New codes...

Hey fellow-S+S players
Well, I'm playing the hiding room for quite some time now. Been to a lot of forums including this one the last week. I've tried to read as much as a can but, still, its a lot...
This new post here is meant for codes. Codes we found (or at least we think so) and haven't (succesfully) used. Also websites that haven't been posted yet... Maybe we could create an overview that's easy to use for everyone. Hope it's useful...
So.. here it goes!!

Jon once wrote an article about passwords. So I've read in one of the posts on this forum.. Keep in mind that he mentioned the codes:
mer45cedes and peugotrv02tkn
He also said a password could be your CAR and REGISTRATIONNUMBER...
heheh... does anybody knows what car he drives?... (already tried to email Brigid about this...still waiting for response)

Also stumbled on:
two books on the shelf in thehidingroom are named skylab... why two of the same?...

SIGNS:
1. Corvus corax (Raven) : Pathway
2. Flame and Fire : Inferno Cargo
3. Trident : Trident Air
4. Lepidoptera (butterfly) : OMNI publications?
5. Ophidia (Snake) : Ophis
6. Canidea (Dogs) : Sable+Shuck

And why is there in the guestbooks:
a complete red herring
WRONG
REASSURINGNLY
NOPASSWORD

I checked this site and found that Jon used an other (new?) email address: twinpicklesSPLATonetel.net.uk

I tried googling with twinpickles and found one other entry: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006LSGZ/026-0738689-6137236

which also contains a review by Jon (would also be the type of book that Jon would read).

I also tried to log in on onetel, but you need a numeric password for that, which obviously I do not have. I have not tried one of the many numbers that appeared in the rest of the game, but maybe some of our English friends are member of onetel and can search from inside?

False alarm

That's a quote from a Van Helsing review from CapAlert (This website calling itself a Christian Ministry that does detailed, if rather anal, reviews of movie content.)

http://www.capalert.com/capreports/vanhelsing.htm

WISDOM is just the format they use to tell a movie's content. I know about this only because another website I go to (fark.com) has linked it in the past. Sorry guys, but since that's not in game, I would bet on a coincidence.

Maybe it's a bit far fetched, but it might be something to work on. The loading screen for The hiding room depicts the constellation Capricorn (nothing new there). But have you noticed that the stars are delivered in a specific order?! Stars in any constellation are asigned letters from the greec alphabet. I don't remember the system but it something with magnitudes. Anyway, using a star chart i've found the following sequense for the 12 stars connected with a line (translations -- is omega really w? -- via Babelfish):

δ -- d
γ -- g
ι -- j
υ -- y
β -- v
α -- a
α -- a
π -- p
ψ -- b
ω -- w
ζ -- z
ε -- e

Why there are two alphas i don't know -- thats the way it is shown.

omega is 'oo' and beta is 'b' (and not v),also where you translated 'b' it should be 'psi' (i think), there are also e few others that i think are not correct, i never trust babelfish for translations...
it's been a while since i practised greek(ancient greek), maybe someone else with a better memory, can help me correcting it, cause i think there might just be a password here.. (i'm dieing to move on in this game)

I think this is correct but i am no expert either:
δ -- d
γ -- g
ι -- i
υ -- u
β -- b
α -- a
α -- a
π -- p
ψ -- ps
ω -- o (long like grow)
ζ -- z
ε -- e

π is pi.

as in the number.

δ -- delta = d
γ -- gamma =g
ι -- iota = i
υ -- upsilon = u
β -- beta = b
α -- alpha = a
α -- alpha = a
π -- pi = p
ψ -- psi = ps
ω -- omega = o
ζ -- zeta = z
ε -- epsilon = e

finally, my greek GCSE comes in handy!

Found some information on the stars in Capricorn. The "double alpha" is known as Algedi (arabic: 'goat' or 'ibex'). Information on the main stars can be found here:

http://www.seds.org/Maps/Const/Data/capricorn_tab.html

From the same site some mythological info on Capricorn:

According to Eratosthenes of Cyrene (284 - 202 B.C.; see his Catasterismi) this constellation represents the son of Aegipan. He lived with Zeus on the Mountain Ida on Crete. He accompanied Zeus against the Titans. He found the horns of the sea, Conchas, and tought his companions how to use them. When they faced their enenmies, the Titans, the blew on these horns instead of using the trumpets. Hearing this the Titans flew. To honour him Zeus placed him under the stars in a way that he was part goat part fish, as a sign that he found the horn of the sea.
Hygenus (lived in the times of Augustus) tells us in his poeticum astronomicum II.c.28 a different story. He is of the opinion that this constellation represents Pan. When Pan fled from Thyphaon to Egypt, he changed himself to this animal and hide in the river Nile. Zeus liked this idea so much that he made a place on the sky to remind in it.
