I Know I Spend Too Much Time on Unfiction when...

... I write "SpaceBass... clarifies that in-game characters are not to post on the boards" without recognizing why that sounds odd.

... I skip workouts in Central Park in the Spring because, hey, the Marathon isn't until Fall.

... I make my friends wait to go out until I finish YIM chats with in-game characters... after all, we can always catch the next show.

... I drop in to chat for a bit because I can't fall asleep and stay up until 3:00.

...I know more about Amboy than I do about Fallujah.

Anyone else?

Later sweethearts. Enjoy the games and play nice please.
Rose

... I earn the title Unfictologist. Not just with little messages of single sentences but with multi-page research...

... I stay up two hours late again just to finish said research messages...

... my cat decides that if she wants any attention, the only way to get it is to IM me by si9tting on the keyboard...

... I check for updates while at work...

... I post long research messages while at work...

... I post replies such as this one, while at work...

The only thing I can add is:

...When I know it's way too late. And I have work tomorrow. And I don't care.

On a more serious note.

When you feel like you have been here long enough to be able to define what an ARG is supposed to be.

Wow, no one is bitter at all! Razz

How about: ...when you try and use the back of a napkin to explain Vignere ciphers to a friend at lunch.
...when you convince the same friend to do a 7 page research project on steganography.

How about when you're almost homesick for unfiction and arg's in general because you're motherboard is fried, you're using mom's computer(with no flash, no java, no d/ling anything you need to chat) and all of your money is tied up for a trip across the entire country to see all the people that your missing. Sad

So is that worse than cracking a vig cipher over dinner by hand?

You begin to wonder why the nf in unforum is a different colour.

The story as related to us at the NYC Mini-ARG-o-Fest-o-Con was that you did it in your head. I can see this being one of those tales that gets embellished more and more at each telling. And of course, everyone was there, like Woodstock. Years from now, at ArgFest XVII on Orbital Colony 26A, someone'll be telling some n00b, "I remember when Martavius deciphered a triple-DES encrypted hard drive using his MIND! I was there, man!!!"

Mart, just so you know...I'm still impressed that you did it over dinner by hand...that's just freaky. Shocked

When you accidently turn in a page of binary code you copied down instead of your homework and you don't recognize that carying a page of binary around is strange.

When You sit around thhinking about what new quote you should put as your signature on this forum.
