right!

Hello. I've been lurking for a while, and I finally have something usefull (I hope) to add.
About the fefgdg music. Earlier someone said it sounded like "Love me Tender". I agree, and I just wanted to add that the melody for Love me Tender is borrowed from a much older song called "Aura Lee". I already tried Aura Lee as a keyword with no joy, but thought I would mention it anyway in case it somehow leads to something.

Welcome! Thanks for joining us.
OK, it's a lot easier finding music for Aura Lee than Love Me Tender.
Here's a midi:
http://www.rienzihills.com/SING/auralee.htm
And a GIF of the music:
&phrase=aura-lee-c]http://www.musicaviva.com/ensemble/mw/music.tpl?filnavn=aura-lee-c-1&list=[LIST]&phrase=aura-lee-c
Looking at this version, we have CDC BAB as notes 2-7.
Moving those up or down 4 notes gives us FEF GDG.
Oh, here's an adjusted version with the right notes:

An update ...
So far I found something new on gilgamesh. It has the Ugaritic alphabet and some other pictures.
New text:

You've done well so far, finding the two names from the
filenames. The other name is similar, but hiding in a different place
in those bygone pages...

Checked the new directory...most of it is his programming and tests to ensure the ROT-8 was working. Also, there's daemon4.jpg and wunder0.mp3...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
...and rc0.mid, which is a fanfare I'm not sure anyone has heard yet.

The picture on gilgamesh has a name that rots to "notarebus"
Not are bus? Some sort of play on words?
----
edit: thought on the picture
the eye, mouth, ear, brain might mean "See, Say, Hear, Think" - so if we say the ugarthic stuff outloud, it might sound like what we are supposed to be looking for?

Maybe "not Arebus"?
It seems to have some kind of mythological meaning, but I'm only getting vague results.
Though,
Quote:
Erebus: The dark region of the underworld through which the dead must pass before they reach Hades.
Maybe it's an alternate spelling? (or not)
But I'm pretty sure arebus is a word, whatever it means.

I think that fanfare is what we've been looking for. The last two measures are our mysterious "love me tender". I've used the higher octave version, added 2 more tracks with the same notes, and set the instruments identical so you can hear its the same thing.
