how?

A company recently had a contest where you could win something but had to check out their facebook page to find out if you had won. The only way to do that was to mark it as something you liked and comment. I have never done something like that before (I loathe facebook). I scanned through a bunch of stuff he had recently posted, and one of them was a posting to this company's facebook page. Seems a reasonable supposition that my name was ripped from there.

Hmm,... Possible new trailhead. I'm not sure if there's already a thread for this, but I recwntly got a friend request:

http://www.facebook.com/?sk=ff#!/profile.php?id=100001170782663

For those of you who don't like facebook, her name is Charlotte Cazales, she only has 2 pictures, one as her profile picture, and one containing a series of random objects and some text at the top, the only word I can make out is "Psychoanalysa"

She just asked me to be friends as well. Do Facebook users have a way of knowing who's looking at their profile? I mean, she friended me almost instantly as soon as I went to the page; I'd like to think that's not a coincidence.

Favorite movie is "Alice in Wonderland"... Subtle... Razz

Hmmm.. usually we can't see who looks at our profile, at least, not that I know of...

I;ll keep my eye on this and see where it leads..

She removed "Alice in Wonderland".

/me waves

Could be a trailhead, but in my opinion not definitive enough yet to start a thread.

Strange... her favorite quote is by Gallileo...

Anyways, if she changed information right after you mentioned it, chances are she frequents this site.

Calculationg..

86% chance of a treailhead.

EDIT: 100%, she's initiated a conversation

OK then, you got the ball. Start a thread when you think you're ready.

I'm going to hold back saying anything to her until I know more of what to say.

Got a Twitter follow from
http://twitter.com/bigandawesome
Linked to http://www.bigandawesomeproductions.com/

Source includes this comment:
"We love Pancakes! We love Bunnies!"

Anyone else (I mean, anyone else got this follow or any idea if this is linked to any ongoing ARG? I *know* other people love pancakes and bunnies, thank you)

Oh I found http://twitter.com/rowan72 saying it's his new website Smile

He has followed me as well, but he's following 900+ people.

The web page is a Flash file that contains no script and nothing more than a single static page. Don't quite know the reasoning for that.

And when they're talking about bunnies and pancakes, this is what they refer to:

http://www.tssoc.com/gallery/albums/nasioc/bunny_pancake.gif

So I have zero idea what to make of this.

Ok so here's the story since no one else has posted it. (I dug this info up myself so if I get some facts wrong don't shoot me)

bigandawesome wants to be an ARG company. They started a twitter, bought hosting and started following people. They forgot to register the domain. Upon noticing this, Rowan rather cleverly went and registered it. This is what is there now: http://bigandawesome.com/ (See the pancakes and bunnies?) Now Rowan is making the guys at bigandawesome jump through 3 hoops to get their domain back. Ingenious. Hilarious. Cool. They completed challenge #1 already which you can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wOeqE6F2Xg

In the meantime they registered http://bigandawesomeproductions.com/ to have some sort of outlet to the world I guess. (Besides twitter)

Given that they actually followed through with Rowan's challenge, and did so with panache, I'm thinking they could actually do some clever ARG's. (If they get someone else with some web knowledge maybe?)

Talk about steppin' up. Looks like it's on, Rowan.
The title of the video gave me a chuckle as well:

Hanwell Mental Institute

.
A friend just got this mail, and I rushed to UF to see if there's something about it, but nothing came up. Seems this aint recent, has like a couple of weeks old.

Not sure if it's a viral campaign, a game, something, still I thought worthy of post it here, not sure if it was mentioned early mayhap, under another name. Idk, you tell me how does it looks.

Quote:
Dear Sirs,

I am writing this public letter on behalf of the Hanwell Mental Institute, in the hope that it will clarify a distressing and misleading situation that came to light at the beginning of June. A person by the name of "Leonard Huntings" has been offering a series of video recordings and attempting to pass them as actual archive material from the institute. The Internet website in question that I am referring to is located at http://www.youtube.com/user/lhuntings

We claim absolutely no connection to these outrageous videos. More so, we suspect this "Leonard Huntings" is a nickname used by the perpetrator, who has not the courage to use his real name. We never admitted patients by the names of Leonard Huntings or Bertrand Laroche, who seems to be subject of the videos. Thus, we are dismissing this stunt as nothing else than juvenile efforts to tarnish the good image of our institute. Authorities have been alerted and I trust the aforementioned Internet website will be disabled shortly.

I sincerely thank you for your time and I'm truly sorry to see you being bothered by this childish event.

Yours Truly,

Dr. Andrew H. Miller
Head Director

Trailhead starting with a "creepy video"? Nah... That never happens 'round here... Razz

Characters in the videos are computer rendered, so this isn't fly by night; this is something bigger.

ETA:

Here ya go. From the YouTube comments...

http://www.senscape.net/
The YouTube avatar matches the image on the right.

http://www.facethehorror.com/
Some of the text matches the video verbatim.

Start a thread. Smile
