Yeah...

I had a conversation with the tehgreathatsby, and he was sort of rude in this silly way. In response to the hat question, I said "Hey, I think it is up yer azz" and he said my response was a "new one", lol. Then asked how I knew him, and something about how I know a lot about hats in peoples asses or something. Then I said he messaged me first, to which he announced blocking me and I quickly wrote "Tada, goodbye."

I hate when people IM me without asking, especially jackasses, lol. Good to know lots of people are getting this crap.

Hello there,
I am Norma Panaro. My dog, Kuji, has been kidnapped, he was in the front garden earlier today, when I saw a white van pull up at the end of the path. I saw the man who took my dog out of the window, he was wearing black and had a balaclava over his face. I did not get the van registration.
I have been reccommended to you by a good friend of mine. She said that you are a good pet detective who belongs to a well-known pet detective firm. I hope you can do something, my poor Kuji must be terrified.
I recieved an email from the captor(s) earlier today. Here is what it reads:

------------------------------------------------------
From: gotyourdogSPLATgooglemail.com
To: norma.panaroSPLATgooglemail.com
Subject: Got your dog!
------------------------------------------------------
I have your dog. You will see him again if you do as I say. Do not tell the police otherwise I will kill the dog. I hope you will play along. Your dog is safe if you do everything I say. You will hear from me shortly.
-------------------

Please respond soon,
Norma Panaro.

A "find my dog" ARG, could it be?

I just got this in my main Gmail account, and if it's spam I have no clue what the goal is supposed to be. Almost no one has my email address (only about 10 people and maybe a dozen websites where I've either registered at their forums or bought something). Whoever Tbevers is, I'm certainly not him (or her, for that matter). The output looks like Madlibs on crack, but the grammar is so poor it's either a random word generation system, some kind of idiot, orrrr perhaps some kind of code. Did anyone else get anything like this?

Do you default to reading your email in HTML mode or plain text? Because if it is the former, it could be a "check to see if email is valid" email spam. It then sends a little message to a server saying "I got one." Check to see if your spam increases in the next few days.

Regardless, if that's supposed to lead to a trailhead, I wouldn't bother just on general principle.

i_need_a_pillow:

I bounced some of the quotes through Google, and it looks like the last line there is from Jonathan Livingston Seagull. The one before it could be "Roadside Picnic."

Some of the sites I found similar emails had ads for Cialis/Viagra after or before the lines that look like yours. All in all, I think we found spam.

True, it's Japanese...and doesn't translate easily through Babelfish...so it must originate in Japanese...know any Japanese people?
