Paranoid?

Hi there!

Can you guys help me out? I received some strange replies to a (totally unrelated) livejournal post. They're made by an anonymous user. At first I dismissed them as spam, but then my unrelenting sense of paranoia set in.
I'll quote them here:

Quote:
Subject: fAWoJWDDOYOAfQle
Poster: (Anonymous)
Date: 2008-08-26 11:43 am UTC
Message: JUOlKU dbjs6Esl0U2fV

Then a few days later, on the same post, I got this:

Quote:
Subject: XLBIcjwgAWA
Poster: (Anonymous)
Date: 2008-09-10 06:14 am UTC
Message: i'm fine good work

So what kind of spam says "I'm fine, good work?". Also, with some imagination, I can make out "You ok?" and "success" (6Es) from the first message, which seems to somewhat make sense.

So what do you think? Spam/paranoia, or something else?

Aparently this has been around for a while. Its on digg and someone forwarded the link to me. This may actually belong in Timewasters but there might be some easteregg/hidden content here.

Kind of reminds me a little of You Suck at Photoshop.

I received a friend request from a "Catherine Aaron", claiming to know me, by name, but she lives in Mississippi and is 10 years my junior... no common friends. The profile image seems fairly quality (as in not just a random layperson snapshot with friends, but a pro composed shot). Something happened to her dad recently and wasn't sure if I'd heard. She sounds argish...

If we had common argish friends, I'd take it as a lead in a second, but with no connections, I'm uncertain. Anyone else get this friend request?

eta: response:
Quote:
I'm pretty sure you're the right guy. You might not remember me. I think you knew my dad actually. Jacob Aaron?

He always spoke very highly of you. I am just trying to track down some of his old friends.

Never heard of Jacob Aaron... I think I'll chat w/her.

eta2: one note in the profile, made 1/2 hour ago:
Quote:
Friars Point is not a big town. It's tiny. You would think a murder would matter.

My dad was murdered a week ago. The funeral was yesterday. I came home from school to be with Mom. She's a mess right now. I am not sure how I can help.

When I talked to the police about the investigation, they said "Looks like we will never know what happened." This was three days after the murder. I want to know why my father's murder is going unnoticed.

AHHHHHHHHH! I just want to scream so loud, but Mom needs me to hold it together.

Guess I can keep it up for a little while.

ETA: umm yeah, on Facebook Wink

The email I just got is from manofthepeople.net. I snooped around and in green letters it says "more than meets the eye". That is as far as I have gotten. Anyone else get this?

manofthepeople.net

I got the email as well. Looking over the recipient list, I recognize some of the email addresses from people on here. Definitely looks like a trailhead.
